I was wondering what everyone thought about Sampling. Some define it as copying a picture and some don't. I for one think its an interesting method but is too close to copying. What do you think?

I have no idea what sampling is. Could you please describe it a bit more?
It's impossible to have a totally original art style, but nobody should flat-out copy another artist's style.

Sampling? Like referencing an eye style as a smaller part of a bigger drawing in which the rest is original? Well, that's OK in my book. To me a sampling is just that, taking a small sampling to help develop a better whole.
My current eye style is a sampling of an eye style I've seen other artists use, but I do not reference their entire works, just the eyes. And, just like when I cook, I add my own little flair to what I am working on. In other sketches I've done sampling with hair, shading, or accessories. I don't post a lot of that in here as it is usually art I'm doing for others or just my experiments to develop my style, and often only partially completed.
Oh, and you never want to sample my cooking, it isn't often worth the risk to your taste buds. I can burn water. I made Skittle cookies, and caramel brownies that glued a friend's jaw shut. Fair warning. xd
