Ovarian Cysts. Anyone have experience in this area?

I have poly-cystic ovaries. Because of this, I cannot conceive naturally. It also has other health complications. I am insulin resistant, which may one day turn into diabetes. I am prone to being overweight, and it's a constant struggle to keep my weight down.

I never wanted children, but when I found out that even the possibility was now greatly reduced, I felt a sort of panic. I had always assumed that if I ever changed my mind, I could just do it, and now I know that if I ever want to have a child, it will be costly, dangerous, and a struggle from start to end.

But there is so much support out there, and so many different possibilities. If you're worried about having children in the future, and not having working ovaries, I suggest you look into having eggs harvested now. That way you have a back up no matter what.

I wonder how the OP is doing, her first post was about a year ago. Did you get insurance?
I've had cysts burst, extremely painful-- doubled over, can't move to call the ambulance pain. Ovaries are the same as testes, so I can see why guys don't want to get hit in the balls.

Had cysts and endometriosis and bad scarring. Had one ovary and one fallopian tube removed when I was about 27. I very much wanted children (that was how they were removed, the doctor was doing exploratory surgery to see what was preventing me from getting pregnant. They don't do that so much these days, thank God). The next year I had an ectopic pregnancy in the remaining fallopian tube. The doctors told me to look into in vitro fertilization. Insurance wouldn't pay for that at the time and it was quite expensive. I had begun to save up and seriously look into it when I became pregnant. I had a healthy daughter.
So you see, anything is possible.
