How do I hate someone I love?

I want to hate him (or at least feel nothing for him) because he's in love with one of my best friends. I've been studying body language (because I want to be like the guy from "lie to me" XD) and he's really into her :/ , I could never hate my best friend.

Try to find something wrong with him? (like I dunno, a pet peeve he does a lot)
Or like.....I dunno that if-you-really-love-him/her-you'll-let-them-go sort of thing
