Star Trek. There is so much to draw from, so many characters, creatures, you could even do Soquili based on ships or planets.

Dungeons & Dragons - even if you don't play, like WoW, there are ton of wicked creature designs; and it's pretty generic fantasy so you wouldn't need a working knowledge of the system to participate or enjoy the events

Maybe around Halloween, a vampire/werewolf/ghoul event. Not specific ones. Just generic vampires, werewolves and ghouls. That way no cosplays are taken, but it's still got a supernatural thrill/feel
