...you found $500 on the ground?
I'd try to do the right thing and turn it in to the police, even though I'd want to keep it. ><

I would assume that my genie missed my pocket again.
Actually, I would likely hold on to it and give my number to the cashier at the gas station where I found the money at telling her to give it to anybody who might be asking about money that they thought that they may have lost at that gas station. If anybody ended up calling my number, then I would ask them to tell me exactly how much money it was before even thinking about giving them a place to meet up with me at and giving them the money. If nobody called me up within a week, then I would assume that the money wasn't really that important to them and keep it for myself.

I'm honest as Abe was. xp I'd try to find the owner by asking if someone in the area lost a large sum of money, and if anyone turns up, ask them what the amount was. If I can't find the real owner, I'd turn the money in to the po-po. xd

I'd probably look around and see if anyone in the immediate area might have dropped it....then keep it if I didn't find anybody.

If it was something small like 10$ and if no one noticed, I would take it; but if it's something like 500$, I would try to find the owner of the wallet. If it doesn't have their ID on it, I would turn it into the police to see if they can find the owner.

Something like this actually happened to me at a prom I went to a few years back, though it wasn't anywhere near $500 that was lost, more like $50 I think. I turned it in to one of the teachers (I didn't even go to that school, so none of them knew me) who was completely shocked that someone actually turned lost money in. Turns out, the money actually belonged to my friend. eek
