I just wanted to post this because I think that it's a really awesome way to get ideas and can help you improve. When You're stuck for an idea, put on your favorite songs and stuff. Just listen for a bit and see what the melody gives you. It can inspire you to draw a love scene, action, anything! Give it a try and post to let me know how it works out!

That's interesting.
I usually listen to music because it helps me do almost anything.
I read and write better with music (unless you're talking about something extremely boring), I draw better with music, I run better with music, I study better with music (despite what my councelor says), etc.
And yeah, sometimes it gives you ideas. Or just helps the more artistic side take over. It's something that helps me out a lot, and I tend to have trouble doing creative things without music...

I can't draw without music; something that is soothing but lets my mind be free enough to draw without thinking so much. I love listening to Amy Winehouse, The Killers, and actually songs people think are rather corny lol. wink

When I draw, I always put music in the background for inspiration. I don't actually know any of the bands I listen to, though. xD I sort my files by who I stole it from, so for instance, if I wanted to to draw an angry picture I would put some stuff on snitched from Matt. >w<"

Personally, i make playlists of my fave music on youtube, then play them back at a louder level while i sit alone in the living room with pencil and paper.
Like you've already stated, It's almost insperational, Like the music Video "Hellsing OVA - Lies" .
XD I have a tendency to listen to violent music...but it helps..It's like lubricant in the gears of an engine, it helps the brain work better!

ENYA. If you want something nice and peaceful and pretty to listen to, listen to ENYA. I love her music it's so nice..... also good for meditation and just plain pretty soft stuff.
Though usually when I draw I need actual background noise like the TV on or something...... I don't know why, I just can't draw when it's quiet. Sometimes I listen to music but it's usually the TV while watching a movie out of the corner of my eye. Thats usually what works best for me lol....

If I'm drawing someone elses character, I try to listen to music that reflects their personality, and if I can't, Nana always does the trick!

Oddly enough... even if I listen to music constantly I don't think it affects my drawings per se. I mean, a good tune can give me the energy to finish a troublesome piece (or run out of the room, jumping with exitement in some cases) but the mood of the music rarely matches the mood of the drawing.
The mood of the picture comes from the person I'm drawing and the music merely works as fuel, together with hot beverages, food, candy and the occasional venting depression.

Yes, music is my biggest inspiration! Each time I listen to my favorite song I get so much ideas for drawings and my manga.
