Ok. So as some of you may have already heard, Stephenie's new book will be coming out JUNE 5, 2010!! It is called THE SHORT LIFE OF BREE TANNER, AN ECLIPSE NOVELLA!!

This is a summary I found out on the book! Enjoy!!

Stephenie Meyer will publish The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner, a 192-page novella centered on a newborn vampire introduced in the third Twilight novel, Eclipse, in June. The story chronicles the journey of villain Victoria’s newborn vampire army as they prepare to close in on Bella and the Cullens. It will be released at 12:01 a.m. on June 5 in hardcover ($13.99, with $1 from each sale going to the American Red Cross International Response Fund). From June 7 to July 5, fans will be able to read the book for free online at www.breetanner.com, which will also provide a link to the American Red Cross website where they can donate to support relief efforts in Haiti, Chile, and around the globe.

On her official site, Meyer says she never intended to publish Bree Tanner as a stand-alone book. It was just something she’d started working on while she was still editing Eclipse. “I was thinking a lot about the newborns, imagining their side of the story, and one thing led to another.” The novella came in handy during the filming of The Twilight Saga: Eclipse (in theaters June 30). Screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg, director David Slade, and actors Xavier Samuel (Riley), Bryce Dallas Howard (Victoria), and Jodelle Ferland (Bree) all read it before cameras rolled to better understand the characters.

its not the 5th book. its just a little book done off eclipse about bree tanner. IT IS NOT THE 5TH BOOK!!!!!! just lettin u know. the 5th book in the series isnt even gonna be published. ((maybe. shes debating on if she should)) and that one is called midnight sun. its just twilight in edwards point of veiw. u can look up the ROUGH DRAFT on her website.

Yeah..someone leaked it and she said something along the lines of 'Well, if I were to write it now, the Cullens would all die because the bad guys would win, yadda yadda..'

I don't see what the big deal is. All she has to do is copy/paste the last couple of books, and replace every mention of the world 'Edward' with 'I' and every mention of 'I' with 'Bella'.

Quick question, though, who the heck is Bree Tanner? Don't ever remember anyone by that name(then again, the plot could've been written with just Bella and Edward, so I guess the seconds don't matter..))

I agree with Gemini, even thought I'm not crazy about the series. I really enjoyed the books, and liked the movies, but the movies totally "butchered" the series, as Psycho said.
About the new book, 'The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner'. Bree Tanner was one of the newborn vampires that was in the army in the 3rd book of the Twilight Series, Eclipse. She didn't play any major role, but there was a small part in the book that she was in. It was somewhere around the fight scene. She did die, eventually, which I thought was sad. But it did contribute to the book.
I am excited for this novella, but I do think that she should also publish the fifth book. Just imagine... yes, that probably would mean another lame movie (and more crazed fans), but it would just be another great book to read.

I agree completely. The director completely ruined the series.

And I don't understand why she would write something like that. I'm not TOO much of a fan but out of the books Bree kinda seems like a character most fans would care less about.
