This is a hard one. As far as personality, I think L is a lot more likeable. He's funny and often pretty cute.
On the other hand, I think that Light had a noble and respectable goal, and I know that if I had a death note there's no way I wouldn't use it. I think that once Light started killing innocent by-standers, (spoiler, highlight to see) like L who had never comitted a crime or all those american FBIs like Ray Penber (er, I think that was his name...),was when I stopped supporting him so much. Even so, Light seemed like a good guy at heart and I can't help but like someone who wants to make the world a better place.
Still... L is cuter. xd heart sweatdrop

As respectable as you may think Light's goal is, he's killing the majority of mankind. Humans are capable of sinning, and by eliminating all sinners, not only are others hiding all their sins and their normal behavior in fear, but Light is the biggest sinner of them all. Would you like to be in a world where you were afraid to do something bad, weither it be major or minor, in fear of being killed? The reason Light had killed innocent people were to test out his death note, or to eliminate those in the way. I see his reasoning, but his goal is still wrong. He wants to make a world a better place, but only for himself and his family, no one else. He doesn't have others in mind, and he is selfish. Light is Kira, and Kira isn't justice. L was and will always be justice, even if he is in the form of Near or Mello. L is better in my opinion.

Poor Light, not as much love xd I love L the most, even though everyone seems to have already said that. He's also really easy to cosplay, so its fun for a last min. kinda chatacter.
