I'd like to know your thoughts about the candidates, commercials, issues, campaigns, ect... Seeing as how we are more likely to vote than the general Gaian population.

I personally, don't care to much for either. But McCain lines up with my values, more.

McCain does have a few ideas that I agree with but I think I'd be more likely to vote for Barack Obama because I agree with him a bit more often. Plus John McCain lies so hard! I mean we all know politicians lie but he's far beyond the usual stuff.

If the wall of text doesnt say something to you, try reading it lol. From someone who claims to be the "Straight-talk express" and talks about military honor, its completely shameful. And how is a republican candidate who has been part of the washington establishment for who knows how long suddenly claiming he's a candidate for change? If he really wanted to make a change I'm sure we wouldve seen it by now. He's voted similar to Bush on alot of stuff as well. Yet now, he's the man to make a change in Washington? Excuse me as I die from my allergy to bullsh*t. And listening to 15 minutes of the debate last night was too much for me... as I sat here screaming at my pc screen and my husband laughed his butt of at me but whatever.

That said, Barack Obama doesn't have much experience at all. He has some good ideas but I'm not really sure how that will pan out if he does get into office.
It really is a choice between two evils in this case.

I'm voting for McCain. Don't nessecarily like him, but he follows my main points of interest more closely then Obama. I do not care for his personality on bit, though, and kinda hope he croaks and Palin can take over.

Obama, on the other hand, I find very rude and under-experianced. Some of his comments make me want to smack him. I seriously doubt he'd achieve much in office besides gaining more enemies.

Eh, they both suck. as my dad days 'prepare to grab your ankles no matter who wins'.

Fortunately, there is Obama, a brilliant Harvard Graduate (magna c** laude). McCain graduated 954th out of a class of 959 and he laughs about it. He has voted for the Bush policies that have ruined America. We are on the brink of bankruptcy, the middle class is suffering, 47 million people are without health care, our status as a world leader has declined, etc. John McCain has been in Washington all those years and has voted with the failed Bush policies over 90% of the time. He is too old for the Presidency and can't even use a computer. How does he expect to lead us into the 21st century?
As for "hockey mom" Palin, she is a loud mouth, trash talking, right wing zealot. She mispronounces words ( pundint, verbage), says she has foreign policy experience because she can "see Russia from Alaska". She is under investigation for abuse of power which the Republicans are trying to stall. In short, a complete ditz.

Ok, you can state why you like or dislike a canindate, but please don't push your opinions onto others. Just because I'm not voting for Obama doesn't mean I'm not intelligent, thoughtful or refined.

BTW, the incident with Palin you mentioned- the side you never hear in the liberal media is that of her sister- the woman that cop (her ex-husband) was abusing his authority to harrass. And I've researched much of the stuff on Obama's site about his 'experiance' and found much of it to be hyped-up (for example, the international relations committee he 'chaired' that he actually only attended one meeting of). And please, don't start on Palin miss-pronouncing words, Obama is certaintly no better ('my grandpa liberated Auschwitz' ringing any bells?). Lastly, I'm sorry for starting sentences with 'And' 11th grade english teacher....

Well, I'm a Socialist (which is not the same as a Communist or "National Socialist", before you get on my back) at heart. I don't really agree 100% with either McCain or Obama. I don't really agree with the two party system for that matter. Voting along party lines is really no different (in my opinion) than sticking your head in the sand. This country needs more choices for office than just Democrat and Republican. I'll probably be voting for Nader...again. Even though he won't win, I like him and it encourages more people to run.

Honestly, politics is what it is. It's nothing but a bunch of propaganda. That's all it is. Vote for me for this...vote for me for that. I don't even know who's telling the truth and I question everything they say. I'm not sure who I'm going to vote for or what. Politicians lie and whomever the president ends up being is going to have to clean up the mess that has been made. Yeah, it is a mess. Look at the economy. People losing jobs, food and gas are going up and there's no jobs to counteract it. This economy needs a serious boost or something. Otherwise we're going to have to go back to the farming days.

All I know is I get sick and tired of hearing so much slang being spoken against candidates. I don't give a s**t if your eye glasses cost 700 dollars or anything stupid like that. I just want to know where you stand on your issues and if you can back them up. I get so tired of hearing that people actually believe that Barack Obama is the Antichrist and that he's Muslim. He's not a Muslim, his dad was raised Muslim but later abandoned the faith. It's so weird hearing that. People just need to stick to the issues at hand.

I've been watching the news and reading the latest news articles, and I was less than impressed by McCain's grab for attention during the negotiations about the financial crisis. It really made him look like a political hack. Back when the whole "Under God" bruhaha exploded, congressmen raced around looking for someplace to yodel "under God" at the top of their lungs like political whores looking for a John. This had the same nausiating feeling. I really lost a lot of respect for McCain that he used the present crisis to beat the "I'm so important that only I can broker a deal. See! Just me phoning members of congress has resulted in major progress!" drum. I felt sick to see it. Despite the subsequent problems, in some corner of my mind I am nearly ashamed to say it, I was snidly happy to see things blow up in his face as the deal he and his great political power had created disintergrated into a morass of political infighting.

When I saw that, I went from swaying towards Obama one moment then swaying to McCain the next to firmly being in Obama's camp.

Obama? Well, he has potential. If he is intelligent, picks good advisors, and learns, we will have a good president. And yes, I see that if. It's a big one.

I really wish there was a better canidate. I just don't like my choices and feel that no matter what we are screwed.

Angry b/c in ED half the Posts are " OMG! Obama's Awesome. McCain is just another Bush. I hate you. You spelling is wrong so your point about politics is moot." The other half are less intelligent than that.

On top of that, most of them can't/won't vote.

i seriously weep for my country if the McCain/Palin ticket wins (though there are whispers that she may quit/get dropped, yay!). especially during this campaign, McCain has shown himself to be very ignorant of America's current problems and barely ever comes up with an effective solution to anything. his campaign has been reactionary and gimmicky ("i'm suspending my campaign until there's a resolution to the financial crisis! except i'm not really suspending my campaign and i'm not going back to Washington after the debate. oh, and i totally ******** everything up when i actually got to Washington. you're welcome, American citizen!" rolleyes ). he has voted more than 90% along with the Bush administration (which i also dislike for many reasons) yet totes himself as a "maverick". please.

Palin is scarier. i would be ashamed as an American if the first woman we put into our highest executive office (and one heartbeat away from the presidency) was as anti-feminist and incompetent as she is. against abortion even in cases of rape and incest? are you ******** kidding me? in addition, that small town she was a mayor of had women paying for their own rape kits and was left with a mountain of debt when she left to become governor. the fact that she cites her closeness to Russia as "foreign policy experience" is a ******** joke.

i'm voting for Obama. not a perfect guy in any respect and i would like him to be a bit more experienced, but i like his platforms and respect the perspective from which he sees the world.

I have never liked David Letterman, but this just moved him up a notch or two in my mind.

The Newsweek poll alleges that 67 percent of Americans are unhappy with the direction the country is headed and 69 percent of the country is unhappy with the performance of the President. In essence 2/3 of the citizenry just ain't happy and want a change. So being the knuckle dragger I am, I started thinking, 'What are we so unhappy about?''

A.. Is it that we have electricity and running water 24 hours a day, 7 Days a week?
B.. Is our unhappiness the result of having air conditioning in the summer and heating in the winter?
C.. Could it be that 95.4 percent of these unhappy folks have a job?
D.. Maybe it is the ability to walk into a grocery store at any time and see more food in moments than Darfurhas seen in the last year?
E.. Maybe it is the ability to drive our cars and trucks from the Pacific Ocean to the Atlantic Ocean without having to present identification papers as we move through each state?
F.. Or possibly the hundreds of clean and safe motels we would find along the way that can provide temporary shelter?
G.. I guess having thousands of restaurants with varying cuisine from around the world is just not good enough either.
H. Or could it be that when we wreck our car, emergency workers show up and provide services to help all and even send a helicopter to take you to the hospital.
I.. Perhaps you are one of the 70 percent of Americans who own a home.
J.. You may be upset with knowing that in the unfortunate case of a fire, a group of trained firefighters will appear in moments and use top notch equipment to extinguish the flames, thus saving you, your family, and your belongings.

I know, I know. What about the president who took us into war and has no plan to get us out? The president who has a measly 31 percent approval rating? Is this the same president who guided the nation in the dark days after 9/11? The president that cut taxes to bring an economy out of recession? Could this be the same guy who has been called every name in the book for succeeding in keeping all the spoiled ungrateful brats safe from terrorist attacks? The commander in chief of an all-volunteer army that is out there defending you and me?

Did you hear how bad the President is on the news or talk show? Did this news affect you so much, make you so unhappy you couldn't take a look around for yourself and see all the
good things and be glad? Think about it......are you upset at the President because he actually caused you personal pain OR is it because the 'Media' told you he was failing to kiss your sorry ungrateful behind every day. Make no mistake about it.

The troops in Iraq and Afghanistan have volunteered to serve, and in many cases may have died for your freedom. There is currently no draft in this country. They didn't have to go. They are able to refuse to go and end up with either a ''general'' discharge, an 'other than honorable'' discharge or, worst-case scenario, a ''dishonorable' ' discharge after a few days in the brig.

So why then the flat-out discontentment in the minds of 69 percent of Americans?

Say what you want but I blame it on the media. If it bleeds it leads and they specialize in bad news. Everybody will watch a car crash with blood and guts How many will watch kids selling lemonade at the corner? The media knows this and media outlets are for-profit corporations. They offer what sells, and when criticized, try to defend their actions by 'justifying' them in one way or another Just ask why they tried to allow a murderer like O.J. Simpson to write a book about how he didn't kill his wife, but if he did he would have done it this way......Insane!

Turn off the TV, burn Newsweek, and use the New York Times for the bottom of your bird cage. Then start being grateful for all we have as country. There is exponentially more good than bad. We are among the most blessed people on Earth and should thank God several times a day, or at least be thankful and appreciative.' 'With hurricanes, tornados, fires out of control, mud slides, flooding, severe thunderstorms tearing up the country from one end to another, and with the threat of bird flu and terrorist attacks, 'Are we sure this is a good time to take God out of the Pledge of Allegiance?'

Politics has got to be the dirtiest form of 'entertainment' media around. I think I would rather deal with a room full of teenagers with raging hormonal problems than the world of politics... LOL

With all joking aside... one of the things I do take seriously in politics is which person/candidate is going to represent the people better? "People" target a number of facts and figures in a number of different industries and environments...

Lets face it, no candidate will ever succeed in everything, but, if they can make the argument happen, push for a greater good, to go up against Congress (the almighty knuckleheads of the government LOL)... I would be more in-tune with that kind of reality... not the common empty-promises that are thrown during a campaign/debate/Q&A session.

Ive been actually reading ALOT of things on this particular candidacy... Lets face it.. its is the most important, high-leveled landmark of a presidential race in the history of the USA. We arent just talking boots needed for the s**t that gets slung around... we also need full protective gear... its coming around full force!

There are a few things that matter most to me: Women's Health, Healthcare, Education, Fiscal Responsibility and Medical Care in general.

With all due respect, I have a problem with any candidate who willingly admits that their goal is to take away birth control, a woman's right to have an abortion ( I have personal limits on this procedure, but that is from another thread I replied about), how sex education and health education will be taught, how limiting health insurances are to those who truly need the coverage, to those who are here illegally, who need to be thrown out of our country permanently, but think they have a right to be here under amnesty....

Please understand, this is my own opinion and Im not pointing at anyone here on the thread, but.... Palin/McCain are not, in my opinion the best choice for the Presidency/VP of the White House. What right does Palin have to preach about how Roe vs Wade should be overturned? Has she ever talked with a woman or a teenaged girl who was truly raped and then found out they became pregnant from their attacker? There is so much behind the psychological factor of a woman who has been victimized to the point, that carrying a child that was NOT conceived out of love or that of a willing sexual encounter, constitutes a "too bad, you cant have an abortion because that is the law".... You want to see some serious s**t fly? What if you are informed that the fetus has found terminal medical problems that will either be a death against the unborn fetus and/or the mother if she chooses to continue?

I have a problem with Palin's suggestion at making birth control harder to obtain, ESPECIALLY if you dont want to have children, or cant have children, or in my personal case.. if I attempt to conceive, I WILL DIE....?! Birth control serves many other purposes other than to prevent pregnancy... Try my 15 yr old with a severe case of Mesessina Folliculitis, Extreme heavy and painful periods and moodiness because her hormone levels are off, which are all due to family medical history.....

How about leveling off the hormones for women who have Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (like me), that without the birth control pill, I can run into serious medical problems...

Oh, and by the way, if I never had any medical problems, I would DEFINITELY be on the birth control pill to be a responsible sexually active woman who has been monogamous with her partner of 9 years. He and I are not in a position to conceive children due to my current medical afflictions, and we dont want anymore children... But, I enjoy making love to him as he does me, but more so, knowing that we are doing this responsibly....

No politician has the right telling me what I can have access to. Their religious beliefs need to be kept private and out of politics. Palin, (again, its only my opinion, and it is not an attack against anyone here) ... that woman has no right preaching the "Christian values" when it became public that her daughter got knocked up.

Now, I really feel bad for that girl... I really do. She has been dragged into politics as a weapon against her Mother because, lets face it.. you live in a religiously limiting home, you tend to stray away from the teachings.... You tell your child "dont do this", and for the most part, it can anger them to the point they are going to do it anyways. Its a proven fact. Palin does not have the right to throw her religious beliefs and teachings into her candidacy and tell the people what she thinks should be done... its just not right...

Its like Chris Rock said "vote for the person with one house: He has alot more to lose"... I couldnt agree more!

Granted, Obama isnt much of a saint either.. .but, my views have directly matched with Obama's current standing in his political career of endeavors... What Obama is fighting for and for what he stands clearly makes more sense to me in what we need in a president-elect.

The Middle Class has been long forgotten, the low-income class continues to be ignored while the upper class and the filthy-stinking-stuck-up-Rich are continuing to profit off of everything McCain has vetoed against so the Oil companies continue to skyrocket in earnings and bonuses.

I make 15.00/hr and it is not enough.. Im barely breaking even even with the tight budgeting I do, and the careful spending I spend. Im looking for a part time job to supplement my full time job because what is considered decent money, is too low to survive on with today's standards.

McCain/Palin in my opinion, are not showing any matches in what my beliefs are in the political world... They have yet to impress me, in fact, they seem to be forgetting to bring along the toilet-paper when they speak.. because they are so full of s**t, its getting smeared in places I just dont want..
