So I snagged Dissidia Prologous and holy crap the combat feels so much more in control than the original. I always felt like my attacks were random in the first one, and that it wouldn't always do the move I had set up to that direction+button press, but it seems to be much better about it now.
Some of the battles are still retardedly unfair though. Starting with 3x more health and bravery than you and being able to chain attacks as much as they want with no regards to how the game system actually works.
Oh and the fact that everyone who looked like Amano artwork and nothing like their normal character now has an alt outfit that actually makes them look right. (this is literally the only reason I didn't pick up the original and only rented it)
PS Dissidia 012 has ******** Gilgamesh in it hell yes.

I...ahem...'obtained' Duodecim and I'm not seeing anything new with the controls, except the new Assist mechanic.
Oh, and Yuna kicks so much a**, it's almost unfair.

I am entirely pleased with this 012 save for one issue.
I'm still in the habit of EX Bursting in the middle of my opponent's attacks because that's how I commonly ended people with Onion Knight in the first game.
I'm still not sure how long I have to wait before EX Bursting and not end up with EX Revenge.
I'm digging it though, I honestly felt like I was too good at the first game and it got boring, the new mechanics add a lot for me.
Also Tifa may be replacing my Onion Knight.

Zelkiiro I...ahem...'obtained' Duodecim and I'm not seeing anything new with the controls, except the new Assist mechanic. Oh, and Yuna kicks so much a**, it's almost unfair. It's not so much that the controls are different, more that they're more accurate to what you did. Also this is still just judging from Prologous and some of what I hear from the retail version, but holy s**t it seems like Lightning is almost as bad as the game she's from.

Edge Zero but holy s**t it seems like Lightning is almost as bad as the game she's from. Usually bad characters improve as their level increases (e.g. The Emperor). Lightning stays bad forever. EDIT: Also holy s**t, they buffed Exdeath pretty good. Punching bags aren't supposed to hit back! D:

Yeah, I hear exdeath is playable now!
I'm sure Lightning will get slightly better once people figure her out.

Lightning is incredibly clunky and I hate how often you get stuck with her in story mode.
And yeah, Exdeath surprised the s**t out of me the first time I fought him. I went with the usual tatic of LOL I'M THE AIR YOU'RE MY b***h To which he kindly responded WHO'S THE b***h NOW?!

One of the reasons I didn't like the original Dissidia was due to how bad Exdeath sucked and how hard he was to level up, I ended up sending it back to gamefly before I really figured it out.
Also I didn't like how all the pre VII characters looked totally different from how they did in game, since they were based off the Amano artwork. Now just about everyone has a sprite look-alike skin. Warrior of Light looks awesome now, so does Bartz.
Seriously though ******** Bartz being a mime, he should have been sort of like Lightning, but with changing jobs. Onion Knight has that for EX mode, and it makes sense that he's primarily one class since it's the best class in that game normally. Bartz should be switching between a few of the more unique and under represented FF classes, maybe Mystic Knight, Geomancer, and Samurai. His EX mode could be a job mastered freelancer so he could use a mix of all those skills or something.
Galuf better be in the next Dissidia and play like that *shakes fist*
Unrelated to that rant, but apparently the entire story mode from the first Dissidia is playable in Dissidia 012. Awesome!
edit: Apparently in Dissidia012 his EX mode is exactly what I said it should be changed to ololol

Personally, if they do a 3rd installment, I'd like to see Selphie, Amarant, Steiner, Red XIII, Umaro, Edgar, Strago, and/or FF4 Cid.

I think I'd rather see some stuff from other FF games that don't have any representation yet. Ramza from Tactics, someone from Crystal Chronicles (it would probably be Layle from Crystal Bearers, but Mira from My Life as a Darklord would own bones), Ashley Riot and Sydney Losstarot from Vagrant Story, Luso and Marche from the Tactics A games, and dude from Mystic Quest. Maybe add some KH dudes too.
But if they don't want to expand the franchises and just add more dudes, here's my ideas
FF: Black Mage or Monk FFII: Who cares, no one liked it. Maybe that Minwu guy. FFIII: Xande is pretty much the only option since the main characters are all the same FFIV: Yang if no monks are added, otherwise Cid as they're the most unique. Already has 3 characters, though. FFV: Galuf ********: Edgar or Sabin would be the most unique, possibly Shadow. FFVII: RedXIII would be quite original, as would Barret or Vincent. Already has 3 characters, though. FFVIII: Irvine or Selphie would be the most original, already has 3 characters thoguh. FFIX: Amarant or Steiner, as you said. Vivi could work too. FFX: Auron would be nice. FFXI: Who cares FFXII: Balthier god dammit. FFXIII: Sazh since he's the main ******** character. They should add a third protagonist too since no one knows who the ******** villain is because you'd have to get like thirty hours into that piece of s**t and no one wants to. I'd rather play FFXI or FFXIV than play more of this spreadsheet simulator. Just add people from Versus XIII it'll probably be better. FFXIV: Someone weird enough to play it.

So now that my PSP is functional again I have learned that this game would benefit greatly from a practice mode, especially when attempting to learn the timing on Tifa's feints.
