what bothers me the most

Is that you can't be in the military and fight for your country and be openly gay. Being gay has nothing to do with your ability to be patriotic or carry out orders.

I understand that there are homophobes in the military but oh well. I also fear for those who may be openly gay and they'll be ridiculed by said homophobes.

Thats like saying a woman doesn't make a good soldier simply because she has a v****a. It's irrelevant!

Actually, they juuust changed the law and can now accept openly gay people into the military.
However, homophobia within the military is a different issue. sad

I think the argument about women in the army is more about the fact that women are "live givers"

Well women can be in the military, however, most don't see any combat and a few years ago (I don't know about currently) there are some special forces units that do not allow women in them at all.
While I have no problem with other's sexualities, I can understand the concern in the military. This isn't a perfect world and there are a lot of homophobes out there and I would be worried about the openly gay people in the military. Accidents happen and when you have to depend on each other in some of the toughest situations a man can face you want to make sure everyone has your back and that they will not abandon you because of your sexuality.

If it happens in nature, I just can't say that it's wrong. And I can't see how other people can. Being gay has nothing to do with the ability to fight for the country you love. Damn homophobes. They are just jealous I think, that they were not brave enough to come out of the closet.
