hum, it would help if you had a line art reference too, just so we can see whats going on. Try doing a layer with just one really dark colour and white (or a really light colour). With such dramatic lighting it will help to see where the light and dark are going, and add the details after. good luck with it biggrin

i can stick a lineart version up if you want. my main problem isnt with the lighting on the character so much.. its the screens below her that are projecting the light. im thinking about adjusting it so theres loads of screens instead of buttons (which was my first idea) hopefully be finished in the week (animation comes first :S ) anyway thanks for the comments and advice. if you still wanna see lineart (my lineart is pretty messy cos i pretty much go straight to paint if its not actual a lineart) please ask biggrin

I'm not quite sure what you mean about the lights. Are you having trouble deciding how they give off light, how many there should be, how to make the rest of the board...? like I said its difficult to know where you want to go with this, since its in such a transitional stage right now. The screen idea sounds interesting, are you thinking flat screens all sort of facing her and giving off that computer screen sort of light? Sorry I can't be of more help, I hope it turns out alright biggrin

Okay so I'm guessing the lights are coming from two points below. From what I know is that light bends and reflects. So what you can do is probably have the middle as the darkest area since it's blocked by the character's body. I think it would mostly be around the sides and areas in other places where it would probably just a ton of reflective light.
I hope that makes sense...
Because I konw you're not trying to do a spot light thing (right?) so light spreads and bounces off, and stuff... I hope it helps.
It doesnt have to bee too bright on the sides since it does fade away and such, but anyhoo, I hope it helps...
