"I love them, just like He has taught me too. I think of them as family, as if children I have watched mature and grow."
"So you would betray Him and choose humans over Angels, over good."
She shook her head, chin held up defiantly, "I am choosing what is right. There is still good in the world! Evil has not taken over all."
A voice drifted into the room, sending chills over her flesh, causing her wings to flutter nervously. "Then you prove it. I shall cast you down onto Earth to live as the humans do. Find a soul that is pure, and they shall be saved. Fail, and parish among them."
A shuttering began in her core, tearing her apart. Falling, twisting and turning towards the earth. Upon impact a loud crack rang out, her body slapping against the water and sending up waves that crashed towards the banks.
Some time later she swam to shore, drug herself onto the grass and, as she lay there panting, the angel began to sob. Fire raced through her veins, across her limbs. As they diminished she found herself utterly alone, utterly human. As dawn broke across the skyline she stood, pulling her simply sheet-dress tighter around her.
With her first step towards the bustling metropolis that buzzed and hummed just on the other side of the treeline, she inhaled deeply. "One pure soul." The angel repeated, determination emanated from her body.
Pain still wracked her as her body began to heal where her glorious wings once protruded. Drying blood stained her gown, spreading down from her shoulder blades towards the small of her back. It was all that was evidence of her wings being taken away, ripped from her body as she'd been cast from heaven.
