Post 3 - Mod Mule, Contests & Guild House
Greetings PHers. I am Poll_Haven, the multi-mod operated mule. At your service to help run contests in Poll Haven.
Every mod in Poll Haven has access to my account to make the processing of entry fees, prize handouts, ect, faster and easier. You’ll no longer have to worry about mods going on hiatus and contests going stagnant. If the mod running the contest becomes distracted another mod can step in and take their place.
So from now on please send contest entries to me. For the time being please also send any donations to the guild to me. Don’t send donations directly to the guild via the guild home page because we mods don’t have access to those funds. Donations to me will primarily be recycled back into the guild in the form of prizes. Both gold and any items are appreciated. When sending an entry fee or a donation please make sure to use the title bar to specify exactly what whatever your sending us is for (donation, specific contest name, ect).
If any members would like to run contests please first make sure to speak with the mods and get their approval. You will also need at least one mod to sponsor your contest. The sponsor mod will be the one who will use me on your behalf to take entry fees for your contest and to hold then distribute any prizes. This will be to ensure that all contests (especially those involving entry fees) are seen through to completion and no members run the risk of being ripped off, even if only due to the inactivity of another member.
If you have any questions, suggestions, contest proposals ect, you can still post a thread or contact an active mod directly, or you may also PM me and the first mod to check in that day will help you.
~~*oOo*~~
Most contests in PH have a minimum post count rule for contestants to qualify. Basically that means you have to have at least so many posts in this guild before you can participate. This is to be more fair to older and more active members, instead of having a member who joined yesterday and won't be around tomorrow winning the good prizes.
You can check your post count anytime by clicking on the "Guild Members" button on the top left of the page.
type your user name EXACTLY as you would type it to sign into gaia into the search box.
Your name should pop up along with a list that says your level in the guild (should say member), how much you've donated to the guild (Please don't donate to the guild that way, we can't access it right now, send donations to the mod mule Poll_haven instead), and the number of posts you've made in the guild).
If you don't meet the minimum post count you're entry will be rejected.
Every post you make in the guild counts towards your post count- topics, replies, and even bumps in the bump sticky.
Most contests with a minimum post count will be at least 50 posts, but the better the prizes the higher the minimum will be. I've no idea yet what the next contests minimum will be. So get to work! mrgreen

Post 6 - How to Make a Poll
Here's a little something to help the really new new members:
In Poll Haven all topics must have a poll. The poll can ask a question, ramble on, or contain little to nothing. It just has to be there.
To make a poll just make a new topic as you would any other time by clicking the new topic button.
The screen where you title and type out the first post of your topic will come up. Fill those at as usual and scroll down below the post box. You will see a blue area that says "Add a Poll". If you don't put inything into this area your topic won't have a poll, so obviously you need to stick somthing in there. You can make a simple blank poll by simply clicking in each of the 2 fields and hitting the spacebar a few times.
To make a real poll type your question, header, ect into the first box. In the second box type your first (or only) option.
If you want to make a poll with more then one option all you have to do is fill out all the other fields first, then click the add option button. This will give you another field. Still want yet another option? Fill out the last one and click the button again. Gaia will let you have a maximum of 10 options for every poll.
When your finished you can click submit and the poll will be added to to your new topic and all will be well with the world (well, all will be well with the topic anyway.... most likely)
If you forgot to make a poll before hitting the submit button it's not too late, you can still go back and add one.
Go into your topic. Between the topic title and your first post will be an edit button. Click it. Scroll down and you'll see the blue field where the polls are made. Make your poll and hit submit and it will be added to the existing topic.
If you forget to add a poll an don't add one promptly a mod will most likely do it for you as soon as they notice it. (A mod may also remove your old poll and add a new poll in it's place if they deam the old one innappropriate in any way).
You can tell a topic has no poll without even having to enter it as it won't have the [poll] tag in front of it on the front page. If you wanted to make a poll and forgot you can still add your own poll in place of the mod added poll.
You can't change or edit your polls once the topic has been posted, but you can replace them with new ones.
To replace a poll go into your topic and click the edit button between your topics title and the first post.
Scroll down to below the post field and you will see a blue area with a grey button that says "Remove This Poll Now!"
Click the button and it will remove the old poll and give you your blank poll fields again to make a new poll in. nk
Time limit polls
By now you might have notices a third field called "length" under your normal poll option fields. This mini field automatically contains a number 0. In Poll Haven we usually just leave that option set at 0 for a neverending poll. This means that anyone at anytime who hasn't already taken the poll can go ahead and take it and get gold from it.
If you type a diffrent number into that field then it's like setting a timer. EX: If you type in a number 3 then the poll will only be good for 3 days. After that everyone can still see the results of the poll, but no one else will be able to answer or claim gold from it.
