These are, with one exception, site-wide rules, presented here with guild-specific application and commentary. All black text within the body of rules is taken from the Terms of Service and related articles, and any red text is my addition.
Be literate in your posting and include a poll in every thread you make.
Never display any personal information that could be used to find you in the real, off-line, world -- for example, your full real name, mailing or home address, or phone numbers. If you do not honestly believe that information could be used to find you in the real, off-line, world, then it is acceptable to share it.
Do not "stalk", harass, threaten, or defraud other guild members. Harassment between two or more guild members but not occurring entirely within the guild may still be considered to break this rule.
Do not send, post, or make available pornographic, threatening, embarrassing, hateful, racially or ethnically insulting, deceptive, tortious, defamatory, libelous, or otherwise inappropriate or offensive content to other guild members. Content must both fall into one or more of the enumerated categories and be either inappropriate or offensive, to be left to the judgment of the mods, to be considered to break this rule.
Do not make unsolicited or inappropriate offers, advertisements or proposals for goods, services or other commercial activities outside of Gaia, or send junk mail or chain letters to other Members. This has never been a problem and I would like to keep it that way.
Do not impersonate another person or access another Member's account without permission, or impersonate Gaia staff. Do not access a guild member's account without permission or in order to make use of any moderator power including accessing locked subforums.
Do not fail to deliver payment for any purchases made in the guild. Do not fail to deliver agreed upon payment or prizes for any activity taking place within the guild.
Do not share Gaia-issued passwords with a third party or encourage another Member to do so. The ToS prohibits the "access [of] another Member's account without permission". Do not share passwords in the guild or encourage other users to do so.
Do not misrepresent the source, identity, or content of information transmitted via Gaia Online, (such as claiming a created work as your own that is not actually yours) or otherwise infringe any trademark, copyright, right of publicity or other right of any other person or entity. An action must infringe such a right to be considered to break this rule.
Do not use or encourage others to use the guild for any illegal purpose. Come on.
Do not use guild features for anything other than their intended purpose, including exploiting guild glitches for personal gain. If you find a way to break this rule, don't.
Do not interfere with any security-related features of the guild. If you find a way to break this rule, don't.
Do not intentionally interfere with the operation of the guild or any member's enjoyment of it, including intentionally posting inflammatory statements to get a reaction ("Trolling"). Only actions accompanied by an intent to interfere with the operation of the guild or a member's enjoyment of it, to be left to the judgment of the mods, shall be considered to break this rule. This includes the refusal to abide by the command of a mod.
Do not post, request, or link to sexually explicit material or conduct. To be left to the judgment of the mods.
Do not discuss, promote, or depict any form of child sexuality, abuse, exploitation, or related topics that may be harmful to or threaten the security of a child or minor. An action must both discuss, promote, or depict a form of child sexuality, abuse, exploitation, or a related topic and be potentially harmful to or threaten the security of a child or minor to be considered to break this rule.
Do not post or distribute any content that contains software viruses or other code intended to damage or interfere with any software, hardware, equipment, system, data, or other information of the guild or any third party. Come on.
Do not decipher, decompile, disassemble, reverse engineer or otherwise attempt to derive any source code or underlying ideas or algorithms of any part of the guild, except to the limited extent applicable laws specifically prohibit such restriction. If you find a way to break this rule, don't.
Do not use bots on the guild; buy, sell or trade Gaia gold for non-Gaia items (including cash) or vice versa; or attempt to hack or scam other members. Come on.
We can't do anything about most problems if you don't let us know there is one. If you feel that someone is breaking the rules, talk to a mod.
