Daughters of Cacophany Disciple by UniWingdFox

This is a roleplay contest to win the Disciple of Grendel for the Daughters of Cacophony. These vampires are not newly created; they are ancient, recently-awakened vampires who are being given new power by the Vampire God, Grendel.

This particular disciple is premade: one of our colorists has designed her and you’ll get to create her personality!

This contest will last until 11:59 PM PST on January 27th.

Below, you’ll find the nitty gritty!

Rules:

• Only post once
• Do not deter others from entering
• Fill out the form completely
• You may edit your entry up until the end
• I reserve the right to choose no winner
• Please be aware that there will be plotting and RP in the future

Clan Information:

Believed to have origins in both the Malkavian and the Toreador clans, the Daughters are very few in number. As their nickname "Sirens" suggests, the Daughters are known for their ability to deliver emotions through a form of song. They have a unique discipline called Melpominee (after Melpomene, muse of tragedy) that does just that.

Some Kindred have been witness to small assemblies of Daughters who perform songs of haunting beauty or frightening timbre that leave their audiences... moved. It has been noted by observant Kindred more than once that even in the most impromptu performances, all Daughters present seem to know exactly what will be sung in addition to all the verses.

Currently composed mostly of women (due to the associated difficulty in educating someone with the vocal range of most males), the Daughters practice Melpominee, a Discipline which allows the Daughters to invoke strange effects through singing. The Daughters are the choralistes par excellence of the undead, and hosting a gathering of them is worth high prestige for the Toreador. And although it is mostly female vampires who number among the Daughters of Cacophony, male members of this bloodline do exist, although they are uncommon and usually regarded as oddities.

For more information, see the Clan Vampires List and the White Wolf Wiki (though keep in mind that not everything in White Wolf canon is Faekats canon!)

The Prompt:

The new God of Vampires had grown impatient.

By now, he knew which Disciples were loyal to him and which were not. He also knew who had fallen into torpor for far too long and who had come to meet their final death. Many needed to be replaced, and he had done his due diligence, seeking out the most ancient and powerful vampires each clan had to offer and watching them from the shadows, weighing their calibre.

Eventually, he made his decision.

Grendel approached the ancient vampire in whatever place they would typically haunt, knowing exactly where they would be. He wore his shadows like a hooded cloak that billowed out behind him, the shadows beneath his feet writhing like a thousand tentacles along the ground where he stepped. Red eyes burned within the shaded darkness cast by the hood like glowing embers, illuminating a pale face. His long red hair hung in an intricate braid nearly to his feet, decorated with ornaments of black and gold. He did not hide who he was. The extent of his power was a wild and untethered thing that he allowed to permeate the air around him.

He came to stand in front of the vampire he sought, allowing them a moment to recognize just who he was before he spoke.

“I have been watching you for some time and have come to offer you a position of great power and importance.” He paused to allow them to respond if they wished, his narrowed eyes began to burn brighter as he flashed the vampire before him a sharp-toothed grin. “You will become the leader of your clan as one of my Disciples. You do not need to decide immediately, I will give you a few moments to think it over, but this offer does expire. If you do not want it, I am sure that there are many others who do.”

The vampire is left to mull it over, the God seemingly content to occupy himself with other things for a time. Eventually, Grendel would return to await the vampire's response.

Tell us a bit about your RP style: I'm a plotter, I like build my characters from the ground up. I love plots where is nice plot to help me think and reason.
Why does this particular Disciple appeal to you?: the fact that singers are in every culture in world. It would fun to play a character that was so musical talented. The folklore around singers is important because you can express worries, fears and stories on others as you play sing or umm a toom you picked. Up. She is interesting because she can convert musical interests like feels and feed from the music it's self. She is the spirit of music the muse. She is like a Bard.
Vampire’s Name: Presaria La'ndrieu
Vampire’s Personality: Presaria is smart, pretty and musical insane she loves to sing hymns of her life and experience all forms of music.
Motivations and Goals: gather her sisters, share her songs and maybe find a place where they all can belong. She wouldn't mind their small numbers but she would hope to grow her clan. She would be their mother their muse and would stay out and from the Jyhad as much as possibl.
Prompt Response: - Presaria smirks at the wonderful news. She wanted to provide a safe place for her people. An insane smirk and small hymm passes her lips before she loojs around. And sings - " yes my lord, i accept. I will be your vessel." - her operic voice fills the night air-

Tell us a bit about your RP style: I’m interest in doing almost any plot. I would like to get people to care about my characters and then make the character suffer. I struggle with gore, and am always a hard fade to black. I like happy endings even if it take great struggles to get there. I tend to have shorter responses but am interested in learning to be more detailed. Also, I can be slow to reply at times.
Why does this particular Disciple appeal to you?: Out of all the bloodlines and clans, the Daughters of Cacophony fascinate me the most. The interplay of the fugue, melpominee, and every day life sounds fun to explore. There are so many myths and accounts of their abilities. I would like to work with the staff to explore what they are in Faekats and their place among the clans in this new time.
Vampire’s Name: Lorelei (no-one knows if it is her birth name or a name she adopted)
Vampire’s Personality: Cheerful most of the time, Lorelei in lively and ready to party. She is able to attend more sedate celebrations and even enjoy herself. But her favorite place to be is among those that are willing to let loose and have a good time, however it ends up.

Lorelei is energetic with an easy smile. She finds amusement in things easily and is usually ready to have a bit of fun. Generally she is pretty happy and willing to banter, with the appearance of keeping everything light.

She may come across to some as carefree and without much depth to those who only observe her. She is not all lightheartedness and play. Those that she is close to her will know her to be observant and calculating as well. Lorelei will watch the ones around her and then quietly nudge them in the direction she want them to go. It is as simple as a song. Sometimes she has an agenda she is working towards, sometimes it is to for her amusement. She patient in her machinations and they can sometimes take years too see to fruition.

Lorelei has a strong will with the self confidence to back it up. She will not cower in the face of opposition or allow others to sway her. She’s opinionated and stubborn. If presented in matter of fact way, arguments to support another viewpoint, she may consider them and then make her own decision. No one will make the decision for her.

The fugue overlays this all with an ever present distraction. It can create missteps and her to overlook small but important things. It creates frustration as she has to watch her plans crumble. At those times, she can be quick to lash out and be defensive.

Motivations and Goals: First and foremost, Lorelei wants to ensure their protection. They are few in number and wide flung, but she wants to bring them together into a more cohesive group. With the ability acquired early on to throw your voice to someone you know, wherever they are, this becomes possible. She will make sure to seek out every daughter so that she can reach them if needed.

Lorelei will bring together the elders to build structure and support system without forcing daughters to leave what they have built for themselves. Congregations will be more common with chances to get to know each other, and to gossip.

Still content to remain outside the struggle of the Jyhad, she none the less wants the clan’s numbers to grow and prosper. It is important that they find their place as a clan in this changing world or they might find they have nowhere left to be.

Prompt Response: Leaning on a wall out side a nightclub, Lorelei observed kats and they came and went, the lights creating unique and ever changing patterns on them. Since having wakened from torpor she had made a point of exploring what society was like now. She had found new fashions to adopt that suited her. The new music styles delighted her and she was making the rounds of clubs, symphonies, and lounges. She made a point of seeking out other Daughters of Cacophony to connect with. Other kindred are acknowledged and used to gain knowledge of changes overtime. The recent changes in the power structure made her wonder about the future.

Distracted by the fugue and her focus on the club goers, she the missed arrival of the God. Her attention swiftly turned to him as he approached, his presence demanding nothing less. Dropping the boot that was propped against the wall, she straightened, knowing whatever happened next it would be important. So this was the God of Vampires now. Quite a promotion. She couldn’t stop the fleeting thought repeating from the first time she knew of the change: hopefully he would be better than the last. She hadn't had much reason to pay attention to the God of the Clanless Vampires before she went into torpor.

It was with curiosity that she gazed back at Grendel, both for what he planned for all vampires and why he would seek her out. He was not an unpleasant God to gaze at, she would give him that. As he spoke she felt her brow quirk up. Had he now. She wondered what he has seen, and if any of it was actually interesting to him.

But as he continued to speak, Lorelei sobered. This was no small thing he was asking of her. After he left, she moved away from the nightclub to a less distracting area. Now among dark buildings and quiet, she thought over the proposal. It was an honor, sure, but that was not a reason to accept. It would also be a lot of responsibility. Not a reason to say no. The wind was cold against her skin as she began to pace in small circles as she weighed everything, wanting to make the best decision for all. What it eventually came down to for her was the Daughters are disorganized, each one carving out their place without each other, and relying on themselves alone. It was time to change that.

As she walked back to the nightclub, she began to plan. There was a lot of work to do, and elders to seek out. It was not surprising the God returned that same night. He did say the offer would expire. He probably had his next choice, hopefully only his second, already picked out to visit tomorrow if he needed to. Well, he didn’t. She had no hesitancy as Grendel stood before her silently waiting for her response. “I will.” With those words everything changed for her.
