I dreamt such a wonderful dream of you
While I layed waking one morning in bed.
For a moment I thought it to be true
But to my sorrow, was just in my head.
I tried to sleep and return to the dream
So I could once again feel your embrace.
All my effort was in vain, it would seem
As all I felt were tears stream down my face.
I wanted to forget so that I may
Continue without subsequent sadness,
Yet each time that I closed my eyes that day
It seemed I would be driven to madness.
How I longed to tell you about that dream

Did nothing to extinguish the fire

Progressed into undying affection.
This I could not confess, knowing that when
I did I would be met with rejection.
Several years passed, and you were set to leave
I knew not if you would ever return.
All my feelings you had yet to perceive
I had to ensure of them you would learn.
I tried to be subtle and give you time
To learn gradually all on your own
But even when my hints were at their prime
It still appeared as if they were unknown.
With time falling short, I knew that I had

To my surprise, you were not even mad
As you sat patiently listening to me.
I poured out my heart, and with pleading eyes
I watched close for your candid reaction.
You brushed off my words as if they were lies,
Claiming I was just feigning attraction.
Feeling defeated, I tried not to cry
Wishing I had left you in ignorance.
I started to leave without a goodbye
But then you stopped me to make your advance.
With your lips pressed to mine, I froze in place
And for a while everything was still
Except for my heart, which began to race
I never thought I would get such a thrill.
My bliss was cut short as you then explained
Why the two of us could not ever be.
I could not help but feel even more pained
By the kiss you should not have given me.
Still you were by my side, just as a friend
Helping me through all heartache and sorrow.
It did not take long for my wounds to mend
Knowing you would be there on the morrow.
I still hold out hope that you will one day
Grant me one more intoxicating kiss,
Though I know inside it is not your way
I live out my life for moments like this.
