I was wondering if anyone else read the books? Or is planning on seeing the movie?
((And is my poll maybe a little too biased? xd ))

My sister reads the books, but I stick mostly to my geeky stuff (Forgotten Realms books, Snow Crash, Eragon, Harry Potter, etc.).

I have a tiny inkling that someone in the vicinity does not like Edward.
I love the books. I look at them from a distance and think "This is crap!" but then I can't stop reading. eek Breaking Dawn is so weird; it's not written like a normal book. The beginning feels like the end and then at the end, they start gearing up for the climax, and Bella's revving up her superpowers, and then nothing happens! I sort of thought that was awesome, actually. Surprise!

((The Eragon books are win))
Me? Not like Edward? How did you guess? xd
I know what you mean about thinking it's crap but reading it anyways. xd By the end of New Moon I was seriously questioning Smeyer's sanity for writing something like that, but I just couldn't stop counting down for Breaking Dawn (which I thought was epic fail xD Creaturesue made me wanna die inside).
How about the movie? Anybody going to see that? I have high hopes for the movie, because they won't have Bellasue's inner worshiping. Plus, Taycob is just awesome (and jailbait, but we'll ignore that bit. ninja )

You know, just a feeling. ^_^
I love Renny! Except her name, hence my calling her Renny. I don't like that she exists, but I like her, you know? I've said it before, but I really do have a hard time hating any characters. Man, though, Nahuel was such a writer's convenience I couldn't stand it.
Of course I'm going to see the movie; no matter how good or bad it is, I can't just not see it. I think casting could have been better, but I do like Alice and Bella ad Jacob.

As much as I like Jacob, I don't like him with Bella. It just doesn't feel right to me. So yeah, another reason I like Renny. I do want Jake to be happy.
The Romanians were AWESOME. I only wish they were around more. Garrett's cool, too.

I think, for me, one of the reasons I really like JakeandBells is that they're relationship just seems so much more normal. I can see them going to eat pizza, bowling, having huge arguments over where the couch goes, and other common, everyday things like that. I know Edward can't eat pizza and has certain restrictions about where and when he can do things, but I've never, in the entirety of the books, read something that seemed small and just plain fun. They never seem to joke together, have secrets (well, other than the whole vampire thing xD), get into fights over stupid things, etc etc. I guess the idea of spending your time agreeing and fawning and cuddling sounds so unattractive to me that I just can't like it. I mean, they never even talk about having common interests. What do they talk about when someone's not trying to kill Bella?
Also, Edward kinda creeps me out sometimes. He'll (sometimes cruelly - and I'm not saying that you can't be cruel, because god knows I'm no angel) make fun of Bella, forbid her to do things or see people (and yeah, sure, it's love, but isn't love supposed to come with respect?), and, possibly the creepiest, check the odometer on her car to verify what she claimed (and she had a perfectly acceptable excuse).
As for Jacob imprinting, I hate it. He spent, what, a book and a half? talking about how he hates imprinting and how it forces you to do something and break promises. But he sees Nessie and imprints, and suddenly he sees the light? He knows the truth? Doesn't that seem kinda Ninteen Eighty-Four to you?

i see your point, but i'm not sure i agree with everything. i mean Edward is protective and doesn't want her to get hurt, or STALKED for that matter. I sorta don't see a connection between Jacob and Bella having a relationship.

I'll admit, the odometer thing doesn't seem right. Edward doesn't seem to understand the difference between protective and possessive, but see, that's when they do get into little fights.
Edward and Bella do like the same kind of books and music and stuff (going from classical literature to nu metal, but that's a different story), though the subject is sort of dropped later on for the more plot-related things. Going out for pizza and stuff isn't really an issue after Breaking Dawn, but even before that, neither of them seems to want to. If they don't want to do "normal relationship things," why should they have to to satisfy everyone else? And if Bella suddenly had a serious craving for pizza one day, she's got other friends besides. It's not like if one person in a relationship doesn't want to or can't do any one thing, the other person can't either.
I agree on your last point. I don't like that whole thing with the imprinting in principle. I can't hate it entirely though, because it does make them happy. Some people have complained that the book is awful for giving everyone what they want, but I like to see people happy. Having it come at the expense of principle isn't good either, but I'd prefer it to anyone being miserable.

I guess for me, it's just a very big thing, being possesive and restictive. Just for giggles, have you seen this? http://organizations.rockbridge.net/projecthorizon/signsofabuser.htm I was reading an epic re-read on LJ, and the writer kept linking to this site. Edward's got 3, 5, 6, 7 (the car thing), 15 (the 'you're all I need' part), 23 (the mountian lion and deer thing xd ), and 24 (doesn't he at some point mention that he used to eat humans?). I don't actually think Edward is absusive, though. Just annoying. xD Without normal things, like pizza or bowling or whatever, Bella and Edward's relationship seems mostly built on their passionate love for one another. Which is all well and good, but what happens the morning they wake up and realize they've lost that flame? It's a sad but true fact that the feeling of passionate love does not last forever. You can feel close to someone and love them forever, but after the flame has died, you're gonna need things to keep you together, like simply enjoying each other's company for pizza or bowling. Also, other than Angela and Jacob, Bella doesn't really have any friends. It's just too perfect. I mean, I want them to be happy, I really do. But I still think Bella should have had to suffer some consequences for her actions. She shouldn't have been able to still see Charlie, and should've had to deal with the fact that she broke Jacob's heart. Jacob and Leah should've paired up, I think, instead of inventing a new character for Jacob to have his happily ever after. Ah, Leah. xd She gets nothing, and Bella gets everything. Leah, who didn't let her lost love ruin her life (sure, she's bitter, but she's not suicidal or despondant) and has some dreams for the future, gets nothing. Bella, who cooks, cleans, marries her first love, and dies for her child, gets everything. The message there creeps the ******** outta me.

All right, that's a total stretch, except for six and seven, but yeah, it is sort of funny.
The thing is, it's a fantasy romance novel. That pretty much means that no matter what would really happen, the flame's never going to go away. I mean, look at the other vampires. That's just how they work.
Angela and Jacob mostly, yes, but also Eric, Seth, Mike, Ben, Embry, Alice, the other Cullens to an extent...
I would have liked Jacob and Leah, though. That would have been my first choice. I do feel so sorry for Leah. I don't think there's a message there at all, though. The thing about Twilight is that despite all of the crazy stuff happening, the characters aren't twisted to fit some greater design like a great symbolic truth hidden in there. It's just a story. That's why it's OK for me.
Difference of opinion, I suppose. I've got to say, though: You're probably being the more logical one here!
