I "hate you" poem
*****************

Blue

What can I say
when you seem to say it all?
For once I am the lost sheep of the herd.
Following blindly the guidance of the shepherds of my past
Myself has been lost amongst the grass.
But then you... you seemed to say you had seen it before.
Amazed! I was!
But I am scared to follow another once more.
No, no my pet this path is safe,
No commitment, no need for embrace.
Fear not the path that leads to a persona such as your own,
for it is indeed a special one.

I swore you knew me,
Hell you claimed that you saw!
So why do my extremities ache from this haul?
Do you know where we are going?
Have you actually seen me at all?
As time goes on I wonder what you could have meant by it all.

No worries, dear blue, I can clearly see.
You took me as someone you had once known before.
Revenge, sweet revenge might finally be yours!
Now I understand what was meant by the implications to sadness you said I'd endure.
Now tell me, dear blue, did you have no clue I had felt them before?
Curse be to you for punishing me.
If you would have just listened I would have set your heart free.
I had no intentions of dependence on you dear blue.
Nor it seems did you on me.

Are you in a band, dame? That second one was written like lyrics.
PostPosted: Mon Feb 08, 2010 9:11 pm
-blushes- redface redface redface No, but it was playing in my head as a song when I wrote it. God, that was senior year of hs. I can still remember what it was about. rofl

For serious, I am blushing now. stare How ridiculous is that?

I wrote lyrics a lot when I was in high school. Actually, for both my creative writing and poetry classes, I even sang them when it came around my time to share. I was too unmotivated to look for a band, though.

And... I was going to try to write something new, but being that I've been too distracted, here's something about as old as what Dame posted for the I Hate You poem:

------------------------------------------------------------------------
Why should I care about your stupid problems
Listening to you bicker and whine all day
You act as if the world had ended
And you are the only one left alive
Doomed to spend eternity
Lost and alone, with no one to hold you
No one to kiss you and lie to you
No one you can con into loving you
So that you can suck out their soul
Spitting it out afterward like it was worthless
Then rip out their heart with your bare hands
Throw it on the floor and stomp on it
With your 5 inch stiletto heals
I hate the way you make me pity you
Your fake tears and running mascara
If I didn't have morals
I would show you real pain and misery
I would rub your face in it until your nose bled
You treat me as though I am nothing
And you need the attention you never gave to me
I've had enough of it
I hope you die a long, painful, lonely death
And in your last moments you will think of me
All I gave to you and all I shared
You will wish you would have been better to me
For I am the best you will ever have
But you are too blinded by your self pity
To realize that I even exist
It will occur to you
When you no longer feel the warmth of my arms
Nor the touch of my lips
That you were never alone
By then, it will be too late
For I am already gone

---------------------------------------------------------

so yeah... you can probably guess where I got my username from...

I think I would have keeled over dead if I had to sing something out loud in high school. I'm still pretty nervous about it now.

Which is kinda funny because as I read your post, I thought about it and I wasn't in a band but I was in a singing group during hs, one I actually started. It was outside of school and completely unrelated.

NOT AN ENTRY FOR THE CONTEST

Speaking of your username...

You've Stolen
You've stolen my soul,
You've then laughed in my face.
You've stolen my soul,
You've said I couldn’t keep the pace.
You've stole my soul,
You've then ran and won the race.
You've stolen my soul,
You've and left me in this place.
You've stolen my probably 03/04 KMW

I'm pretty sure this was written senior year of hs too, around the same time period/life event as the other one, lol.

I never did any kind of singing activities outside school that weren't school related, except of course singing for amusement in the privacy of my own home or at gatherings that called for it. I was in choir all throughout high school, though... I was even in the "honor choir", though at my second high school that didn't really mean anything because only a few people in the choir could actually carry a tune. The choir director was none too pleased when I opted for an early graduation and didn't attend the second semester to help out the choir.

I have hardly ever had a problem singing in front of others. I guess because of my ego I actually feel the most comfortable when there are a lot of people around me when I do it. When it's around 5 or less people I can get a little nervous, though.

I didn't actually -have- to sing for my classes... I could have just read it normally, but my creative writing teacher did say that you can't call what you wrote a song unless you sing it, so I sang it. He said most people change their minds and label it poetry to avoid singing it and that I was only the second person out of all his years of teaching that actually had the nerve to sing what I wrote. *ego stroke*

I sung in chorus from fourth grade til ninth grade and have several lil medals on my wall (from honor chorus and such) to prove it, lol.

I'm better at not being nervous now, than I was back then, but even now people have to really push me to do it. (Mostly cuz it strokes my ego if they REALLY push for it, lol) I have learned, though, that I suck at karaoke, probably because I don't know enough songs all the way through to do it well...or maybe it was just because I sucked that one time I did it. (And I knew the song too, dammit! But the karaoke machine had a weird version of it. IT'S THE BEATLES, HOW DARE IT?)

Surprisingly, not many of my close friends now know I can sing. It's odd, really. Probably because I don't do it often, nor am I much into music. And I haven't really sung in so long I have lost a lot of what I had. If ya don't use it, ya lose it.

That's definitely true. I'm probably not as good now as I once was because I don't sing as often. My range is likely not quite as broad at the very least, since in choir we were sort of forced to sing outside our comfort zone in order to expand our capabilities. Without that, I just sort of stay in my comfortable range without going higher or lower most of the time.

In the event I could afford to go to college, I would probably try to join the college choir to get back into the swing of things. As for karaoke, not sure how I would do with that since I've never really tried it. My brother's ex wife was really into it, but she liked to hog the karaoke machine and not give many others a chance at it. I have to admit that she was pretty good, though.

That was one thing I didn't do at college. I didn't want to at first, then I had friends in it and kinda wanted to, even if I did hear the director was a pig's butt. But, it never did work out in my schedule. I really miss singing classical type pieces. And I didn't realise that until one: I sat in on choir one day and two: in one of my education classes we helped out the sixth grade class at the laboratory school with their traditional medieval christmas production and helped them sing time piece songs.

I use to have a three octave range. I remember my chorus teacher from eight grade in middle school having myself and two other girls sing the boys' part for a song because the boys' voices hadn't changed yet. xd Fun times. lol

PostPosted: Tue Feb 09, 2010 1:13 am
I don't know exactly what my range was at its peak, but as a guess I would say I could have maybe done about 2 and a half octaves. When I had tried out for the honor choir in high school, the director said I could be singing in a different section than I was, but tenor is what I'm most comfortable with.

A female friend of mine told me that she had to sing tenor a few times for some songs because there weren't enough men in her choir. She usually sang alto.

3nodding My roomie in college did that. It was fun when we would randomly sing on-the-spot duets because we harmonized nicely with each other. She didn't learn I could carry a tune until at least our second year living with each other. xd
