I REALLY Don't know exactly what a mid-length post is ><'...Just ignore the topic...It was my sister's idea....her.....thirteen year old yaoi...idea........damn my creativeness! D:
It was that time of year again when the late summer breeze carried with it the crisp clean smell of the upcoming autumn, and the emerald leaves of summer faded and gained their bold fiery tinctures of gold, crimson, and rust. When time it's self seemingly slowed to a hault, complementing the grab colors that mother earth took on. Which added to the enchanting effect.
What was to become of them now? Were they seriously going to send them off to fight the kingdom? Were they ready for that? He asked himself as his toes touched the edge of the water, flinching slightly as the temperature he then proceeded into the frigid lake. Shivering as the lakes icy water caressed his bare skin, he looked at the priests who stood behind him on the bank. This was it, his journey into manhood, and possibly a life of outlandish adventure. With nothing but the little clothes they left him on the opposite bank. Withdrawing himself from the waters jagged temperature, he grabbed the set of clothes laid out for him on the bank and clothed himself. Looking back across the lake, he took one last look at his home in which he'd hid behind the safety of its walls for so many years.
Why doesn't my hair dry fast anymore. It' was the same length too. And fire won't do a thing. I guess there's no other way to dry it but with air of course. That was the usual through from him after he'd bathed in the morning. The water still was a bit chilled even when he'd attempted to heat the water,(which he'd noticed would never work. Flames are extinguished by water.) He never realized that after all, he's usually never go anywhere near water with fire he'd been playing with.
A leaf fell to the water in front of him, and he watched as the water rippled beneath it's impact. Truly fascinating. Each time something dropped in the water, more ripples were made, bouncing off of each other, causing more ripples to take form. He enjoyed the peace at the moment as if it would be his last. For later he would end up fighting in a battle that he'd never wanted to take place in but had to, for the sake of other people. Somehow, he'd wanted to be a cloud. going where the wing took him, going without a care. Just floating. gliding with the breeze. But instead, he was burdened with his task.
Looking at Xaki, smiled. Before diverting his attention to the sky, which was wasting no time getting darker. The sooner we find a safe place to sleep the better, we'll have to make camp soon. He paused, trying to keep his eyes off of Xaki for the moment. But with what would they make a camp with exactly? he asked twirling around all they had where the little clothes the elders had provided them with, I guess this is the test. The difference between a man and child, you must learn to use your environment to your own advantage.
Fiddling with a small sapling he pondered the possibilities We'll also need a fire, but Xaki can handle that. That leaves the responsibility of a shelter to me I guess... Maybe we should find a more protected place to camp though first he noted looking at the open area.
He sighed yet again, and stood. A fire would be in the manner . It's almost dark. he yawned. Fire wasn't really that simple. well, it was but still it was rather hard to control. He stood by yet a different tree and pulled a few pieces of bark. "Feh. fire on a stick. A torch. Yes, that's it! A torch! “he squealed excitedly. Setting things on fire pleased him so. It was truly mesmerizing, to watch the flames leap onto anything other that's flammable.
He struck the two pieces of wood together around three or four times, and instantly as expected, fire was made. "HAH! I've set yet another thing on fire!" he squeaked, and pressed the flames against the spare piece of wood, a branch, that he'd found.
Looking at Xaki his eyes widened at the sight of the fire, "wow, that awesome." he said smiling at him as he continued down the trail as the sun sunk behind the trees. "maybe we should find a place to camp and set up a fire." He stopped and looked around, they'd come along way since the village. No where he'd been at least, spotting a place he tapped Xaki on the shoulder and pointed to a small clearing that was surrounded with a thick ring of trees and thickets. With the proper shelters it would be perfect for them to stay, little wind. So for the most part they'd stay warm, and protection from animals, at least the larger of the animal kingdom. "what about there I think I might be able to build us something formidable there." he said raising a brow at him " and there is just enough room for a small fire to keep us warm through the night"..
"A great idea indeed." Xaki mused. "And I'll work on getting something to eat." he sighed, and glanced around. "The lake! That's where I can find food." he laughed. The torch was another thing, it would be a bit of trouble trying to carry it while fishing. "You should take this with you." He said a bit bluntly, and walked off, retracing his steps back to the river. He enjoyed the dark, it was peaceful, quiet, and a bit on the creepy side, but still, he enjoyed it so.
Watching as he trailed off into the darkness, Nick began to clear the area before setting up a circle of stones and wood for a small fire. Lighting it, he began his work on a small shelter just barely big enough for both to move around in comfortably. He would have made one bigger, but the lack of supplies limited his production. Made of weaved saplings, bare sticks and branches, and cloth he tore from his shirt to hold the walls together the shelter was somewhat sturdy. But it would do, using big palm leaves for a roof. incase of rain or some other unfortunate event. Waiting for his return, nick even sat up a small thing around the fire. In which to cook what he brought back.
Xaki came back with two fish, one for each of them. He was soaking wet yet again, and probably wouldn’t dry off for the next few hours. On top of that, it was a bit of a hassle to walk soaking wet because his hair would end up getting stuck in the bushes whenever he would walk through them. So, his hair had various twigs and leaves in it, going him the appearance of someone dressed in leaves or something of the sort. It was a rather amusing sight. And he was a bit more flammable then he was now from the branches and leaves. "Nick!" he called out" I'm back from the watery depths!" he joked, a bit delirious from lack of sleep and food.
"What are you doing all wet exactly?" he asked laughing at his joke, "Your going to freeze to death, hang your clothes by the fire so they'll dry and you don't get sick" he stating shaking his head " did those fish give you some trouble?" he asked jokingly looking at Xaki’s hair that was riddled with twigs and sticks " can you go anywhere without making a mess of yourself?" he inquired motioning to the camp "I’m done with the camp." he looked at it and then to him "what do you think?" he asked raising a brow.
"Yes, the fish did give me some trouble, no, I suppose I can't go anywhere without getting a bit scratched up." he sighed, then looked around, ""It's missing one thing!" he chuckled, and ran his fingers through his hair pulling out a rose that had gotten stuck there, and placed it in the ground. He picked up a twig, and started to write something on the ground after making the outlines for a doormat. "Home is where the heart it." was what it said, though he couldn't write it without laughing slightly.
"I think your becoming water logged, because your becoming delirious my friend." he said smiling at him "Come lets go dry you up and fill our stomachs, and maybe even get some much needed rest before tomorrow." he paused walking into the small ringlet of trees and sitting in front of the fire, warming his hands he awaiting Xaki's arrival. How far do we have to go, according to the map more than a thousand leagues. possibly two. he thought.
Tracing runes in the dust, he let them flip through his head as he tried to memorize their purpose. Maybe tomorrow, they could practice their skills on the way to the empire. to occupy themselves.
"Here, have a fish" he laughed, and tossed him a fish.” Be careful, it may not like being eaten.." he joked, and sat staring into the fire. Feh...I'm not tired. nor am I dry. But that's another story. I wonder if that bear found me. Wonder what bear meat tastes like. probably like chicken or something.. he rambled on in his thoughts. Cooking a fish. here we go. just don't drop the thing in the fire. If so. don’t burn yourself trying to get it.. he thought yet again, and skewered the fish across the fire. "I hope this thing doesn't explode or something.." he joked. Looking at Xaki, He mimicked him. Skewering the fish on a stick, and hung it over the fire. Laughing at his joke he watched the fish and Xaki, "The next town we reach, we'll have to buy supplies and other stuff. "he said studying Xaki's expressions, he had never failed at being amused or bored. Looking around the wall of trees and thicket, it felt somewhat safe. Although it didn't compare to anything he had back in Yielle.
"Right, that sound like a great idea!" he said before glancing over his shoulder. Please don't be the bear he thought, and moved a bit quickly to sit behind Nick, carrying the cooked fish with him. For some reason, he seemed to be a bit scared of things. Probably something that happened, that never really did happen. He peeked over Nick's shoulder from behind him still a bit frightened. Supposedly, he was a bit delirious after all.
Nick looked at him as he moved behind them "What?" he asked looking out into the blackness, seeing nothing he turned looking at him. The beat of his heart sped up a tad "There isn't anything out there..." he said laughing. Before turning the fish to cook it equally, letting his eyes drop to the glowing embers of the fire he let his concentration dwindle as Xaki's presence was clearly evident behind him. Goose bump spread over his body as Xaki’s warm breath spread over his neck Where do we go from here? he asked himself thinking about the map of the empire what lies beyond this trail? He inquired.
"But, I saw..something.." he muttered a bit puzzled. "I think I've gone mad.." he laughed, and sat there quietly still a bit worried about whatever was there. Probably a rabbit..or a squirrel..Nothing to worry about. But, what if the squirrel has rabies.. he thought. "Nick, have you ever heard of rabid squirrels?" he whimpered, and picked at the cooked fish.
Nick distorted his face and turned to face Xaki, "rabid squirrels? I have but I don't think that there are any around here." he shrugged smiling at Xaki, perking his ears he heard a rustle. Like water he thought standing up and looked over the thicket, nothing. there must be a spring, we'll have to check it out tomorrow he noted sitting back down to face Xaki, " is there anything you wish to discuss" he asked smiling.
"Hm.." he muttered, "Can I have a hug?!" he laughed, and glanced at a small rabbit not far from them. Rabid rabbits? That's interesting.. AH! It's so fluffy! I shall name it fluffy and it will be my fluffy.. he laughed, and sat with his knees curled to his chest, slightly rocking back and forth about a thought he was having. Lately, he'd been rather cheerful. Otherwise known as hyperactive so to speak, and couldn't stop thinking about things a bit complexly.
A hug? he thought and playfully smiled wrapping his arms around Xaki and squeezing him tightly "there do you feel content now?" he asked looking at him with a wide smile, and hat faded when he looked down at his wet clothes. Laughing he looked at him and rolled his eyes "look you've gotten me all wet." he remarked playfully. "well..." he fell silent staring at Xaki. and letting and started to day dream.
Yay! I got a hug!..he thought a bit excitedly, and glanced back at Nick, not really knowing he was blushing at the moment, but glanced back down at the ground, and oddly, there was the rabbit that he'd been staring at. "What do we have here?" he said picking up the rabbit cheerfully, "Fluffy! That's your name for now!" he squealed excitedly
Nick let his eyes scan about Xaki's face, tilting his head slightly he smiled at him "Is there a reason your turning red?" he asked looking at the small rabbit, it must have wandered from a burrow. It surprised him it's mother wasn’t close behind it. Looking up at the moon, he diverted his attention to his fish which was now burnt. quickly removing it from the fire he looked at the charred thing on the end of his stick, sighing he threw it into the darkness "well..." he said looking at Xaki. " is there anything you want to talk about?" he inquired.
"Maybe, maybe not?" he grinned, and scratched the rabbit's ear. "Well Fluffy, you’d better be going now?" he whispered to the rabbit as if he were a child, and watched it hop away. "Nick, have you ever had the feeling when..you..like someone, but don't really know if they liked you?" he asked, looking away slightly, and turning his he so his hair would cover his amethyst eyes
Nick felt a warm fuzzy, almost burning sensation fill him as he asked the question, Yes, I have he thought not knowing how to answer it. So he bluntly answered "yes." he declared and looked at him "why do you ask?" he shifted his eyes about. I feel it all the time when around you. he thought as a sinking feeling fill his chest in replace as the other faded.
"I just wanted to know how would I go about telling someone, that person, that I.." he sighed, loved them.. he thought. Come on Xaki, spit it out, just let him know how you feel! he thought to himself. He didn't really know how to ask the question, nor did he know how to go about asking the question. He was afraid of the outcome, lately, he'd been afraid of several things.
Looking at the ground he wondering what Xaki meant by this, looking up to meat his amethyst eyes he smiled lightly. If only he were thinking of me when he thought such things. he thought enviously it's impossible... no one could ever like me much less... forcing the thought from his head he looked up at the moon that was now high in the sky, looking at the bed of moss he placed in the small shelter he looked at Xaki "we should get some rest for tomorrow."
"Yes, that sounds like a great idea..." Xaki yawned and ran his hand through his hair . In doing so, he cringed as if something had impaled or, "shanked"(XD) him. Apparently, it had dried some, but was a bit knotted and entangled.. Unexpectedly, the eldest extended a hand to trace the jaw of the other, and pulled him into a dee[ kiss. He raised a hand to the other side of his face to keep Xaki's head in place. The one recieving the action was somewhat shocked, but in ecstasy at the same time..
