I am a traditional artist, and I have noticed how digital art seems to be in more demand than traditional. I cannot mouse draw, and I don't have a tablet, but someday I want to be able to open up an avatar shop and get paid.
I was just wondering if it was me being weird/paranoid again or if digital is really more in demand. Have any of you noticed anything?

Traditional. I would never leave my pens. Hell I'll draw in those tones and shades myself if I must xD (seeing as I don't have the manually paste-on screen tone anyway....)

Personally, I like traditional. But yes, I noticed that digital is usually prefered. I think it's because digital looks more professional...
Oh well, maybe I'm crazy too.

i use traditional for the main coloring then edit it and bring in a background using digital.

I prefer traditional drawing and I sell traditional drawings.
However I use the computer to fix things like darkening the image or so.
I also do digital drawings but I feel that traditional style allows more of the artists style to come out.
Think about this, in traditional style it is much each easier to show every little detail from the shades to a single strand of hair in the breeze.

I cannot draw with the mouse to save a life, even though I'm practicing (to be able to draw random doodles with my friends online). I also don't have Photoshop or any special computer-illustrating programs.
I do think that digital art is highly in demand. In a digital world, it shows up better than traditional art. No colors messed up or details left out by scanners.
I love traditional art because I can make so much more stuff with traditional art. But I love digital art because it is pretty cool. I'd love to color and do shading and all that with my computer.

I think that digital programs are really cool, but I've never gotten the hang of it. I really prefer my pencils and pens. I tend to find a happy medium, though. I like to create lineart in my books, then scan it in to the computer to color/touch up. That's how I add lettering most of the time, too.
I just like the control I have over pencil better! I know exactly what I'm going to get, while programs seem a bit complicated and unreliable to me.
Digital is definitely in demand, which makes me sad, especially with how American cartoons are pretty much all going CG now. I think you need to keep up with the times and try to use computer programs a little unless you want to be left behind. But finding a good medium, like I do, is completely passable and possible. lol

Eh.. I do both. Traditional more often because thats how I make my comics, I don't color them a all that, just black and white pencil, then i'll outline em an all that.
For avitar art, it's all digital, all done in paint, mainly because I do not have a scanner, but also because I love paint in general.

I'm working hybrid. The perspective always gets scr*wed up when I try to sketch in the computer, so I do sketching and first lineart by traditional means. Colouring is another thing. I can't colour with pencils to save my life - don't even mention markers XP
I scan the lineart, and usually re-draws the lineart in a new layer if I'm feeling pecky. Sadly, my tablet recently crashed gonk so I'm working with mouse...
I wind that the colouring stands out more if I do it by digital means :]

Tell you the truth, I think me buying a tablet was a waste. I am all for traditional. But art is becoming more digitalized nowadays and it feels awkward for me. Especially drawing on MS Paint...not only does it require mad skill for a good drawing, but they are always pixelated!

Hard to say. I like both, but I don't really view most digital as artistic as traditional, since the computer does most of the work for you, so I guess I have to say traditional.

Hmph, honestly, I like both, but since I'm not that good in digital I do my drawings mostly traditional and colour' em with markers (are my life). But... Yeah I think digital art is more in demand 'cause... it has their style and details well made, for me, but I think you can do things that great in traditional, too...

I love the look of digital art, but I also adore well done line art. I think people here tend to look for more digital art than traditional now.
I will do my sketches and line art be hand, but I do not have patience for traditional coloring, so I use my computer for that. I will paint by hand on a canvas. Somehow doing that on the computer looses all the fun for me.
So I guess I'm half and half.
