FFVIII help new card system?

I was playing VIII and when you recive your first Seed mission i went back and talked to Cid and he gave me this thing when you challenge people to play the card battle. Two options came up then the card system screen was weird but then i lost the thing after losing a card game. Anyone know what im talking about or is something seriously wrong with my disc?

I don't quite understand, did you already have some cards? What do you mean by "this thing?" Well, I wouldn't know anyway; I always challenge him later in the game. If the screen got weird, though, it probably is the disc.

I don't know what you mean either and I always play waaaay too many cards early on in the game. (you can get lionheart before you go to galbadia garden if you do things right) But still I don't know what you're talking about.
