He's just soooo much more studious than me and picks up things so much better.
It kind of aggrivates me at times ):
And his best friends are like him too. Fakin geeks.
We can hold conversations but at times i get the feeling he avoids topics for my sake.

What are you supposed to do when this kind of "gap" exists?

lol, I have the same problem. Crushing on the genious in the class--it doesn't matter how high I score, he's the smart one of the AP class!
I'd say when you feel like you're straying into topics above your head, to bring up some of the things you're good at. Everyone has their strong points, and if it's bugging you, then you can tell him about yours and he'll hopefully find this interesting! Find a more common ground that you guys reach through your suggestions! You don't always have to outsmart a guy, and you'll probably find that there's no gap, your strengths just both lie in different areas!

I know how you feel. My boyfriend(?) is a huge video game nerd, and I know like nothing about games. When he came over, him and my brother just sat there talking about the wii, and ignoring me. He did apologize though. It was pretty sweet. heart

I have a higher IQ than my fiancé and always have gotten better grades and am better at reading. I think he is so smart and knows so much. He loves that I'm smart, but sometimes he thinks he's an idiot. I have often thought about not mentioning something he doesn't understand, but I don't. I talk about it and if he doesn't know what it is I tell him. Usually he is fine with that, and loves when I correct his grammar and spelling. Even though I'm the conventionally smarter between us two, he knows all these things I don't. He can use a gun, drive a car, knows weird facts about the human body, animals, the military, mechanics, science, weather, states, countries. We're both smart in our own ways. So now, if one of us seems to be avoiding something, we usually mention it so it's out in the open. When you really love someone, you may not want to hurt his/her feelings by making them feel stupider. Usually, I want him to talk about something I don't know, because I like to learn and find out more stuff. If YOU feel like he's doing that, mention it to him. Or, try to figure out if maybe you are just insecure or imagining it. Honestly, just telling him how you feel will make this better. And remembering that you are great for lots of reasons and he loves you for those reasons, may make you feel less stupid. Perhaps try to study up on some of the things he likes to talk about if you're confused. I really hope I'm saying something helpful. I sometimes get so jumbled when I type. O_O
