What is your favorite movie released in 1992?? At first glance, I can see that it was not a bad year for film. There were some stinkers, of course, but they seem to be offset by some really good films.

Well, it's a good thing I don't pick the Oscar winner every year, because, even though I love the film they chose for 1992 ("Unforgiven"), it's not a film that I want to see more than once or twice at most.

That's how I pick my favorite film of any year. Give me a film that I'm ready to see again at the drop of a hat. That is the way I feel about "My Cousin Vinny". It was never in danger of winning the Academy Award for best picture, but it is one of the few from this year that I'm ready to watch again at any time.

There were some really good movies released in 1992.

Aladdin- Wonderful movie. A Disney classic.

Alien³- Epic way to tie up the trilogy.

Batman Returns- The last of Tim Burton's Batmans.

Bebe's Kids- God, I have not seen this in forever!

Bram Stoker's Dracula- One of the best movies of all time with a all-star cast

Candyman- My mom tried to get me to say it 5 times in the mirror and I would NOT...still prolly would not.

Home Alone 2: Lost in New York- Classic.

Lethal Weapon 3- Again, Classic.

The Mighty Ducks- Ha!

My Cousin Vinny- Funny as hell.

Patriot Games- Love Harrison Ford.

Toys- Robin Williams is my hero.

Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me- David Lynch is the man!

Wayne's World- I don't have to say anything about this!

And finally...

Radio Flyer- I think this is the best movie of that year. It's a wonderfull story that will make you laugh and cry. If you have not seen it, rent it!

Some good films that year, and some really different ones. My faves:

A League of Their Own
Army of Darkness
Basic Instinct
City of Joy
The Crying Game
Diggstown
Hero
Hoffa
Like Water for Chocolate
My Cousin Vinny
Scent of a Woman
Unforgiven
Year of the Comet

A League because I believe it was important, and it was also fun to watch. A bit of women's history, and in the end, the revelation of the actual women who played in the league.

Army of Darkness I always watch if it's on tv. Cracks me up.

Basic Instinct... who needs monsters when you have one pissed off woman!

City of Joy... can't watch it very often as it moves me so much.

The Crying Game is a heart tearing story with political importance of the Irish struggle viewed through the IRA perspective, as well as a surprising twist with the transexual love affair. Outstanding performances by Forest Whitaker, Jaye Davidson and Stephen Rae.

Diggstown is another one I'll watch whenever it's on... great performances by the chief characters and a wonderfully twisted plot line. Fun.

Hero is a dark comedy about courage, a life gone awry and theft... of the act of heroism (which was rather accidental). Good film, fun to watch, but didn't get very popular.

Hoffa. Well, I'm from a coal mining family, and though Hoffa set up the truckers union, any early union leader is a hero to me. This film was in my opinion very well done with an excellent cast and plot. Revealing how Hoffa got the union started by hands on physical fighting as well as convincing arguments, and how he became corrupted by the power he eventually achieved, it's well worth watching this historical drama.

Like Water for Chocolate - a magical love story and tragedy, exquisitly made with wonderful performances by the actors, another film worth watching. Of the South American and Mexican magical tradition, it's different yet familiar in the story of lovers destined for entanglement and great difficulties.

My Cousin Vinny... who can not watch this farce? I am laughing as I type this, it's so funny. See it if you haven't already. New Jersey meets the deep south, and omg what laugh riots ensue.

Scent of a Woman is one powerful film, with outstanding performances by Al Pacino and Chris O'Donnell. Both a comedy and a near tragedy, the film is as full of life and joy as it is of deep sadness and despair. With many moments of great humor (Pacino's character, who is blind, driving a Ferrari at top speed through the city streets with O'Donnell's extremely nervous verbal guidance from the passenger seat), it's a solid film that will hold up forever.

Unforgiven... a hard story of hard men and women in the old west. The truth behind the figure of the gunfighter, or at least one who has intelligence and some feelings left toward the end of his life. Sort of an anti-western western, I watch it occasionally. The depth of despair in the film keeps me from watching it more often, but it is a true American classic.

Though I haven't seen many of the films on the list, I'm confident enough to say that "Unforgiven" is probably the best film, or at least my favorite, film of 1992. Though I was just a wee one during it's release, I discovered this film a few months ago. It is the only western film I can watch. I'm not saying westerns are bad, I'm just saying they don't sit well with me. But anyways, I think it's a shame Morgan Freeman didn't even get nominated for an Oscar for this film. Granted, Gene Hackman was amazing to watch, I think it's too bad Freeman didn't even get a nod.

Oh Aladdin. I just adore this movie. It was the film that restarted my obsession with Disney Animation back in 2004, I saw it and I just knew, these movies arent just for your childhood, they are just as perfect and watchable now at 15 as when you were 5. The songs are divine and god, nothing beats the Golden Nineties for timeless Disney movies.
