-----Ⱦhe giant turned his head, looking towards the mountain peak that bore the Raikage's tower. So Kaileer had become a Chunin. Well, it made sense. While the male had not been, perhaps, as forwardly active as he had been, the experiences that he had faced were something no simple Genin should ever face. It reminded him of the wars he had been in, the fighting and the bloodshed. Kaileer had never faced those perils until this day, he'd wager, and likely had never hoped to see it in his lifetime. His final words made it certain: Kaileer saw this as a defeat. He had done the same when his first mission had gone awry, feeling that the failure was his own, despite the circumstances coming out with him alive. Yet to feel useless, in this? No. And he would say so. Opening his mouth, Wanryoku grunted to get the genin's attention. "You...are not useless. You bring word of dead, and save me. You survive, and bravely, and without you and Samuru and Ivi I would not have stopped the attack so well! Useless? No, not at all."

I fight with strength of arm and arms. You, too, but use head as well. Sometimes, victory not in winning, but surviving, and you survived, Kaileer. You. So, you win." And with that he turned to leave, though he did hesitate for any last parting words from Kaileer.

-----ι watched Wanryoku leave without a word, even when he paused to see if I had anything to say. I supposed surviving was enough--after all, I'd told him at the beginning of this to survive for the village, not die for it--but that didn't make me feel like I'd done anything useful. He did provide me with the knowledge that self-pity wasn't going to get me anywhere. Still, I had to become stronger, much stronger, if I was going to have any hope of protecting the village. -----His words also led me to the conclusion that I needed to get new blades. Real swords that were perfectly balanced to my style. While the katanas I'd grabbed from the Anbu Headquarters were fine blades, they didn't feel right in my hands. Besides that, a three foot weapon never made a very good off-hand weapon. -----I needed to wash, get a change of clothes, and eat, but it would wait for now. They would be the reward for training. I wanted to get at least a little bit in while adrenaline was still high and the laziness of recovery time had yet to set in. Sighing, I headed for the dojo. Or what was left of it anyway.

Walking up to the front entrance, there were two ANBU guards in front of the building. Throwing up some hand signs, she transformed into an almost perfect clone of Midgahs, then pointed to herself. As she couldn't speak, this was the best she could do at the time. Relinquishing the transformation, Hatsu looked up at the guards, waiting for a response.

Should she look, the mismatched gaze of the one-time enemy, Midgahs, would meet her own. A small smile graced his face as the ANBU stood further at attention, and he waved them off with a hand. "Back off, boys. Your Raikage wanted me here to help protect her. Nothing you're going to do is going to stop that." The instant they lowered their bodies into a semi crouch, his lips turned into a frown. Apparently, rudeness was common among the rabble of the villages. Looking instead to Hatsu, he lifted one hand to indicate the ANBU before speaking with an ironic tone. "Can you tell them?"
Before she could get a response from one of the guards, she heard someone appear behind her. Turning her head to see who it was, she would find her question answered already. Looking forwards once more, the ANBU had taken a more defensive posture. At Midgah's request, Hatsu gave a small sigh. Kneeling down on the ground she would take in hand a kunai, and etch into the ground the word 'TRUTH'. Making sure the tool was clean she would put it away and get up, dusting herself off. She would then point at Midgahs, hoping that the ANBU guards would understand.

Midgahs chuckled and looked down to the side, looking at the silent woman with a gentle smile. "Mutism. I hadn't expected it. But I'm curious what you think talking to Melody will do. Heal you? Bestow the answers of the mutliverse?" Snorting at that thought, but more as a laugh to himself,he moved forward and led the way within the complex. His gaze scanned the walls as he did, knowing well that ANBU watched every movement he made and not really caring. As they entered another ANBU, the mask of a wolf on his face with red eyes and black teeth, appeared to escort them towards Melody's sell. Which, of course, was underneathe a concrete slab at the absolute bottom of the complex. It took them nearly twenty minutes to reach it, but by the time they did and the slab was pulled back, revealing a sling that would take them both downwards into the darkness below. Midgahs shrugged as the shadows, but his eyes moved to Hatsu beside him. "You ready for this?"
The ANBU did not seem convinced that Midgahs wasn't a threat, but then again why would they? Midahs remark did not seem to help, as Hatsu turned her head in disgust. Nonetheless, Hatsu followed the blonde man into the complex. Another ANBU arrived once the two of them were inside, bringing them through the building until they reached a giant rock slab. Once the rock was pulled away, a large drop with a sling of some sort had been revealed. Midgahs asked if Hatsu was ready. In response, she looked to the side, as if to ignore the question, and climbed onto the sling.

→→They immediately began to lower the sling, Hatsu sliding into the darkness below. As they did so lights flickered on in the chamber she now found herself in, displaying a monstrously large room with what looked like concrete on all sides. Sitting in the direct center, underneath a spotlight, was the twisted form of Melody, her face and body wrapped in medical tape from her wounds. Only one eye could be seen under her pink hair, and it looked at the ground, despondent. When the sling stopped Hatsu would be at a comfortable height to stand, and nearly two hundred from the woman he had come to see. A moment later a light thud came from beside the young girl as Midgahs landed, hands in pockets as if this mattered not to him. Immediately he yawned and sat down, laying his back against the cold stone behind him, waiting for Hatsu's move. As for Melody? She didn't react, didn't speak, as if she didn't even know Hatsu was there.
The Shinsetsu stepped off the sling once it had reached the bottom of the pit. A small circular light would show a broken Melody in the center of the room. Midgahs sat down against the wall of the cell, and Hatsu, in the light at the center. Across from melody, she sat in the formal sitting position, looking down at the ground between them. Silence echoed through the dark room as she sat, across from the one that had caused her so much pain before. It seemed like an eternity of madness, being there with nobody to keep her company except her own insanity. Hatsu thought over what she had done, one more time. This time, being face to face with one who shared her thoughts, her feelings, her shattered spirit, it somehow made it that much easier to judge herself. Reaching into bag she would pull out a kunai. As she ran it across the floor marks would appear. The marks were faint, but still there. As time passed, she would scrape more and more, making the message a bit clearer every pass she went through. Halfway through the final pass, she would fumble it, and it would drop to the floor. She sat there, now the only sound in the room being that of water, dripping. Dripping. Dripping. Dripping next to a single word, etched into the cold rocky floor.......'REGRET'

→→It took a few moments of the pattering of tears before Melody spoke, unmoving despite the lack of true restraints on her body. But then, who needed it when your hands were broken to bits? These she held clasped in her lap, twisted hunks of flesh where her hands had once been. It was these she stared at as she talked, her expression vague and far off amidst the filth and dirt that had been left on her. "Regret? You won, little girl. You took him from me, you and the others'. You took a friend. None of you were killed, despite pain and torment. So why do you have regrets?" The words bore a sort of sing-song rhythm to them as she spoke, the only sort of 'movement' within the room thus far.
Victory? Was that all there was to be gained from that battle? Was the battle even necessary? These were the seeds of doubt, blooming now into a much more potent sorrow. ". . . . . . I-I" Hatsu tried to talk, only managing to get a single word out. yet right like that she couldn't talk again. It was as if someone had ripped her throat out, leaving her silent above. Standing up, Hatsu would stumble over to Melody, only to sit back down again. This time she sat side-by-side with her. Victory was not had by the end of that battle, only loss. After all, just as Jason did a part of Hatsu died that battle as well.

They aimed to break her, and it would not succeed, for she was already broken in worse ways than they could inflict. She didn't even say anything to Hatsu when the little girl sat beside her. No, instead she remained still, unmoving, save the rasp of her breath. Finally, she sighed and shifted her mangled hands. "Just...write it down."
Hatsu sat there, pondering for a moment, to try to pick the right words to spe- er, write down. After some time in silence, she would pick up the kunai again. After scribbling down lightly another message on the floor, she would place her hands on her lap, catching any stray tears that had not fallen yet.
