But it's devotion. It's not passion or hormones or any physical contact. It's care and protection. I think she made that pretty clear in the book.

Quil is Jake's classmate. Jake is between 15 or 16, so Quil would be around that age as well. Ten years would be fine. The ten years was mentioned in the book too.
