Rot lowered his head ever so slightly in greeting towards the mare that joined them. It was the most he could summon up to show his respect, not that there was much there, it was enough to keep himself in check, however. Her actions as the alpha of this herd will prove if she deserves more respect later on. At least she seemed to have some intelligence to her.
"Greetings," he stated simply, keeping his distance from the alpha.

Toku turned eyeing Maeryn long enough to notice the marking under her throat and realized just who she was. At this point he joined Rot in a very simple nod. So this was the suaposed Alpha then? The colors and marking did match.

It was her turn to eye Rötschreck. Maeryn knew of the ruby Kalona only by word of mouth. She weighed him, trying to decide if he fit the description that he'd been given. And came to the conclusion that she would have to spend more time in his presence, or watching him interact with others to make that decision. "Greetings," she replied, and a slightly sardonic smile struggled with her to show itself. There was some humor involved here. She, the male hating Kalona, approaching and working with a stallion to make a herd so that later there could be more, better Kalona. It figured. Oh well, you had to make some sacrifices to survive.
Also, such superstitious hatreds were a liability. They needed to be taken care of. She was intelligent enough to realize that. Perhaps this experience would be a growing one. She nodded at him in return. Her attention slid to Toku, and she eyed him, an eyebrow raised. So, he would not so much as summon up a greeting? That said something. But perhaps he was intimidated. No, that was actually worse. Their kind were supposed to be fierce, not submissive and yielding. If he ever left their herd, he might be in trouble. He might discover that being without others to back one up is a bad thing when you are not strong alone. But then, that was a very big assumption. She let those thoughts slide away, and inclined her head slightly. Acknowledging his nod.
