I really like Edward. So probably Twilight. Harry went totally Emo in the last few books, and Ginny is totally a selfish idiot, so I don't really like Harry Potter as much as I heart Twilight.

Harry Potter. Meyers admitted the entire series is her personal sexual and romantic fantasy, and I have a distinct distaste to seeing people dance naked on the cafeteria table.

Seriously? Twilight doesn't even begin to size up to Harry Potter. Twilight has way too many holes in it's plot for me to like it. You can totally tell that Stephine Meyer hasn't fully developed her universe or even her characters for that matter.
All those books basically are is Bella and Edward saying 'I love you' back and forth.
And yea, yea, sure, Harry did get a little emo in the last few books, but what did you expect to happen? The kid was traumatized! He saw Voldemort murder Cedric Diggory AND Bellatrix kill Sirius Black, not to mention many of his friends and allies getting killed during the war. Did you really expect him to stay a happy, carefree teenager after seen that s**t? Plus, Bella's WAY too MarySue-ish for me to ever like her, and Edwards just a f**. Both are very one dimensional characters, they lack the complexities that the Harry Potter characters have.
Sexiness isn't a justification for Harry Potters existence. They're BOOKS! They're not porn novels, they're BOOKS! You shouldn't be judging the merit of a book based on how hot the characters are or how hot they're described to be.
I know that I'm probably going to get a lot of s**t from the Twi-tards in this thread, but whatever. The Twilight books are ******** boring and I'm sticking with that. Good day to you. =]

Alright, completely allowing for anyone's preference for or against adventure or romance being the center of the plot; we can still judge a book by it's writing style. Rowling successfully writes someone going through the throws of puberty, while Maeyer sounds as if she herself suffers from them. Personally, I prefer adventure driven by romance to romance driven by... absolutely nothing, which is what Twilight is. This is not to say that the Harry Potter series is adventure driven by romance, which is hardly surprising considering the ages of the main characters. I mean, at fourteen; you may say you will love someone for all of eternity, but the main portion of the population will laugh at you when you do, and laugh harder when you decide you hate them a week later. And the Harry Potter series, while some people have complained that the mythos borrows heavily from classical myths and legends, that's a far sight better than taking the name of a classical beast and making up everything about them; which is what Maeyer has done. While everyone is entitled to their own opinion, if you are of the opinion that the Twilight series are better books (not that you enjoyed them more, if you enjoy florid teen romance in which the author makes up a classical mythos whole cloth that's your business) then I have every right to laugh hysterically at you.

nice.. and this is why I don't ask "which is better" questions..
Now to answer the question, I would prefer the twilight series (no offense Kitty) rather than the Harry Potter series. I'm sure that if I had read the HP series before watching the movies, I would have been more.... interested in them. When I began reading the HP series last year (before reading the Twilight series, mind you) I couldn't really read them for I got bored. (I know that that's how some of you feel about Twilight too) I guess it's just the way my taste in books is.. And I don't disagree with some of you guys' points, and some of them I agree with. Psh, I have found a better vampire book, so I crossed out my argument. talk2hand
