So I can't remember if I mentioned to you guys but about 3 weeks ago I applied for a supervisor position in the shop where I work. I got an interview and I thought it went ok. I REALLY wanted the job and I still think I'd be very good at it. But I got told tonight that I didn't get it. The feedback my boss gave me was that my standard of work is really good, but I got a bit flustered in my interview and overdid it abit, so it worked against me and he had to base his decision on that.

There are 3 more people in the running, one of them is my good friend Melissa, one is Melissa's friend Laura who I don't mind and the last person is Aaron. Aaron gets drunk and pervs to me on all the girls that work with us. He hit on my friend Melissa and came between her and her boyfriend. He has a tendency to act like a dickhead. I know it sounds really horrible but I hope he doesn't get it. I wouldn't mind losing out to my friend Melissa because she's SO nice to customers, SO well organised and could do the job brilliantly. But I really don't want to lose out to Aaron. In any case, I'm still abit morose that I didn't get it, I really thought I was in with a chance sad

The part that made me growl was that he's basing it on your performance in the interview rather than what you do ON THE FREAKING JOB. D:< That pisses me off. Which is more important, really? Really?

Aw. Was there a reason your interview mattered so much? Like you have to talk to a lot of random people or something? I think you would be more comfortable in the actual job and not in front of someone feeling like they are judging everything you say or do.

What encouraged me the most was that my manager said he had no doubt that I could do the job and he thought I'd be good at it. But since it was such a tough decision, he had to base it on the interview in order to make his choice because there was apparently a very small margin between each of us.

I'm just depressed because it's going to be at least a year before this job comes up again and I may not still work for Easons then. On the plus side, my other manager Lynda, who's in charge of books, is going to train me to be in charge of books when she's away. So I'm not going to be supervisor, but I get to learn a new job which is still good, I like learning new things.
