So here's a short story: I enrolled in an ukulele class at my school so I could fulfill my graduation requirement for a performing arts credit. After about a month I discovered I was super in love with playing, and my grandparents surprised me by getting me a fantastic Kohala brand ukulele of my own! <3
It's BEAUTIFUL. The wood is this really pretty brown that gradates and blends between a light golden brown to a more chocolate-y brown, and the edging is decorated with a small amount of broken pieces of mother of pearl which is kind of eye-catching.
(I was so surprised when they told me they just picked it up at Costco on sale! XD )
So ANYWAY, being that I really love my ukulele a lot I decided it deserves a proper name. I know a few other people who have named their instruments as well, and I just can't decide what to name mine!
List of ideas: - Hoku (Star) - Because of the shiny mother of pearl edging. :3 Plus playing it always makes me feel brighter and happier, like a star. XD - Kalena (Pure) - Because I love the pure, clear sound it makes. - Malia (Calm) - Because when I'm frustrated playing ukulele makes me feel very calm. It's very soothing for me. - Mele (Poem/song) - Because I play songs on it? XD This is probably the most literal name on the list.
If anyone else has good suggestions, I'm looking for something that's feminine, and maybe Hawaiian, but other stuff is good too.

Maybe look up the name meaning here, and choose one, or, you could just name it whatever one means the most to you. (:

Kalena sounds beautiful. I don't know about you, but I named my bassoon Wilbur.
