the "mosque at ground zero"

i don't know if someone has posted a topic about this yet, [i didn't see it on the first page] but what are your guys opinions on this topic?
but before you say anything, let me just get the facts out there:
1. it is an Islamic Community Center [which will be open to other people too]
2. it's 2 blocks away and around the corner from Ground Zero.
3. when first proposed, it was unanimously approved.
justsayin.
what are your opinions? in my current events class, we discuss it a lot, and many people have different opinions about it. so how do you feel?

I think it's a little ridiculous that this has become such a big deal, and I don't understand why it has people all riled up.

So technically it's not at ground zero.
I really don't care what they do, they have a right to build a place of worship just like any other American.

I find this funny, you wouldn't hear all of this " OMG LYK THEY B BULDIN A MOSQUE BY GRUND 0 OMG" If it were a church for Christians.

I think it's stupid to judge a whole religion just because a few people of the same religion did a bad thing.

For some reason I thought this topic was about the movie Four Lions.

Not being American (no disrespect intended) I don't have a strong opinion either way. Freedom of religion. I'm assuming a very small portion of the Muslim community agree with the extremist views the media portrays as their religious beliefs.
If it was built at Ground Zero, I could see how some people would view that as disrespectful.

I don't see any problem of them building a structure to worship what they want to believe in.
Isn't America dubbed as Land of the Free?
