The Twilight Crystal

[Blackened Daylight]

The Twlight Crystal is item of the gods sought out by many whom would use it's power for nothing but their own selfish desires. It is the heart of the World of Daremo and who ever controls it, controls the hearts and minds of everyone on daremo. The crystal has been nothing short of folklore and legends for hundreds of years and as such is only sought out by religoius men or power-hungry tyrants.

However despite the proof of it's existance, one race is said to guard it with lives. The last creation of the gods, the Azure Wolf. To leave off from their exstensive history would leave one starved for information so lets start at their beginnings;

After the twin gods, Ichele the goddess of life, and Izumi the god of death came upon the barren world of Daremo, they slowly became amused with it's vast nature and lifeless culture. The world had once been home to the god's birthplace but it was moved when a small war between Ichele and Izumi revolted againts the other gods for creating beings to kill at their own whim. Ichele and Izumi, though with good intentions, created the first race on Daremo, humans. Though they lived peacefully for afew years, soon some of them began to detest the gods whom created them and started to buld a army to attack the other humans, whom held their gods high.They held all the old gods motives and even made slaves out of each other in the endless fighting the started up.Saddened and concerned about the Humans, Izumi created the Elfs, a race of beautiful and intelligent long eared humans. They gave them the power of life, so they could communicate with nature, and told them to stop the Humans from destroying themselves. Though they quickly became targets of the evil humans themselves. Seeing a vast number of his own creations dying, Izumi became enraged and then created the Demon race. He set them fourth to kill all of the warring humans, which they were able to accomplish in very little time. This turned out to be a huge muistake for Izumi, even though the demons started to rid the Daremo of the Warring humans, they soon started to kill and devour the humans who blindly followed their gods.

For nearly a hundred years the humans and elves fought against the demons but were quickly losing ground against them, as their powers were that of nearly half gods. Ichele was furious with Izumi. he went behind her and made things even worse. Not to metion he didn't even stop the demons. Having become fed up with him, she sealed him inside a hellish realm and created the demonic planes, which she imprisioned the demons in. Atlast, it looked as if peace could return to the barren world but that was not to be so as Izumi, still being a god, used his powers to great a greta rift in the demonic plains and se fourth his own creation, the demons, along with his new one the Bloodless, a race of dead warriors who attacked only humans and drained them of their blood.

Ichele, unable to stop the demons without destroying her own creations, made two more races to help protect the humans and elves. The first is the now extinct race called the eternal eyes, whom were god-like in all aspects and were considered holy beings by the eleves. The eternal eyes meet with rousing success agsint the demon race bu had no effective means of which to kill or stop the Bloodless. In another attempt to stop Izumi's plan of killing all of the humans, she quickly created a race of winged humans whom had god-like powers of life and could return the dead to life. Since she didn't name them, the Humans quickly began calling this race "Angels".

The angels were sent by their god Ichele isntantly to aid the humans in killing the Bloodless, but they were meet witha single problem; they could not kill. If a angel tried to attack any living being it would instantly become a human, a fail safe by Ichele if they ever went rouge. But she had known ahead they needed not blood shed to stop them but their own gift of life. The angels took heavy losses before they were able to relieze, too late at that, that by ressurecting the bloodless with their powers, they could turn them into humans or elves. This relization came as of too late because the demons had already takken control of the Angel's weakness and slaughtered thousands of them, making way for another nearly extinct race.

Ichele was in despair, she had tried to govern her creations different than Izumi and the other gods before him's ways but that only made things harder for her creations. She watched in horror as the demons and Bloodless laid seige to the elve's and human's villages and small towns. Ichele had seen enough death and appeared before her creations and spoke. She told them that she was going to sacrifice her own life to creat two more things to aid them. The first was the final race to be created, the Azure Wolfs. As their lifeless forms soon became active, the Azure Wolves appeared to have been given powers of their god herself but also retained a mortal coil. they were elvish in their beauty and strength, human in their general appearance, angels and Eternal eyes in their powers.

After creating them, Ichele picked up a handfull ofl rocks and pressed them to her chest, sending her lifeforce into the rocks. after what seemed like a eternity, she held her hand out to the nearest Azure wolf and let drop a large crystal, the size of aten human fists clenched together. It glowed with a bright pure white light. It was pure. Within minutes of handing over the crystal her body slowly started to fade away into nothing, she spoke her last words were "One ending you know, is really a new beginning. We are not finished, our journy will still continue, don't you think that's true?."

With the death of their goddess, the Humans, Elves, and Azure Wolves formed together and marched upon the demon and bloodless rift to hell. With the Azure Wolves abilities, they quickly made short work of the bloodless and camped upon the rift itself, using the crystals divine powers to seal it, making a small portal. The elves, being as intelligent as they were, created a marble seal upon portal an shut it enchanted it with the crystal.

They had won a huge victory over the demons, but it was far from over, thousand of them still scoured about the world, seeking out hiding places among humans and across the sea from the mainland. The three races quickly went their seperate ways, with the Elves taking their leave across the sea, never to be heard from again. The Humans and the Azure Wolves rebuilt the ruined mainland and for a time there was peace once more.

Legend of the Azure Wolves disappearance----------------

The Azure Wolves, entrusted with the Twlight crystal, as they so nick-named it, found that the humans were not all as faithful as they were or others. A battle hardened veteran started to think about why only the Azure wolves could hold the crystal, Humans sarficed just as juch as them. Plotting, the human raised a small army of the bets warriors and marched upon the grave of the Ichele to take the crystal for themselves. The Azure wolves, forbidden to attack or kill the Humans, hid the crystal and created a dense forest that consumed a quarter of the mainland and covered up the Ichele's grave, where they hid the crystal. the humans, unable to penatrate the forest, began to attack Azure Wolf camps along coastal ctities of the humans and by the portal. After losing thousand of their own, the Azure Wolves hid them selves away into the great forest or in the northen mountains. The Humans ahd no choice but to retreat back to their cities and towns and thos who remained loyal to the Goddess Ichele, merely prayed upon her return.

Here and Now----------------------------------------------

Nearly three-hundred years have passed and the five Azure Wolves have have been living amoung the Human race for years. The five are Jake Tsukai the current head of the royal guard of The Hadele Empire and his little sister Hanabele Tsukai a priestess. The other three Tanaka Estai the local blacksmith for the humans, Kiki Sordina the only healer in the village, and Hiiaragi Hsunai a former royal guardsman of the Human Hadele empire. They have been choosen by the village elder to head to the Hadele empire's capital city of Ichibia and sell their lattest caravanning exploits. Little known to them is that it is a trap that has been set into motion by a local militia trying to seize the throne. The village elder is unaware of the trap. The five are also in the village's caravan dedicated to exploring the mainland and some of the islands around it.

Lord Hadele is one of the four empire kings/lords whom control the mainland. Only the last one isn't human, but infact a Elf. Lord Hadele governs over the western coast and south eastern great forest border.

King Htero is the second empire lord and goverens the northen wastelands. He is a barbaric king and kills for enjoyment. Hadele and Htero don't see eye to eye.

The third lord is King Estaci and he governs the eastern coast and part of northen mountain pass into the Kilimare Mountains. His empire is one of law and order where the best healers, swordsmen, and arctitechs resides. The cities themselves are relics of the wars gone by.

The fourth and final lord is King Raigas, the elven king. He governs the entire Giuarden forests and as a elf tends to keep away from the Humans. he is also a personal friend to Lord Hadele.

In the middle of the mainland is the portal to the demonic realm, though without the Twlight Crystal all hopes of unsealing it are void. Two azure Wolves secertly guard it from Humans and roaming demons alike.

West of the Northen mountain pass is the cavenerous underground pass through triiram, the abandoned Elven city. It's one of two routes to the Hadele empire's main city. It's also littered with Bloodless and a evolved type of Bloodless, Blackeyes, the corrupted Eternal eyes whom's souls have been taken away.


The Mainland and Surrondings---------------------------------
The Mainland is the largest continent on Daremo and contains the largest variety of species. It has underground tunnels, mountains with snowy peaks, four coastlines, eight forests covering 40% of it, treacherous rivers, a barren wastelands, abandoned cities and villages, acient ruins, and four major empires ruling over nine different sectors of the mainland.

There are Two islands and Four Isles around and off Daremo's coastlines. The islands are mainly located further out near the northen coastline but the two closest are on the eastern coastline only. The Isles are human and elven made islands made out of volcanic rock and steel. They were made with many lives lost. At two weeks sailing distance in good weather lies the small continent of Hetero that is about 1/8th the size of Daremo. It has treacherous waters that have been cursed by the Azure Wolves as it is their only holy place where Azure Wolves can unseal their latent powers after birth.

Biography:Jake Tsukai is one of only afew thousand living Azure wolves today who carry the site of Ichele's grave. He is strong and like many before him is trained in the art of swordplay. He is the head of the Royal guard for the king and maintains a posistion of power there. The king knows he and his former head from Jake's village were Azure Wolves, but they have kept it secert. Jake is set bethroted to the king's youngest daughtered by accident, he accidently walked in on her while she was dressing up for a diplomatac meeting ebtween the four major empires in Daremo. As the human law states that if a women of age, that being 17, is seen nude or in any type of scandelous way must take said man as their wife. The law was passed because of husbands cheating on their wives and has been set into motion for nearly thrity years. after being confronted by the king and threatened with execution, he has reluctantly agreed to marry her on the firts week of harvest. Jake is now forced to stay by the king's side day night because of a recent assasination attempt, which he is grateful for in a way because now he can avoid the future women in question.

Biography:Atoli is the King Hadele's youngest daughter and most innocent to boot. She is young and beautify and has been set after by many suitors hoping to steal her away and the Hadele empire at the same time. She was trained as a temple priestess but switched to a diplomatic future at her father's side. She has a deep crush on her father's head guard, Jake Tsukai, but is afaird to relay her feelings to him or her father. She was getting dressed for a diplomatic meeting oneday when she accidently knocked down a glass picture case on the wall, causing Jake to rush in and see what had happened. She was already half dressed but was still abit...exposed when Jake saw her and quickly flipped around and left muttering his condulences and asked her not to say anything. She let slip to her father during the follwoing dinner and he quickly went after Jake and forced him to speak the truth. Because of her accident, she may have to tell him her feelings seeing as he has to obey the empire's law. Atoli believe's she rushed him into it and it's her fault.

Blade Arm/Cursed Arm(A fist to Blade type, the Crused Arm/Blade arm are only found in half breeds. The blade arm varity merely has had their bones reassembled in their arms to form and hold blades. They can block even the strongest of magics if they have a developed enough. The crused arm verison is nothing less than pure demonic entities man-infesting the users arm. The demonic arm doesn't just form a blade but also many other forms of weapons such as whips or tentacles, but the most common is a armguard with extending blades. This power is rarely seen up close for two reasons, the first being it kills the user off fairly quickly and only thirteen half-breeds have survived it's final phase and the fact that it is so hard to resist the attacks from the demonic infestation.)

Azure Alure(A demi-god type that relies on their powers of death and life. They can rip a beings soul from their bodies and rend into pieces, thus negating any chance of being resurrected and will kill them off completely. They lack dexterity and agility and only make up for it with their ability to make themselves invisible. They are normaly born with wings as wel but they are fragile and wak so long use will destroy them.)

Biography: Korai has never been one to reveal much about his past, maintaining an air of secerecy about himself. Though what he has shared has been a bit confusing, talking about this all-encompassing 'Hedge' which brought him into Daremo, to the abandoned city of Triiram. Wielding magic that appears to be a form of geomancy, it is a wonder as to why he even keeps the ill-perserved katana. "It's valuable to only me," is all he ever speaks of the blade that remains sheathed. As a non-native, easily seen by both appearence and garments, his affliction of being a Cursed Arm is different from other. Korai is strong and healthy, not prone to becoming sick, yet still has moments of weakness in which he retreats into The Hedge. Tales from those who tried to follow through these temporary portals oft speak of briar bushes that hinder travel, yet allowed demons to roam free. Retreating before the doorways closed, there is never sign of it existing, for any door can be used by him to reach an ever dangerous place. Now Korai travels the lands in search of something, of which he refuses to reveal, but speaks that he shall know it when he finds it.

Jake Tsukai felt a something lay against his head and turned over on side. He flicked at whatever was bothering him since he was up all night on the return trip to his village. As he started to fall back asleep, his bed mattress was rudely and strongly ripped out beneath him, causing him to fall on the floor. "Damn......that....hurt!" He cursed silently, sititng up, and rubbed his eyes feeling someting hit him in the back. Turning around he saw his sword's hilt and the egde of it's golden sheath lodged beneath his mattress now. "Hanabele, if you woke em up so I can just make your breakfets i'm going to hang you ou the window!" He said pissed off. Looking up at the figure whom had done this to him he quickly stood up holding his covers to him and sword at his side. "So-sorry your highness, didn't relieze you arrived!" he stammered. It wasn't rare to see Lord Hadele pop in and out of his own villages and towns within his empires grasp but so early in the morning had caused him to be off guard. "So, what is it? You don't come all the why out here and knock me on my arse for no reason, or do you get your jolies doing it?"

Lord Hadele rubbed the back of his head, feeling his crown, and grinned. "Jake my boy, to you, I sure as Ichele's heart would! Ahem, but that isn't why did. I'm here to talk about the week of harvest, it's only a month away and you will be related after all, not to metion how Atoli is doing right no-"

Jake raised up his hand quickly and yawned. "Listen that was just a ACCIDENT, your the king and it's your law, over turn it or something. I'm not ready for this kind of thing now. Besides, your wrong, harvest is in two weeks and four days. Now can we talk about comething of importanc-"

Lord hadele silenced Tsukai with his hand and spoke slowly. "Listen you, I can't overturn my own laws, it will cause the citizens to go into a uproar. Besides, I wanted to hand down to you the family creast, it's only fitting as your be my son in law soon enough." He said grinning. Reaching into his pocket, Hadele pulled out a small pendant with a wolf and a dogs on it fighting over a crystal the size of two human heads. "My ancestors made this to show what the barbaric northen wasteland tribes did to your kind. It's also a elblem of passage, you can use it to show your official links to me."

None to pleased witht he small speech, Jake picked up the emblem and laid it on his bed side table. "Fine, but I really only saw from the side, the law says exposing, thats more like accidental peeping...." He said, trailing off in thought.

Rioki had walked the same path for so many years; this abandoned city was her home, no matter how little it felt like it. She closed her eyes, and pictured how her home should look. This old city was haunted with Bloodless and Blackeyes. This home isn't home, she thought. This is hell.

Suddenly, something jumped out at her. Rioki wasn't surprised; a pack of bloodless. She'd fought these same creatures thousands of times before, so it didn't matter how many there were. She defeated them quickly. "Ew..." she muttered silently as she tore them apart. "Disgusting."

Jake quickly got dressed and headed out of his small house, seeing Lord Hadele's entourage leave with him toward the capital's trail from the village. He looked over toward the sky and sighed, it was still dark out and even the sun had yet to peak the horizon. He held his sword up on his shoulder and headed toward the village market center.

Triiram was certainly not the most pleasent place to be, though it certainly had the potential to be far worse. Korai was moving aside rubble when he heard the outbreak of a fight. Interested, he made his way to the source of the commotion, only to see a girl standing in the midst of a pack of dead demons.

"Disgusting? I hope you aren't referring to me," came his voice from behind the girl. "For we have yet to meet." Closing the distance between them, yet giving room to avoid tensions, he looked over the deceased. "What do you call these? They continue to refuse to even speak to me and reveal what they are."
