Magic vs. Machine: The Coming War ((Needs People))

It is the year 4017 AD, and humans are the most popular race in the world. Coexisting with humans are the espers, or magic beings. Humans have also taken an interest in creating artificial life. There are special surgeries available in the world that can change one's race, but sometimes the procedure fails, creating a half-breed. The espers have always despised the inorganic life humans create, and they have been plotting to wage war with them for generations. The robots have been plotting to wage war with the espers at about the same time. The wars to come could potentially kill all of the existing life on the face of the planet. It is up to some of those of all races who disapprove of the wars entirely to stand up for what's right, and possibly save the planet from total extermination.

Here are the rules:

1.) No god-modding/power-playing or auto-hitting.
2.) Don't be a noob. The story doesn't revolve around you.
3.) I would prefer you to be at least semi-literate.
4.) Romance is acceptable but keep it PG-15
5.) I am allowing race mixes.
6.) The rules will change, but I will notify everyone about the changes.

Bio: Vayne had always been fascinated by the world of magic and espers, but his parents never allowed him to take the surgery to become one. They had the money, for he was part of one of the richest families in the world. He hated his parents, because even though he got everything he wanted, he felt like he was too spoiled and not allowed to get to do the best of things in life. On his 17th birthday he decided to steal some money and get the surgery. Unfortunately, the procedure was a failure, and he became a half esper. Fearing his parents would find out, Vayne changed his last name and fled from his home town. He now travels the world for no real reason.
Personality: Vayne is shy towards new people, wont hesitate to take action, is a real nice guy if you get to know him.
Likes: Video games, reading novels, listening to music, traveling.
Dislikes: being in big crowds, meeting new people
Other: Can play the trumpet, violin and piano, but he prefers not to draw attention to himself.

Bio: Lily was born under a full moon into a family of animal morphers. Taking this as a sign of good luck, they waited patiently until she reached the age when she would change [about 4 or 5]. On her 4th birthday, she spontaneously morphed into a black cat. Odd no? Her parents were shocked, but just accepted it. From there, they taught her about guns and so far she has not missed a single mark on accident.
Personality: quiet and calm, Lily usually opens up to people eventually. Tends to sum people up at first glances.
Likes: her guns, cats
Dislikes: dogs, innocent murder
Other: can hit any target she pleases.

Bio: Born in a shack in the middle of no where inparticular, his mother died while giving birth becasue of his powers, neither of his parents had powers. At the age of 13 he killed his father in self defence, now he wanders around looking for things of use
Personality: stand-offish, if he sees a large group he will walk around or go in the other direction, one or two people is fine though
Likes: things of use and people who arnt jerks
Dislikes: jerks and junk
Other: when angered or provoked his shadow takes over

Vayne wandered around the desolate ruins of a town. "What could have happened here," he said to himself.

Lily sat at the bar in her hometown, sighing to herself. Her journey across the lands is gonna be a long one, she thought idly. Chugging down her glass of coke, Lily left a good tip for the bartender and headed out. She decided to go kill some time in the ghost town. Dashing in the general direction, she came across the outskirts to see a guy wandering around. Hiding herself, she grew a bit curious, and turned into a cat. Meowing softly, Lucky started licking her paw and rubbing her ears.

Vayne wandered around some more, then saw a black cat. He stood bewildered for a moment, then walked a bit closer to it.

"Meow?" Lucky's ears perked up as she heard footsteps grow near. She looked at the man curiously, then slowly walked over to him. Rubbing against his legs, Lucky mewed softly.

Vayne flinched a bit as the cat rubbed against his leg. He carefully reached down and stroked it's fur. He thought, Why am I paying so much attention to a cat? Maybe it has something to do with being a half-esper.

Lucky purred as he stroked her fur. Heh..... I get too lost in acting your role, Lucky. she thought amused to herself. Looking up at the man, her eyes twinkled slightly as she mewed softly, wanting to be picked up.

Vayne noticed the cat wanted to be picked up, so he decided to do just that. He reached down and picked up the cat and started to stroke its fur again. "I wouldn't ever open myself up to someone if it was an actual person," said Vayne.

Lucky purred softly, curling up slightly in his arms. She looked up at the guy, puzzled at his words. Meowing softly, she sniffed at his clothes. Mmmm.... he smells like different areas....interesting

Vayne walked on a bit farther, then heard some men walking towards him. He quickly hid behind a shattered wall of an old building, hoping the men didn't notice him. He put down the strange cat.

Lucky meowed softly in protest as she was placed on the ground. Once the footsteps of other men hit her ears, she sunk into the shadows. Transforming into her human form, Lily turned the corner to make sure the boy hadn't seen her. Cocking her head to the side, Lily raised an eyebrow. Her hand was on the pistol in her back pocket. "Do you need something?" she spoke softly to the men.

Vayne noticed a girl suddenly appear, strangely from the same place the cat walked off to. He just stared at her and was debating whether to reveal himself to get away, or to stay and be safe. He chose the latter, but didn't say a single word. He just kept staring at her, almost as if he wanted her to go away.
