Okay this is a pic of my own character, Roku Kidd. This was a 10 minute sketch, I am new to making 2 eyes and guy anatomy. This is NOT the greatest XD So please gimme tips :3 The shoulders are too slanty : And the eyes are ******** up, but yeah... That's what I notice XP Any tips???

Well, firstly, that face does not fit the head, and that head does not look right. Try working on getting a good face shape.
Also, the body looks quite strange. Study up a bit on proprtion and anatomy and you'll do good. ^^

@;;ShinyDollar;; Thanks for the tips XP Yeah, I am definantly a newb at the male body structure. D: Mmm, the head is creepy looking XD I never cared for the face -_- Then again, I wasn't purely serouise on this, just wanted the main spotlight to be the hoodie, which needs to be fixed lots... ^^; But yeah, once again thanks for your tips :3

Well, I would lower the nose a bit, widen the eyes, and make him more straight and square but that's just me.

I don't find the point in fixing this drawing. This drawing is just a start to developing your drawing abilites.

Here's what I suggest. Ofcourse, keep drawing. Take what the people above me said and apply them to your next drawing. Take notes (either mentally or physically, doesn't matter) on how your drawing compares to a real, live human. How high are the eyes compared to the ears? How does the hair wrap around the human skull? How big should the shoulders be? Ask yourself these things and find the answers. Obviously, if your artist eye isn't trained, it's very, very helpful to study an anatomy chart, some diagram of the human body. Everyday, I skim through my anatomy books so I could remember simple things like "the shoulders are ~2 heads wide", etc.

In other words, study up on anatomy. Buy drawing books, read them, practice drawing all the characters in them, memorize simple anatomy formulas, learn about the muscles and bone structure.

The first thing you need to do is set the framework for your character.
Keep in mind where the joints are,
watch your symmetry.
Use a ruler at first if you have to, as your character is leaning very precariously!

Getting the clothes on the shoulders right didn't seem to come very hard for me, I think all you really have to do is get the shoulders right, ya know, the anatomy, I think i've always stretched the shirts to exactly on the shoulders/body ya know what I mean. But I also have a fetish with really baggy clothing. >.>

I guess it could also depend on the collar of the shirt an all, they come in many styles, you could even have the collar of the shirt come down past the shoulders, so that their exposed ya know. Hope this helped anyway.

Right, everyone have their own methods. Some can actually look at their own piece and see what is wrong (I know I can't until it's too late XP ) and others can look at anatomical maps and it does magic.
I do that stuff too, but for the drawing itself I recommend making a skeleton first. A ball for the head, a box for the chest and so on. Then I'll go on drawing the character without clothes. That way I don't have to bother with silly things like folds too early.
These steps alone should always take more then 10 minutes before you are an experienced artist!
Really, your art deserves that extra time of your life. It's worth it.
Last but not least, you add clothes. This ought to be piece a cake compared to getting arms and legs on the right place.
