CHARACTERS
Name: Kaori Background/Personality: Kaori has lived in the same small town all her life. Her parents died when she was young. Because of this she has had to learn to work hard for all she has. She now lives in any shelter she can find, and eats whatever she can catch or steal. She is very skilled in weapons, especially the short sword, and always carries one with her. She has a very strong personality, doesn't mind hard work, and is most of the time respectful. She can be a bit moody sime times. She has minor powers she picked up various places from other people, as she has the ability to learn other powers, although if she doesn't practice she may lose them. They are always very weak.
Name: Chiya (meaning 'A thousand nights') Age: 18 Species: Mimic Shapeshifter (can shift into an animal if she makes contact with one) Personality: Chiya is quiet, stubborn, and too nice for her own good. She has many leadership qualities and she is very creative. She is mostly a loner. Bio: Chiya is immortal. She is not sure how it works, but she has been around for a 'while'. She is in search of her twin sister that she was seperated from at birth. Extra: Chiya has a blade that she takes everywhere with her. She calls it Araz and it glows when she is mad.
Araz
Shen
Name: Shen Age: 23-ish Race: Merman Personality: Tends to be a little shy on the uptake, but typically warms up to new people rather well. Shen picks up on the emotions of others rather easily and their feelings may deem his attitude toward them. If he feels hostility, he will match it or avoid that person altogether. In general, he is an amiable and gentle soul who rarely angers and as such, does not know how to best cope with that particular emotion. Shen attempts to avoid negativity whenever he can. He does have a somewhat overweening sense of curiosity, especially about things he doesn't understand. Bio: Shen grew up in the Pacific Ocean, frequenting the coasts of China and Korea the most. He lived a rather normal life for a merman, learning his father's trade and receiving basic combat training. He recently left his home waters in search of something new and has found himself closer to the coast than ever. Abilites: Shen can communicate telepathically if need be, but has a distinct preference not to. He has a thread of magic running through his blood that allows him to heal himself and others, though the latter can be rather taxing on him. As any mer-creature, Shen can breathe in and out of water. There is a possibility that he can transform into a more human appearance, but he hasn't quite mastered this yet.
Nutrino Starwind Name: Lynx Species: Demon Background: Lynx was exicuted after several hundred convictions of murder and theft at the age of 24. The trial had been rigged so that he would be exicuted without anyone having a chance to hear his defence. A life of sin condemned this man to an eternity in hell. His time in hell mutated his body somewhat as well as giving him unnatural powers. He has now been given a task by his superiors, which has allowed him to come back to the living world through a hell portal. Personality: Athough he is now a demon in appearance Lynx has managed to retain a few strands of humanity but even so his anger at the moment of his death has turned him bitter and hate filled, yet it doesn't show in his actions or in the way he talks to others. He is honest ssome of the time but can't be trusted. Name: Akari(meaning light) Age: Unknown, although, she is younger than Chiya because her immortality took place before Chiya's did. Species: Controlling shapeshifter Ability: Unlike her sister, she cannot become a copy of an animal. Although, she can enter a creature's mind, read their innermost thoughts, and take complete control if she wishes. Personality: Quiet, reserved, cautious, caring, adores Chiya, and creaticve. She has follower qualities instead of leader. Bio: Chiya and Akari were separated at birth, Akari was determined to go after her once her parents let her leave the house. A terrible fire took place, and as a result, Akari's home and their parents died. So, she has been searching for her beloved twin sister ever since. Extra: Her favorite animal form is the cat. Chiya laughed and nodded. She jumped with delight and walked over to Shen. He looked uncomfortable. Chiya frowned. She had only given him a small vocabulary. Perhaps it made sense to increase it by a hundred words or so. She reached forward and laid her hand in his hair. It was soft and it smelled of the ocean's salty water. She blushed slightly. She wasn't good being around males, any males. Chiya had no problems touching or conversing with animal males, but Shen appeared and felt like a normal human. Shaking her head from side-to-side, Chiya dismissed all thoughts in that area. She had business to attend to. Reaching forward to gently brush his mind, she prepared to make enough contact to transfer. She squeezed her eyes shut and within seconds, she was done. Instead of the tiny and simple vocabulary, he should now be able to understand other things. Like cereal, or car. Shen, we are taking you with us to the museum. The museum is a place where they keep the bones of creatures who died here on Earth in the past. Our people have no knowledge of your species' existance. So, there will be no bones of your kind. Would you be okay going? (Dear posters at Midnight Rain, I am afraid that the system is acting...idiotic. We will either have to wait for someone to fix it, or I will create a new topic titled 'Midnight Rain-continued'. I am so sorry for this inconvienance and it appears that this roleplay is having issues as well. I have already reported these things, but I am afraid that they won't tend to them right away unless there is more complaints. Please click on the Report Guild and state your issue.)

Shen relaxed a little when he heard Chiya laugh, noticing that Kaori's expression wasn't negative in relation to it. Did that mean their argument was over? It seemed so and he took Chiya's action of putting her hand through his hair as a confirmation of that. The merman blinked when she brushed his mind in the same way she had when transferring some of her language to him. He was a little startled when she did it again, if anything because she hadn't really given him fair warning about it. Shen blinked slowly after the transfer was complete, finding that he knew several new land words but not what they meant. He'd have to be shown examples of them if he were to fully comprehend them. The merman looked up at Chiya as she spoke to him in his mind, feeling a bit uncomfortable with this museum place. He wasn't the best with being around dead bones, they kinda creeped him out. Shen did feel relieved that he wouldn't be seeing any merfolk bones, that would have been far too much for him to deal with. He was reluctant with going to this museum, but if he was to learn how to walk better and what land society was like, he supposed he'd have to get over it. The merman nodded in reply to her question, hoping that the people who ran the museum wouldn't recognize him for what he was.
(( All the forums created before the 27th of this month have been acting up. What I've learned is that once we post enough to have it scroll to a new page in a forum, the problem ceases to exist. It's worked for almost every RP I'm in, including guilds. Maybe we could try that? ))

Akari sat on the curb, nibbling at a strawberry Pocky stick. She was quite bored, waiting for something to catch her interest. So far, she had run into two drunk bums, five gangster guys, and one perverted rapist. Of course, the bums passed out before they could lay a hand on her. The gangsters found out that they weren't they toughest in the city, and the rapist? Well, he might want to reconsider reproducing in the future if he had wanted to have kids. Akari's silky, white hair fell around her shoulders in a curtain. Her onee-chan had always liked putting her hair up, but Akari didn't feel comfortable wearing it that way. It made her feel exposed and when it was down, it felt like a protective veil surrounding her. She looked up just in time to catch a glimpse of a figure in the shadows. He was leaning against the alley wall, looking quite still. Akari stood up and walked toward him, a Pocky stick still in her mouth. As she got closer, she was able to see his features more clearly. Brown hair fell into his pale face and his eyes appeared to be dark with a bored expression in them. "Excuse me, are you a vampire?" Akari asked quite frankly.
(onee-chan: big sister in japanese. Pocky: A japanese snack that is a cookie stick dipped in flavored cream. It is sold in packs)

Shen quirked an eyebrow when Chiya disappeared from the room, reappearing a few moments later with some odd looking stick like things. He closed his eyes when she touched his forehead, again without warning, and watched as a sort of vision showed him what they were for. From that, the merman was able to guess that an ankle had something to do with the lower part of the leg, the part one balanced on when standing. When Chiya held out the crutches, he quirked an eyebrow again. She wanted him to use them? Did he really look that pathetic when he tried to walk? Shen knew that he was inept at best when it came to walking, but that was because of a lack of experience. Didn't young humans experience that? He had assumed so, if only because young merfolk could only learn to swim after about a year of life. Maybe the merman had been wrong, maybe human young were able to walk the minute they were born. "Do I really have to?" Shen asked hesitantly. He didn't really want to have to use those crutches, but if it was insisted upon he supposed he'd do it.
