Why is everyone faster than me? Oh right, the gourd. Now it all makes sense. At least I'm not noisy. I think. Akio had time to complain as they trudged through the foggy, smelly swamo. He should have been paying attention to his surroundings and whatnot. Last thing he needed was to slip and fall into the water, alerting their prey and turning this hunt into a merry little chase. That'd be fun. So Akio made his way by jumping from tree to tree, keeping hold by some nifty hand and claw spikes he had made with some of his iron. A soft thunk every time he jumped from tree to tree, following Isamaru closely and as quietly as he could. Or who he assumed was Isamaru, it was rather foggy. They looked similar enough, and he'd need to keep enough distance to see but not be seen, a little ambush if it was required. Otherwise, Isamaru would probably have to turn around and save his bacon from the chopping block. And the butcher. Damn ninjutsu specialist. Coulda taken a weapon, at least. Oh well, more glory for us. I think. I don't know. Akio mentally complained a little more, something he was entitled to in th current situation. Any man who didn't partake in at least a modicum of whining needed to have his head chekced. And throughly made fun of for being far too serious. Like their fearless teacher.
Although, considering he might come to their timely rescue, Akio would reserve those insults until the right time. That time being back at the village, where the chance of being murdered was slightly slimmer. Either way, Akio kept on his toes and followed his fire support as close as he could. He couldn't let the kid die alone.

Don't tell me to shush, Mr. Talks-A-Lot. Wouldn't be surprised if he came for me first though. Weakest link and all that, take out the other guy and the support falls short. I hate being a rippling mass of manly muscle. Akio kept on complaining as he sped up, right after the Isamaru guy. Watching out for traps, white rogue weapon masters. poison creatures, or some kind of nasty disease. All were horrible ways to go, and at the least he'd have to run into the white-robed sword-swinger. Akio wasn't really looking forward to that. And why are we following this guys tracks? If he were a rogue from our village, and dangerous, he'd know Hunter-nin would be after him. He'd want to cover his tracks, obviously, and set rather subtle traps. Or, he'd lead us into an ambush with some fake tracks. I'm assuming the latter, and we're all going to die. Sensei is going to lead us into an ambush without a good goddamn game plan. I'm not going out yet, not like this. Not in a swamp. Akio could be observant when he wanted to be, just not all the time. He could have been wrong in his whole analysis of the situation, and this guy could be some blundering idiot of a ninja. He didn't want to take that chance, though. Not with his teacher telling them to be careful for traps. Something was up.
"Hey, Isamaru," he whispered harshly, "Stick close. Something is wrong, get ready for some real trouble. And be quiet." He didn't want his support to get killed, that would make everything a lot harder. Well, that, and getting a new friend killed would really make him unhappy for a week. Akio followed a little more closely, far more cautious about the whole situation. Running right into an ambush would kill all the 'fun' in this field trip.

"Nice plan, fearless leader! You both suck!" He shouted after his sensei, who probably had a plan to survive this disaster without Akio, and Isamaru, whose plan to survive didn't include him. So he was left to fend for himself, against the metal weaponry that was dead set on ending his life in a messy fashion. Well, I have my own damn plans. Akio thought about what he was going to do for all of five seconds, because unlike his two new 'friends', he had a brain in that large head of his. That, and a useful bloodline for this kind of situation. With hands upraised, Akio stopped the mass of metal. Not all of it, only the projectiles that would harm him. He had to fend for himself, apparently, and fend he would. "You call this a trap? I call this a morning exercise!" He could be pretty smug right now, he could stop the trap that had his allies scrambling for cover. Unlike his allies, metal was his life blood, hi best damn friend.
And it treated him right. Like an ally should have. "Any other trap that'd you'd like to set off, guys? Maybe some explosives?"

"If it isn't one thing, it's another." Akio reamined calm despite the nasty situation he was in, one their fearless leader had left them in, two inexperienced genin facing off againt some missing-nin. Akio would have to request a new teacher after this, one that wouldn't run away at the first sign of danger. None of which mattered at the moment, since he was probably going to be crushed to death by a giant tree or be carved into a bloody mess by the white-wearing fairy. Akio would rather live through all of this and have kids one day, maybe grandkids and prosper in dry goods. Or something that didn't involve dying young. "No witty banter? No pre-mortem one-liner? Not even a friendly warning?" Akio asked, a little chuckle thrown in for some added effect of trying not to panic and get himself killed. Akio used all of the kunai and other mettalic objects to hold off the gigantic trees while e thought of something that wasn't predictable and ineffective. He could always substitute, but this guy would probably see that coming and have something to counter that. He had one idea, one that would probably work if everything he'd read on it was up to date and correct, otherwise he'd be boned. "Satetsu Kesshuu," He had to use the kunai he had stolen, along wit all of the other metal weapons, and used them to create a large, spiked dome to protect the squishy Akio. He used this time to spin it, turning all that lumber into firewood and hopefully putting the fear of God into the white-robed fairy.
Hopefully.
Once he was sure the ancient, rotten trees were mulched, he lifte the dome and sent it at their new enemy. He was probably sending this at a shadow clone, but at least he'd have done something before being carved into a bloody mess that would make his mother cry. A lot. Or he'd kill the guy dead and earn some praise. Either way, he did something.
