Soo...yea...I woke up because my doorbell was ringing and my dog Cookie was barking, and i looked at the clock and it said 7:24am (my parents aren't home from 6:00am-1:00pm) and i was thinking "okay, if it's someone who needs to be let in they'll call my cell phone or the home phone so I'll just let it ring."
and it stopped after like another minute, so i figured it was probably just an early salesmen or something like that. rolleyes
But then, as I'm drifting back into sleep, i see the shadow of a man walking outside my window (my window faces the back yard, and we have a 6ft privacy fence) and Cookie perked up as i heard the sound of someone knocking on what i believe was my living room window confused (my window's next to the living room kinda and the back door) The shadow left, and i didn't hear or see anything else. and of course I'm not about to get up now (and i think the sight of my brinks alarm scared him away)
When my mom and step dad got home i told them about it, and they were looking outside for any evidence. Then the doorbell rang and a neighbor decided to tell us what she saw because she was walking her dog at the time
She said it was a young male wearing a white t-shirt and blue jeans and a black ski mask (not pulled down) and that he had been knocking on the door and ringing the doorbell. Then he kept looking in through all the windows gonk
I hope he doesn't come back sad
anyone else experienced something like this?

Well honestly I doubt it was a thief, they wouldent knock on all the window's and then walk away. And brinks wouldent scare them since most people have it turned off. It's more likely someone that works for the city that checks the utilitys, they go door to door knocking on everything, and they will go into your backyard if your not there. Or it was some kid trying to cut yards and stuff. And your neighbor seeing a ski mask pulled up could easily be some kind of hat, cause if its pulled up she wouldent beable to tell it apart from a regular snow hat, which alot of people wear in hot and cold weather. So, it probly wasent a thief.

Ordinarrily I'd agree with you, But around here If you're not home utility people wont go in your yard especially if you have dogs barking somewhere...my gates are locked anyway sweatdrop My alarm was definitely on though, my parents are always too paranoid to leave it off. (now i'm glad they do turn it on) It's easy to tell too, because there's a red light under a word that says "armed" or something like that
and all due respect i don't think a kid trying to cut yards would be ringing my doorbell nonstop, start looking inside my house, then hop my fence and knock on a window around 7am
I respect your opinion 3nodding ...but i have to disagree sweatdrop

Trust me, i've been robbed countless time's, so you kinda learn a few things about thiefs after a while.
Kid's and adults will both constantly knock on your door trying to make some quick cash by cutting your yard or what ever.
But I mean seriously, think about it Why would A thief come to the windows and knock on them? They'd wanna be as quiet as possible.

Kids around here don't do that, like i said i have a 6ft privacy fence, and the gates are locked. A person just cutting yards wouldn't hop the fence, just to knock on a few windows and whatever else. My step dad's a cop, and he was explaining that criminals will try to learn about their target before trying anything. More than likely if he stuck around to knock on windows and ring the doorbell, he was the type who tries to figure out what time you're home. and if you are home, he probably poses as a salesperson.
But there's no sense in arguing, everyone has their own opinion 3nodding

I'm gonna argue anyway's :3, and how did your neighbor see a kid knocking on your window's if he was in your backyard, since you have 6 ft fence. And if your dad's a cop he of all people should know the basics atleast of how a thief would act.

lol okay then, But let's keep it respectful 3nodding
I'll explain it again (from both pov's, and the short version) I was woken up by my doorbell ringing and Cookie barking. After a while it stopped (this is about the time the neighbor said she saw the guy ringing the bell and knocking on windows[front windows]) Then im trying to go back to sleep and i see his shadow on my window(which is in the backyard) and heard him knocking on the living room window(also in the backyard) I do indeed have a 6ft privacy fence, which is why he definetly shouldn't have been in my backyard(especially with the gates locked and such) The neighbor did see him, while he was in the front yard looking inside and ringing the doorbell and knocking on windows Yeah, I'm pretty sure my step dad knows what he's talking about, he's been a cop for the city for over 20years

My view is still unchanged, Liveing in memphis alot of things happen, and that just dosent sound like a thef. I mean, even the newest and the dumbest thiefs would knock on the window in a "locked" backyard, which leads me to belive otherwise. And your neighbor talked to you while you where saposedly in your bed "drifiting back to sleep" and during all of this he was in your backyard knocking on windows.
So my conclusion is You your neighbor and the kid are in on a hiest. The guy would come in and take all the money in the house so he knocked on your window to let you know he's here and your neighbor being a look out for your parents or the cops, and you where gonna run away with it all after killing the neighbor so you didnt have to share it and live in a nice house on an island with they guy, soon to be lover". You almost got away with it >:3

You almost got away with it >:3 What do you mean my neighbor talked to me while i was sleeping? If you read above, you'll see where it clearly states she talked to my parents. When i said "this is about the time the neighbor said she saw a guy ringing the bell and knocking on windows" I meant that that was probably the time she saw him. Like i said in the first post i put, She told my parents later that day.
Look, This is turning into an extremely ridiculously stupid argument. You're trying to tell me what happened to my house...You don't [1]know where i live [2]know the people around here [3]understand the difference in behavior of people from different cities [And 4] you clearly have no idea that people from different parts of the country (even different parts of cities) behave differently.
With all due respect, I'm done arguing this point. You don't live around here, and you weren't here. Now if you would kindly drop it like a mature person, and leave me alone, because i believe you have no right to tell me that what happened wasn't what i think it was.

What state do you live in? Cause I'll promise you've I've been there :3 Anyway's I got a pretty good picture of things.
And a thief is a thief, no matter where you live, but i'll humor you with your "ideas"
And with little respect I am not a mature person, Mature people dont get very far. :3 But i'd suggest controling your temper, anger blinds your judgement.

Let's assume that this was true, knowing there is a little girl in the house he could have easily kid the door down or break a window,

I'm sorry to kopalani but I have to agree that it was most likely a theif. He was probably checking if anyone was home at that time. He most likely didn't come in beacuse of the dog barking.
As for temper, she has a right to get upset when someone is telling her that what she experienced isn't true. And really, she held her composure quite well. No swearing, no caps. She was just letting you know that she didn't want to continue an argument that would certainly get her angry.
