The Northspring Harpies

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show. As you enter the furthermost northwest ruins, you see barren trees, stripped of all their life, some hanging with nests. The air is bitter, stale, erie...

The cry of the queen of all harpies is heard. She knows you're here....and you are not welcome.

That is, unless you are a Northspring Harpy yourself. Abandon all hope, all emotion, and fill your soul with hate for others. Only then, may you enter this herd. Then you must love and respect your sisters, help and support your herd.

Otherwise, you will find nothing more than a swift death.

This thread is a not only for harpies, but claws and feathers are helpful. Any evil at heart sister may join though!. If you have a mare that is not as evil, but still supports The Hatetalons, this is okay too. The Hatetalons have taken over adjacent flocks, thus branching out to become, The Northsrping Harpies.

If your harpy is not the Hatetalon type, then please check out the other flock here: [x]. These two flocks will NOT get along. The Hatetalons hate all. Especially those not under the command of their queen. Different rulers, different flocks.

HATETALON CLASSES

The Northspring harpies are among the most dangerous of the matriarchies, and can quickly slaughter the unwary traveler lost in the wilds. These vile, unscrupulous feathered soquili live only to cause mischief and sorrow. Hailing from the windy trees, the harpies are masterful at ambushing any trespassers.

Here are the roles which any harpy may find when part of this flock.

Females

Northspring Harpy - The more elite harpies tend to be masters of different elements and are much more dangerous. They tend to toy with their victims, much like a game of cat and mouse.

Northspring Roguefeather - Roguefeathers are masters of stealth. They stay out of site to the enemy, striking blows before the enemy is aware of their presence. These harpies carry scavenged tools and weapons, and use them to attack with. Most are also very cunning, and can use persuasion with ease.

Northspring Slayer - They strike head on, talons bared. These harpies enrage and will attack with a berserker style, not stopping till the fight is over. The Slayer rank is responsible for hunting and bringing food to the flock.

Northspring Windcaller - The sirens of the flock. They stick to the tree tops and mountainous rocks, swiftly alerting the other harpies of any nearby unsuspecting company. Their very wail can pierce the ears of the enemy.

Northspring Hide-Flayer - Very skilled skinners, that collect various animal hides to be used for survival needs.

Northspring Skin-Stretcher - The leatherworkers of the herd. They are talented at getting collected skins to bend and stretch into various uses. Some are dual trained as Drum Makers, or Hide Flayers.

Northspring Drum Maker - What the name says. A very important role. They are skilled in the perfection of making drums with animal hides. Drums used for ritualistic and entertainment purposes. It is a delicate and fine art. Some take pride in painting theirs, or fashioning them with prized feathers.

Northspring Shaman - A colorful bunch. Shamans love their bones and the earth around them. They can be seen carrying staffs with bone heads at times, and feel very in tune with the elements around them. They use drums and chants to cast spells and wards over the lands. Shamans are also very skilled in making offerings to the elements around them. If they need rain, the shamans will do a rain ritual, complete with chants, drums, and dance. This is just one example of their talents.

Nothspring Witchdoctor - Normally followed closely by the Shamans of the group. Both work with each other. Witchdoctors use herbs and exotics to keep the herd guarded and healthy. Some practice voodoo in addition to the craft. ((Keep in mind, only modern day potions may be used. Soquili have no physical power. So no Flame Balls of Doom! Hexes, herbal remedies, poisons, etc.))

Nothspring Walkerwards - These warriors are specially trained in handling and capturing the most dangerous individuals alive and watching over the Bloodslash Arena and any Skinwalkers or dangerous enemy females within, as well as joining raiding parties used to strike and gather supplies from enemy territories such as the Flock, which includes goods such as stallions for breeding and even Flock mares for pitting in the arena. They wear heavily spiked armor and protective masks when working.

Northspring Seer: A group who practice simple folk magics and try to predict the future through various means such as reading bones, entrails, etc

Males

Gladiators - Gladiators are the only relatively permanent males of the northspring harpies, but even then they can be fleeting: while they are not killed for not maintaining a particular ratio of females, these males, either born and raised into it from mares who offered them up in hopes of them being selected or captured from outside stallions with flashy looks and impressive traits for combat, live in the Bloodslash arena's "Zoo" and tend to eventually have their lives cut short in the arena by either a skilled prisoner they got pitted against or another gladiator. Many fights among gladiators are not to the death but, depending on audience feelings, a loser may be executed as part of the spectacle.

Males - Except for Gladiators, there are no Northspring males: captured males fills the role for a time, after which the Harpy will dispense of them, maybe in attempts to have food for their nest! Your male will have long thought out his escape plan, surely. Any male that produces female offspring of at least a 50% ratio, may be of use to breed again in the herd and be used over and over again until their baskets lean a little heavier on the male side, at which point they are sent to "The Pit" to be disposed of. Exceptions to this rule are males actively captured and kept in the arena: Either truly "prized" males captured to be fighters and breeders (such as Purewalkers, hand winged stallions, or) Or hostages being held to negotiate for the Northspring Flock's gain. Male offspring are forced to be outcast from the herd except if the child is selected to be raised as a Gladiator.

(To be a part of the Northspring Hatetalons, simply post your class in thread, in indian red. Feel free to add a small personal note about your harpy.)

NORTHSPRING BESTIARY

Northspring Harpy:
User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.
Edana is pure evil; her heart is one of crystal. She is void of any emotion aside from the hate she feels towards all others. She is queen of the Hatetalons. She is the one that led the harpy to the place where they reside. Her throne of power, is one led with a strong talon. Those who challenge her role, beware..

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.
Thessaly is a devious, gypsy-like harpy. She loves to perch at high points, observing the world and scouting out her next victim. While she's an adept hunter and fighter, she loves to "play" with unsuspecting stallions... often luring them in with a dance or a game only to attack when they least suspect. Even if she doesn't aim to kill her prey, sometimes she makes away with a new shiny trinket for herself. So even when she lets victims go with their life, she usually will keep some token.

Northspring Windcaller:

Her basic bio/history:
Personality: Unlike her sister, Banshee deals with their abandonment poorly, feeling resentful to her absent mother and restless in her herd. She loves her herd sisters, and adhered to their tenants of strength, looking out for each other, and dominance over males, but carries a chip on her shoulder that leads her to be sometimes snappy or violent.
History:
Their mother was a stunning, radiant hippogriff mare - her body glimmered and shone in an opalescent, rainbow hue, with cascading feathery mane and tail. Their father was a creepy, ichory Kalona of corruption who sought out and took the radiant spectacle that was their mother. When she realized she was pregnant, their mother abandoned the baskets, ashamed of what had happened to her and not wanting to deal with the progeny of such a monster. They were found by the Hatetalon harpies and raised among the herd as one of their own.

Northspring Roguefeather:

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.
Badb Catha is a Hatetalon, she is a Hippogryph who has chosen to call the Northspring herd/flock her home. Like other Hatetalon's she is not a friendly creature, far from it, she is not as aggressive as other members of the flock, instead she steers more towards the sinister than psychopathic killer. She is an omnivore and whilst she'll happy enough graze on grasses and pick away on berries and other such things, she's far happier eating some meaty morsel. Badb is sly and cunning, she's more than likely to sit in a tree some distance from the creature which holds her interest and watch them for some time and learn what, if anything, she can gain from meeting them. She's not likely to be angered easily and will not simply attack other non flock members on sight.

Badb has a strong respect for physical strength within others. She herself is not a large creature but she admires others for their prowess from afar. However, if her favoured losses a battle or fight, she is fickle, she'll not support them in their needs further, quite the opposite, she'll harry them and attempt to bring them down, buy finding someone stronger and better to kill them off, and will more than likely feed on the aftermath of the battle. She is never far from a battle sight, she enjoys the noise, the blood and the carnage, though she'll never enter in it herself, more than likely you'll catch her glowing red eyes watching you from afar as you stare death in the face. Seeing Badb is never usually a good thing, it means death is usually just around the corner.

Northspring Hide-Flayer:
User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.

Macha is Badb's sister. (OCC: there is a third sister, Anand) Macha, unlike her sister is less cautious in nature, quite the opposite in fact, Macha loves to get her talons stuck deep down into some poor creatures flesh, tearing the life from them. Blood thirsty she may be, she doesn't torture prey, she finds that practice distasteful and also a waste, for she is a Hide-Flayer and such torture practices would ruin the pelts and skins she harvests. Macha knows her own strength and also the limits of it, so whilst she may challenge herself with the targets she selects, she also is keenly aware that some targets and goals are just a little beyond her reach. Badb is a mare of few choice words, to allure her prey into a deadly embrace, whereas Macha taunts and goads her targets, she is quick to angry and is very abrasive, lacking her sisters 'charms'. Much like her sister she calls the Northspring flock her home and is proud to the name of Hatetalon, she is truly bonded to her sisters (the flock) cause(s) and will do anything to support Edana in her battles.

Northspring Drum Maker:
User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.
Personality: Siren is delicate and even-tempered, compared to the typical Hatelaton. She's quiet, friendly (to her sisters), and loves art and beauty. She's a bit naive and not-too-wise. And while she's not as bloodthirsty or violent as her sisters, she doesn't have any desire to leave or change things. She's perfectly content with the status-quo, she just prefers to leave the more violent aspects to others, and focus on her less glorious contributions to the flock.

She takes her profession as a Drum-Maker very seriously, especially the painting and decorating of her precious artworks. As her name implies, she's most enthralled, however, with music. She loves to listen, and loves to sing even more. Her fetching looks, long feathers, delicate frame, and diamond voice make her an ideal trap for males.

Nothspring Walkerward:
User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.
With Her Walkerward Armor

Personality: Stern and quick to prove her dominance to any upstart mare that may contest her authority with a quick backhanded strike of her claws, Bloodclaw is a mare with a driven duty and relishes in the suffering of their enemies and the pride of Northspring Might. Her loyalties lie only in three places: Their Queen, her job, and the Bloodslash arena, which she lovingly refers to as 'The Pit". And while she prefers her prey to be in one piece for a better spectacle should you be headed for The Pit, just because she tends to take you in live doesn't mean you arrive unharmed....

History: Born to the Dustwallow Queen Adhil, who had a tryst with a pureblooded Fire Ulun'suti, Bloodclaw was always combative, driven for the challenge, her blood burning hot and a need for control driving her to a job she could truly enjoy from a young age. However her people were hungry, and mistreated by her mother, and when Adhil refused to bow to Edana's demands to surrender or let their overpowered flock be destroyed, Bloodclaw violently stood up to her mother and swore full allegance to their invaders, not only for the sake of her people, but also due to her being awed by the grand and fierce armor worn by the walkerwards and Edana. Her greatest pride was to be accepted into their rank, savoring each raid, each day at the arena, and each life she takes to the cheers and screeches of her spectating 'sisters'. She quickly fought her way up in the ranks, her loyalty fierce. She denounced her Dustwallow name and took the title of Northspring, the name of the unified flocks formed by the Flocks bitter enemy.

HATETALON PLOTS

There is talk of a gorilla warfare against The Flock. They will use sneak tactics to assault small unsuspecting groups, and would not be below using foals as bait. More to come.

A female Skinwalker will be captured at some point and put in a karst type of cage. They will be held captive and fed males, promised a release only when successful female offspring have been born to the herd. More to come.

HATETALON ATTACKS

Here I will set up a guideline of dice rolls that you may use to calculate your attacks against other soquili. Your victim can choose to roll, in attempts to escape too. Purely optional, and just for sport.

Note from staff: A lot of these are impossible to do so this is more for OOC Games and contests than actual RP combat.

Roll one 20 sided dice:

1 Beak Click: The Hatetalon looks at you with sharp eyes, clicking her beak. She's either bored with you, or has already foreseen your untimely fail in the battle at hand.

2-4 Piercing Wail: A piercing scream tears through the sky, causing most victims to cower and cringe in fear.

5-8 Claw Fury: Several melee swings that cut into it's victim.

9-13 Death Grip: The attacker grips it's opponent tight with beak, mouth, or claws.

14-17: Elemental Decent: Using a high vantage point, a Hatetalon may glide through the air and cut into her opponent.

18-19 Enrage: Any attacks that follow after an enrage, are amplified and cause more damage.

20 Final Blow: The fight is over. Your attacker incapacitates you with a flurry of incompatible attacks.

HATETALON ITEMS

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show. Horn of Hatetalon: Every member will be issued a horn, used to call their fellow harpies at anytime.

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show. Blood Feather: Found from victory battles, used to make a harpy nest.

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show. Ancient Egg: These are multipurpose ritualistic eggs. They are believed to help a mare produce female offspring when consumed. Any baskets will have these eggs placed on the inside also, as a protective charm, or as food to assure they grow up to be strong. ((The origin of the eggs is a herd secret, and can only be found by a harpy who is trusted to gather them.))

Post in thread with ideas for items.

Edana greets Thessaly with a wicked grin of acceptance in her eye.

Kamiki, Ic'ly, do you have anything you'd like to add or suggest? You can pm me or post it here. This thread is as much mine as yours, with the Hatetalon name.

I have nothing plotted out for her, but I do know I'm not use to Rping evil characters... So I'm hoping to plot through here ^^

Also, we should get some banners or something to advertise? Assuming Tzi will be allowed to join XD

Certainly. I'm horrid at making banners though.

Do you want a brief description added to her name?

Also, for plots, I'd like to patiently see who else decides to join.

Oocly, this flock is huge, regardless of who joins. =)

I'll see what I can do~ But I kind of fail with banners too.

And well right now, I don;t have to much info on her. Mostly that she's tends to keep to herself.

And works for me~
