So, my boyfriend wants to play WoW, but will basically only play if I agree to play as well.
So, hell, I'll give it a try.
However, I've heard from several sources that WoW is a really, really easy game.
Like, REALLY easy.
But, I've also heard, that it used to be rather difficult, curved more towards hardcore players.
A friend of Kyle's has been playing WoW for years and told us that Blizzard was going to gear WoW more towards the hardcore players once again as they didn't like what they had done to the game over the years.
Is there any truth in this?
I read an interview from the developers about Cataclysm and what I got from it was they are making the game ever easier.
So, is the game going to get significantly more difficult? Or will it stay as easy-mode as it is now?

It's really only super easy if a.) you're used to MMOs, and b.) if you've been playing the game for a while.
They've made a lot of changes to make the leveling process more tolerable, but if you're a new player, you're still going to be challenged.
What's going to be harder is the dungeons/raids at higher levels. For all of this past expansion, being able to round up a bunch of mobs and nuking them down was a viable strategy--one which Blizzard wants to move away from, so they're working on making them require more coordination, focus fire, and crowd control abilities.
In short, the ability to level and learn how to play your character will become easier (mostly quality of life upgrades), but many of the dungeons and raids at levels 80-85 are going to be much harder than they are currently.

I <3 MMOs.
I'm a grinder, as most of the MMOs I've played require you to be unless you want to just completely lose your mind.
I played this one MMO that was basically shiny graphics and grinding. Lol.
Also, basically as soon as I create an account, I'll have a guild and a bunch of buddies to play with. So, I don't think I have to have been playing for a long time to still have it be super easy as they'll be with me.
I must admit, however, that I think I'll like easy leveling and hard end-game.
It's been way too long since I've not had to grind out every little percent.

the game has gotten easier, and will continue to get easier.
cataclysm patch from tuesday made the required amount of xp to get to 80 even less.
you get mounts and s**t earlier than before, everything all around is easier.
the game is easy.
no matter how long you've played.
i mean, you could take the time and learn to play your class, or you could roll ret paladin and call it a day.

Aside from Crusader Strike, Judgement, Exorcism, Divine Storm, Consecrate, and Hammer of Wrath, they have to work in Templar's Verdict, Zealotry, Inquisition, and Holy Wrath now. You wanna talk easy, you want Arcane Mage. Use Arcane Blast until you're out of mana. Then pop a Mana Gem, Evocation, and do it again.
