I absolutely love this.
I think as time went on, more and more of these
started to apply to me.

#12 really shouldn't apply to good writers, is the thing.
If you can't take criticism about your story or characters, you need to step back for a while ^^;;

Well, that would just be cheating. Then I could say something like "you know you're a writer when you drink copious amounts of Mountain Dew" just because it's a trait of mine.

No, no. We must keep this list pure of nonwriter taint.

And to cover, just in case: I'm totally kidding and should in no way be taken seriously at all

Indeed.
I saw a thread in the Writer's Forum full of 'You know you write too much when...' lines.
And a good number of them had to do with getting upset at someone not liking a character. No bueno.

You know you're a writer when you consider carpal tunnel not a serious medical issue, or an occupational hazard, but simply a sign that it's time to get a better keyboard.

You know you're a writer when you don't let anyone borrow your loose leaf paper in school.
What if you have a brilliant idea and you need to write it down, but you don't have any more paper?
But, alas, you gave that one sheet of paper to a classmate.

You know you're a writer when you only carry pens because pencils don't write on skin, and that's all you've got left cause your binders are full of maps, outlines, ideas, and straight-up chapters of writing.

And when someone has to call your name multiple times because you've zoned and are thinking intensely about your plot (and are secretly super pissed that they interrupted your intense thinking session).

When you keep paper and a pen on the bathroom counter because you for sure get all your best ideas in the freaking shower.

When you mentally b-slap your characters every night so you can sleep without them telling you all the latest greatest ideas.

When everyone around you knows to stay the hell out of your way from October 15th to December 5th cause they know you'll be obsessed with outlines and character development and writing like a madman.

I think a lot of these applied to me more when I was still in middle/high school. I haven't had time like that to devote to writing in years gonk

1, 2, 6, 9, 11, 12 (but not as much anymore, I'm proud to say. Actually, almost never anymore. But I acknowledge that I have had this issue.), 13, 14, 19, and 20.

That's still only 50%. I fail.
