"Actually, I was working on homework in one of the classrooms down here," Ronna answered uncrossing one of her arms and holding up an ink-stained hand to further prove her point and she continued annoyed Valentina would make some absurd assumption that she didn't have anything better to do than hunt down students who couldn't show up to their own detentions, "Aritmancy-which is a study of predicting probabilities in many ways. If you want I can in mathematical terms explain the odds of me skipping escorting you to Professor Harlowe's office and just head straight to Pro-sorry, Headmaster Steele. I know Headmaster Steele better, anyways, and it isn't like I am here on Professor Harlowe's request."

Pausing Ronna raised a brow as Valentina muttered about her hair and then to Ronna claimed she wasn't avoiding Professor Harlowe's office but taking her time and 'going a different route'. She let out a short laugh and managed to avoid excessive cursing in her amazement at the girl's statement, "You're bloody kidding me, right? What the Hell do you think taking your time and going a different route is-it is called avoiding, even if you actually did plan to eventually show up there. Which you don't. You're an awful liar and there are so many red flags that you are lying even someone not good at picking out liars could tell you are lying. Like I said, don't bother lying."

"I seriously doubt you make a habit of studying down here so it is unlikely your book is here and if you are heading to a detention I don't see why you need a text book-unless Professor Harlowe is like my father was and doesn't tend to believe in punishment but instead believes in reformation and thus is letting you study in detention," Veronica added with a small shake of her head, crossing her arms again for the moment and deciding to ignore the comment about snogging their boyfriend. Technically snogging someone in public didn't violate any rules-not school rules-and it wasn't like her guardian was that fussy about what she did or didn't do with the said boyfriend. Of course, Valentina's wording of the whole thing about 'getting made' was inaccurate but it really wasn't worth pointing out the flaw in the linguistics of the whole thing. It was a petty comment and Ronna could care less, and the comment about moronic stunts and asking where Ronna had been hiding caught her attention more. Heaven forbid this girl actually got into any serious legal trouble, Ronna couldn't help but think, she'd be a lawyer's worse nightmare with her talent to incriminate herself.

Ronna sighed, unfolded her arms, and out of her bag pulled out a pair of handcuffs and dangled it on her index finger and said dryly-partly joking, but mostly serious, "So, since you obviously aren't the most honest sort-and you are already a bit late for that detention of yours-or so I assume, and if not you will be-I think you do need an escort. You can come with me without protest and I can explain to Professor Harlowe your delay or I can just happily cuff you, have you hand over your wand for the time being, and escort you to Professor Harlowe's office myself-though I can't guarantee I won't just decide to skip her office and head to Headmaster Steele's office instead."

She raised a brow at the redhaired girl and said with a polite smile as she continued to dangle the cuffs with one hand, "Up to you of course, Miss La Russa. I do believe in free choice, after all."

Valentina wanted to punch the older Gryffindor. "Really, I guess I can't trick you. I was avoiding going there." She confessed to Veronica. "Get those things away from me. I thought Cambridge muggle police where bad." She said remember just the end of year after she gt home she got arrested for theft. "I rather not go see the Headmaster Steele. I guess delaying it isn't getting me anyway. I might as well go with you. I don't want another Howler being sent to my parents." She said thinking there is other way to go. "I know when I have been defeated. Shall we go then?" Valentina said with out anymore arguments.

"Cambridge Muggle Police? Do I really want to know?" She asked twirling the handcuffs one last time before returning them to her bag, "I'm not particularly familiar with them. I grew up around the Kent Police Force-different county than Cambridgeshire where Cambridge is." Shaking her head she held a smile briefly before her expression darkened and she said, "And to be fair I did advise you not to lie to me. When you grew up around cops all the time as a kid you do pick up some tricks over the years."

She sighed and said, "I didn't know they sent Howlers to parents for their students misbehavior. Maybe it is different for non-muggle parents. Either way as far as I knew parents and/or guardians usually just get letters. Besides, what good is something that is only obnoxiously loud to a parent of a child who is constantly a pain in the arse. Besides, with your attitude and apparent disregard for rules and your disregard for some discretion in rule breaking which you seem to lack, I doubt you'd respect your parents enough to actually listen to whatever they might have to say on your behavior anyways."

"Also a word of advice. The Americans have this phrase related to their legal system 'plead the fifth'-which is apparently related to their constitution's fifth amendment or something-the point is the phrase means you decide to remain silent on an issue and decline to give self-incriminating information," Ronna continued as she motioned towards the direction to head towards Professor Harlowe's office, "basically, you are what law enforcement consider a dream and a lawyer who ever had the misfortune of defending you would consider a nightmare. You are constantly confessing to your misdeeds even without someone asking. It's moronic. Anyways, go ahead Miss La Russa, I'll explain how you apparently got lost on your detour and was having a lovely chat with me about all your misadventures."

"Please call me Valentina, I rather not be called Miss La Russa I get confused with my sister Alessandra." Valentina hated being called Miss La Russa. "Kent? my uncle on my mums side lives there." She said remember him getting arrest for public endangerment. "I am more familiar with Italian law I spend a lot of time in Pisa myself with my grandparents. I did a lot of stupid stuff a few years ago that I now regret." She said to the sixth year. "I rather not lie to the head of house. I might as well say to her that i was trying to avoid detention. my mother sends me howlers for not obeying. That will change soon." She said "My parents are moving back to Pisa to help with the family business and I am moving to London with my second oldest sister Alessandra till I finish Hogwarts and then I haven't decided what I am going to do after that." She said as she realised she's going to miss her mother and father when the move from Cambridge.

"Because I know your sister," Ronna remarked dryly. "I've never met her. And honestly, if she is able to be mixed up with you, I'd rather not. I use last names when I'm annoyed at someone. When people pull dumb moves or lie to me, let's just say I'm less than pleased. Furthermore, a lot of people live in Kent. I really don't give a damn if your uncle lives there or not."

Ronna sighed and continued, "As for my correlation to American law-I am not all that familiar with it either-but the whole legal history of the phrase isn't the point. It doesn't matter if you are in Italy or England or America or Timbuktu, sometimes it is smart to shut the bloody Hell up and not keep talking and incriminating yourself. Which, saying it was a detour you got lost on isn't a lie unless you flat out never intended to show up in detention which means you also lied extensively to a prefect. So, be sure to say that too when you are working on getting in trouble."

"And, obviously you don't really care that much about howlers if you keep getting them from your mother so don't suddenly try to pull the 'oh poor me' bullshit. I don't buy it and I really don't care," Ronna said. "I'll tell you more or less what I told Theo at the beginning of the year-before he pulled this stunt-and mind you I actually like Theo and we go way back unlike you and me: Shitty stuff happens to people all the time. You don't have some monopoly on a shitty hand in life. So stop acting like a self absorbed brat. Now, you can start marching up towards Professor Harlowe's office at any time now."

"I guess I might head to Professor Harlowe's office. Arguing just going to get me into more trouble." Valentina said as she knew she was not going to win. "Let's go before I get into more trouble than I am already in." She said the the hours till she can go to bed. "I know next next head to Harlowe's office before she sends someone to escort me to there." She chuckled.

Leon was so pissed. He couldn't even remember a time he had ever been this pissed off. Granted, he seemed to be perpetually pissed, but this time it was different. This time he didn't have a way to vent his frustrations. He'd run out of cigarettes in the pack he had when he first found Aimee in the common room, and now he was stalking his way back to the common room to get some more. From his dorm. Ugh. He was just so glad that he was away from Aimee for a moment so that he could try and think clearly. Which, to be honest, was becoming harder and harder to do. He was just trying to find a peaceful point to try and cool off. Which wasn't working so far, so he needed to grab his usual go-to for stress relief.

It was around the time he rounded the bend that he noticed two thing. One, that it looked like someone was in the corridor. Two, said person was currently the target of his anger. He didn't even notice it when his feet carried him to Derrick, only that one moment he was glaring, and the next he was grabbing Derrick by the shirt and shoved him up against the wall.
"Ya rathead son o' a bizzich. Wot the bloody Gypsy 're ya doin' daahhhn 'ere?"

Derrick had grunted when he was slammed against the wall, but the other teen simply narrowed his eyes at Leon. "I'm here waiting for my girlfriend. The same girlfriend that you're trying to keep away from me. What, jealous?"

                                                    Leon glared.
"Wot th' donald do I need ter be jealous o' ya for? O' an abusive fireman sam role? 'Eaven and 'ell?"

Derrick smirked and shoved Leon away, causing the blond to stumble a bit before righting himself. "Well, that's easy. She chose me, not you. You're just some hoodlum rat. You thought you had a chance?" Leon felt something that felt like ice water run down his back, and he stared for a second, trying to process this. His eyes narrowed again as the words finally sank in and realization hit. Wait, he... He liked Aimee? The girl that he couldn't get rid of to save his life? Something in his expression must have tipped Derrick off to something, because the other teen's smirk grew. "Oh, this is too perfect. You didn't even realize it? No wonder she chose me over you. You're too stupid to even notice. Besides, I enjoy every moment with her, and I'm going to enjoy it more when you and your lackeys are no longer a factor for her."

He leered for a moment, obviously enjoying some fantasy. Leon however saw red, literally red, and he blanked for a moment. When awareness finally returned, his fist was raised, and he was kneeling over Derrick. Kneeling, because Derrick was a bloody mess on the floor. Leon froze, and he couldn't even tell if the other teen was still even alive. Shaking hands dropped, and Leon quickly pressed two fingers to Derrick's jugular to see if he was even still alive. That was when he realized the state of his own knuckles, which were split and blood was covering his fists. Thankfully he could feel a pulse, and he heard some sort of wet wheezing coming from Derrick. Good. That was good, right? Leon then stood, swallowing thickly as he backed away. Then he turned and threw up. Too much, just too much blood, and he could barely recognize Derrick's face.

spaceColin hadn't expected much of anything to happen today; he was wandering the hallways, alone, as he tended to do after spending a prolonged amount of time either in the Great Hall or the Common Room. Too many people, too much noise. If he could've found one of his friends to walk around with, he would have... Or, that's what he told himself. He still wasn't particularly comfortable seeking them out, worried that he might annoy them. Brandon wasn't so bad, but he had a hard time reading Di sometimes, plus she had Mordred hanging around. Caty was impossible to predict, so he'd given up on trying, figuring that she'd seek him out if she wanted to. And Aimee... He scowled. No one got to see Aimee anymore, really. She was always with her boyfriend. Colin didn't like the guy. He watched a lot; when you were too shy and anxious to hang around people much, you tended to do that. Outside looking in sort of thing. And what he saw from Aimee and Derrick was that the Ravenclaw boy was a complete jerk, and he made her miserable, but she wouldn't break up with him for some unfathomable reason. Colin was staying out of it, though; he was pretty sure Aimee liked Derrick more than she liked him. It was one thing to not get to see her much, it was completely another to make her hate him by sticking his nose in where it didn't belong.

spaceOf course, that attitude was generally what resulted in him being all alone more often than not. He didn't like being alone, except when he needed solitude to recover. But lately he wasn't getting enough social interaction, and logically he knew that it was mostly his own fault. He knew he was being ridiculous. But his logical side and his anxiety weren't on speaking terms, and the anxiety was much more convincing most of the time. He sighed, hands stuffed in his pockets, and rounded the corner, staring down at the ground. He didn't even know where he was going, really. Just wandering to wander, enjoying the almost-silence of the hall-

spaceThe sound of retching from around the corner ahead drew his attention, and he frowned. Someone was sick? Maybe he should help them get to the hospital wing... He sped up his pace slightly, bracing himself for the sight of vomit, which was never pleasant. But, when the source of the retching came into view, it wasn't the vomit that caught his attention. Colin froze, feet away from Leon and the figure on the floor, all the color draining from his face. His mouth dropped open slightly, eyes wide, and he could feel his heart rate increase and his hands start to shake. "L- Leon. Wha- What happened?" he asked, half concerned and half terrified. He didn't know the why of it, obviously, but the what was pretty obvious. Leon had beat the living hell out of someone.

spaceSuddenly, all the jokes about the Slytherin boy snapping (which Colin had always, always kept to himself, in the interest of not being a total jackarse) weren't so funny. They never really had been, to be honest; Colin had thought them out of real concern, not that anyone cared if he had any concern for Leon. Leon certainly didn't, anyway. But he'd tried joking to himself about it to convince himself that it would never actually happen... But here he was, and that-

                                                          spaceThat was Derrick!

spaceAmber eyes had finally shifted to the figure, prone on the floor, face almost unrecognizable... almost. But the hair and the robes were enough to tie it together for Colin. It wasn't like it was any shock Leon would beat the mess out of that guy. Actually, if he'd been going to do this to anyone, it'd be Derrick. Colin took a small step back, swallowed, and then stiffened his spine. His hands slid from his pockets and clenched into fists. "L-Leon! We... We need to get him to the hospital wing." There wasn't a question to it, it was almost an order. Only almost, but about as close as Colin would ever really get. "You, you... You need to help me. And... and tell someone. What happened. If he- Did he start it?" The blonde wanted to believe that his classmate hadn't just beat the hell out of another person for no reason. And Derrick was a jerk. It was totally possible he'd instigated something... right? Hopefully? Though, given the conditions of the two, he doubted that would help Leon much. Keep him from getting expelled, maybe. He'd have detention forever and a day, though.

spaceSuddenly, though, a fearful thought crept in, that Leon wouldn't be willing to take the fall for what he'd done. That he'd rage against it, that... Colin swallowed, hand twitching as he actively forced himself not to reach for his wand. That'd just piss him off, right? If he wasn't already pissed enough... The Ravenclaw didn't know what to do. What if Leon attacked him because he had said to tell someone? He wasn't trying to get Leon in trouble, the Slytherin had done that himself. It wasn't like Derrick wouldn't tell them who'd done it (and probably be happy to do so). And... provoked or not, he'd beaten the boy unconscious. There wasn't any excuse that justified that, not unless Derrick had been trying to literally kill him or something. His jaw clenched, and he balled his hand back into a fist. "We need to go, now," he said again, with a confidence he absolutely did not feel in his voice. This was bad, this was bad, this was so, so, so bad.

Leon blinked when he heard someone's voice, and then glanced up. Blond hair, gold-brown eyes. Kind of short too, which made Leon wonder how the hell Wallis even got into Hogwarts. He was sure his baby brother wasn't a wizard, right? Yeah, he wasn't. Maybe. Then again, Leon was, so it was a possibility. Maybe they let him into the castle or something? His eyes glanced to the floor at the vomit, but refused to look over at what had caused him to... No, that didn't happen. "Wallis, bruv, ya ain' s'posed ta be 'ere. Mum an' dad would kick ya ou' fer i'. What'cha doin' 'ere, anyway?"

Wallis's words registered after a moment, and he blinked, wanting to just curl up and slide down the nearest wall. It'd been what he'd been wanting to do since his parents kicked him out, right? Just curl up and cry? Joi wouldn't fault him for it either. She'd told him she'd cursed them out enough for both Leon and herself. He shook his head, and then refocused. Wallis had asked what happened. Right. That's what he asked. "Derrick, 'e... He did somethin' ta Aimee las' nigh'. Lef' 'er covered in bruises an' all. She wos cryin' an' I took 'er ta th' 'ospital wing an'..."

Leon paused again, frowning. What happened again? Oh, right. "She wos terrified an' din' wan' me ta leave. Jer's mum, she took 'er an' dosed 'er wiff somethin' ta sleep, an' I jus', stayed wiff 'er I guess. I jus' came down ta grab meself a f** when I saw 'im. Derrick. I confronted 'im, an' he wos talkin' 'bout doin' other stuff ta Aimee, I fink. I... I don' 'member much, ta be 'onest."

There was something else, something important, and Leon was having a hard time grasping it. Then dawning horror sank in and Leon wanted to be sick again. Oh god, he'd killed Derrick, hadn't he? That was the thing he didn't want to look at. Distantly he thought he had checked on the other teen, but Leon couldn't be certain. It was just out of reach, but Wallis, he could tell Wallis, right? They were brothers, and Leon knew that Wallis knew him better than to assume he was a murderer. "Wallis, I fink I killed 'im. I din', righ'? I mean, I din' mean ta. I jus'...." This was all a surreal dream. That's what it was. He'd fallen asleep in the hospital wing and dreamt all of this. It was the only logical explanation for any of this.

Nike was spending some time knitting a tiny hat for her cat Micah, not that it was necessary but she was doing it merely out of boredom. She wasn't in the mood to sleep unless she was really drowsy to do so. But eh, she didn't feel like she was, though. While she was in the middle of her peaceful knitting, she could have sworn she had been hearing some faint noises outside the Common Room's door... She stared at the door wondering if her ears were playing with her or was she just being drowsy. Then she blinked when her stomach made a low growl, then realized that maybe she ate a few back in the Great Hall... Or had she been doing alot that it drained her energy? Oh well, she could just go and sneak in the kitchens while she was at it. Setting down her unfinished work on the table, she stood up and opened the door before she proceeded to be on her way until she found herself in the presence of two-- no, three people.

One was someone she even barely recognized with the blood but one thing she knew was that he was a Ravenclaw-- Wait a second, was that Derrick? She'd been glaring at that bloke occasionally in the Great Halls enough to know his hairstyle... But she could be wrong when he has blood all over his face. Another was a horrified Colin; The last one was... Leon?! She spoke with her voice trembling in shock, "Oh my Ghoul, Leon... What happened here?" She looked at the guy's bloody body with a horrified look, then at Leon who apparently had bloody fist. Oh God, did he just punched the living shite out of him? What would Jer say about this when he hears about this? There were those days when she wanted to just be annoyed at Leon and smack him upside the head for being a jerk, but now she didn't like she had any desire to do so anymore. She decided to speak to Colin in a low and cautious voice, "Colin, pray tell me about what's going on and we need to get them both to the Wing. Like, now." Then she felt that she lost her appetite to sneak in the kitchens now, with the vomit and the blood and all. She and Colin had to maybe save Leon's arse from getting expelled and having his wand snapped into half, no matter how he used to indirectly annoy her.

spaceColin jumped slightly when Leon looked up at him. He couldn't help it, he'd been waiting to get yelled at or something! But, instead, the Slytherin stared at him, an odd look on his face. When he spoke, the Ravenclaw had no idea who he thought he was talking to, but he clearly wasn't in his right mind. Of course, there was an unconscious boy on the floor that sort of implied the same, but you never knew. Colin had no clue who Wallis was, but apparently Leon was so out of it that he'd gotten them mixed up... The blonde glanced briefly (very briefly) at the mess on the floor, and then back at Leon, swallowing. Okay. He was... disassociating? Obviously his attention wasn't focused on what he'd just done. Leon might not be the sanest person but Colin didn't think he was a sociopath, he wasn't going to hurt someone like that and then act like nothing had happened.

spaceThe third year tried to think; okay, so Wallis was someone Leon knew, maybe family or an old friend from before Hogwarts or something... Probably family, Colin thought distantly. He had a hard time imagining that the boy had friends. He didn't want friends. He didn't even want Aimee and Caty around, they just forced themselves on him for some unknown reason. But, whoever Leon thought he was right now (bruv? He'd said bruv, right? So his brother, probably? He didn't know if Leon had siblings, didn't really know anything about the guy at all, even from Brandon), clearly he was willing to talk to that person. He was pretty sure that if the Slytherin had recognized him for who he was, he wouldn't be so... well, not happy to see him, he wasn't happy. But not-angry, sure. Go with that. Okay, so, clearly Colin just needed to pray that the confusion lasted long enough for him to get them both to the hospital wing. "Uh, not important," he said, in answer to the question about what he was doing there. Part of him wished he could fake an accent. What if the lack of one snapped Leon out of it? And then he snapped because Colin had tried to trick him? He wasn't really trying, Leon had done it himself, but he had a feeling the boy wouldn't think of it the same way.

spaceThe Ravenclaw's own temper, mild though it might be, snapped at mention of what Derrick had done to Aimee. He'd...! Colin had known the guy was controlling to an extent, and that he was mean, but he hadn't known he'd actually been hurting Aimee like that. The boy had always assumed there were things going on they didn't know or understand, that she'd had a reason why she wasn't upset or angry with her boyfriend for how he acted. He'd never thought it was because things were worse. Of course, he'd be the first to admit that was just because he'd been trying to be optimistic. To assume the best. He'd seen things, he'd known things. He just hadn't wanted to believe them. His clenched fists tightened further, knuckles going white, and he could feel his nails digging into the meat of his palm.

spaceColin tried to stay focused on what Leon was telling him. When the Slytherin said he didn't remember much, Colin swallowed. He'd probably blacked out. Leon obviously had issues with anger management, that'd been evident from the first time he'd met the guy. It wasn't that uncommon for people to get so furious they blacked completely out. Finding out that a guy had been abusing a girl who was your sort-of friend was enough to make anyone flip out, to say nothing of someone who was already predisposed to do something like that. That was an important detail, though... But, before he could really think much more on the subject, he felt himself go cold. Killed him? Leon thought he'd... Shite.

spaceColin hadn't even thought to check that. He'd assumed... Surely to God Leon hadn't beaten the guy to death? Right? Colin felt himself panicking for a moment, and firmly shut the reaction down. No, no, no. Leon was totally disassociating, Derrick was unconscious on the ground... Definitely unconscious. He had to be. He- Hell. Colin thought for a second, brain firing as quickly as it could, and then he was digging around in his bag. He pulled his glasses case from the front pocket, taking the glasses out and going to Derrick. He held the lenses in front of the older boy's nose and lips, waiting. When the exhalation fogged up the glass, his shoulders slumped in relief, eyes closing. "He- he's alive," he told Leon, though really he was telling himself. "But, we need to get him to the hospital wing. He can't just lay here like thi-"

spaceHe was cut off by Nike, asking Leon what happened. Colin stepped between the two, facing Nike, expression urgent, trying to warn her not to... well, not to do anything, he supposed. He was pretty sure he was only doing alright because Leon had him confused for someone else. He had no way of knowing if the delusion would persist enough that Nike wouldn't snap him out of it. When she turned the question onto him, along with the demand that they get the two to the hospital wing, he frowned. "I've been trying to do that," he said, though even he had to admit that he wasn't sure he'd have expected himself to be able to have an actually helpful response. Honestly they were lucky he hadn't disassociated right along with Leon. "I just got here, and Derrick was on the floor and Leon was... He's not in his head, he's freaking out. Derrick provoked him and he... well..." Colin didn't think there really needed to be any discussion of what Leon had done, it was pretty obvious. "But, I couldn't... I couldn't get them both unless I got Leon to move, I was trying to do that, but he's totally disassociating, he think I'm someone else and doesn't remember what happened. But, if you levitate Derrick I can worry about Leon. We need to get them both moved but Derrick's the priority and I think it'd be easiest if I tried to convince Leon to come."

spaceMeanwhile, Colin wondered how bad Derrick's injuries were. What if they were wasting too much time? It was probably really lucky Nike had come along; just him trying to get them both along, it might've been hard. What if he had to force Leon? He still had no idea how to do that, but at least he wasn't having to worry about that and how to levitate Derrick. "You get him, and I'll get Leon," he said again, this time more firmly, half a suggestion, half an order. Then he turned back to Leon, frowning, heart pounding. He prayed he didn't make this worse... or that Nike showing up hadn't. "Leon, c'mon, we need to get you to the hospital wing... you're in shock and your knuckles are all busted up. You need a calming draught and something to heal the injuries." Or, he thought a calming draught was what was needed. Maybe? Or was there something better? He had no clue, he'd only barely started his healing class. But whatever, the nurses would know what to do.

Leon listened as Wallis stated that it wasn't important as to why he was there, and that made Leon wince. Okay, Wallis would only ever say that way if something bad had happened and he didn't want Leon knowing. Which usually led to Leon having to take care of whatever problem it was, and he was just too tired. He didn't want to have another fight on top of... Nope, he wasn't thinking about that. Instead he frowned at his brother, giving him a look that suggested that he didn't believe him. "Yeah, sure bruv. Yer jus' sayin' tha'."

Leon waited for Wallis to say something, anything, and didn't look over as Colin checked over Derrick. He just leaned against the opposite wall, slid down until he was sitting, and covered his face, not wanting to look. Not if he wanted to keep whatever it was in his stomach inside. When was the last time he'd eaten, anyway? It was before all of this, he knew that much, and he wanted to believe that he could keep something down if he tried to eat. But his mouth was too dry and tasted sour from vomit and his throat wasn't cooperating. He felt something loosen when he heard the other boy was alive, though it tightened up into terror as soon as he heard someone else approach. Blue eyes huge, he stared over at the person approaching. Oh god, what if Wallis lied to protect him and Derrick was actually dead? "I-I din' mean ta. I-i' jus' 'appened. I don' even kna' wot I did."

He wrapped his arms around his knees, trying and failing at staying calm. He never was calm, was he? He always seemed to be angry. Every time something happened, he was always the one that had to step in when something bad happened. Right now he didn't want to be Leon McGregor, since that only led to being angry all the time, and he was tired of being angry. Not if it led to-to that. When Wallis suggested that they go to the hospital wing, he glanced down at his knuckles and winced again. "Y-yeah. 'Ospital wing sounds robin righ' now. I jus' wanna sleep fer a bi'. I 'aven't done tha' ye', I fink."

Nike halted immediately when Colin gave her an urgent look, maybe talking wasn't a good time when you have a cursed mess like this in the dungeons. Well, Colin was here first, therefore he must've known what was going; As for her, she just arrived here so she didn't know what was going on. When the Ravenclaw explained that Derrick provoked Leon causing a blow-up, Nike could not blame Leon about it. After all, Derrick's a total bloke from what she could observe about his behavior, though she didn't think beating-someone-until-bloody-and-nearly-dead was something the jerk deserved-- But he did deserved to have his eyebrows hexed off, or maybe stacks of detentions and being slapped at the face. She noticed that Leon stared at her with his blue eyes, which made her grey eyes blink because as far as she was concerned that look seemed to be a little bit of a contradiction in her own perspective. Then he proceeded to say that he didn't mean it to happen, nor did he want to know what happened. Well, yeah, she didn't want to know, either; she was pretty sure that neither Jer nor Gypsy need to hear about it. She wanted to say something but, she could leave that one to Colin while Nike would keep an eye out of the Ravenclaw. She considered Colin as her friend, even if she didn't really say it out loud to anyone.

When Colin told her to handle Derrick so that he could handle Leon, Nike nodded and said, "I can do that." Besides, she was pretty sure Leon never liked her from the start, anyway, maybe even Jer and Gypsy's marriage didn't seem to change that-- Not that it concerned her or anything but they usually either ignored each other or antagonize each other. Pulling out her Vine-crafted wand, she approached the unconscious guy and waved her wand with a whisper, "Corpus Leviosa," The boy's body lifted off and hovered over the ground, then she wondered if some passerby would be terrified to see a bloodstained face. She took a deep breath, thinking that she might be overthinking about it but, it was better to clear off that blood before people might go sketchy on them three, just a precaution. "Scourgify." She did another wandwork and the bloodstains were clear-- Though, she could still see some purplish bruises on Derrick's face. Yikes, if only if people have eyesight as bad as Avian's, that would have helped; Too bad she didn't take Healing Arts, but maybe Madam Borson or Montague could help (though, Nike wasn't exactly fond of the latter). Well, at least Leon agreed to go to the Hospital Wing, which made her sigh in relief. They could all go to the Hospital Wing without any problems now, assuming no one decided to question about this.

Siobhan'Hannah'Grey
Hufflepuff PrefectFifth YearFifteen Years OldSingle

Hannah shuddered as she pulled her school cloak closer about her slender frame. One of the things she hated about these late night patrols, aside from the whole late night part of it, was the leg which took her deep into the corridors of the dungeons. Even in the spring and early fall it was cold and damp down here, in the winter it was even moreso, the air was downright frigid and clammy. Thin patches of ice coated the walls and floors in places where there was condensation. Her breath hissed from her in twin trails like smoke from a dragon’s nostrils, as she walked along, holding her wand aloft as an actinic glow issued from its tip.

Just as she came toward an intersection she heard the soft metallic ‘snap’ of something closing, and she turned round in time to see her cousin standing there, slipping her pocket watch back into the pocket of her vest. What startled her more was how the Ravenclaw’s eyes were like those of a cat, large and luminous, and they briefly reflected the light from her wand. “You’re getting better at this, Siobhan,” she said in her usual whispery tones. Hannah gasped indignantly, “Bloody hell, Linny, can ye not do that? Ye scared me half to death. What are ye doin’ creepin’ about like that, and what’s with yer eyes anyways?

The Seventh Year prefect offered her cousin a wintery smile, and said, “You give yourself away, carrying a light like that; you’ll never catch students wandering the halls after curfew if’n they see ye comin’. As for my eyes, I’ve been practicing Self-Transfiguration; almost assuredly it will figure prominently in the NEWTs.” Hannah shuddered again; she could scarcely imagine performing such magic upon herself, though she didn’t have to work hard to think of the awful ways it could go wrong. “Glad I’m dropping Transfigs after Fifth Year. How can ye do that to yerself, Linny?

Selina chuckled, and answered, “Ye’d think that, wouldn’t you? Hate to burst yer bubble, Siobhan, but you’ll need that class all the way through if’n you really want to be a wandmaker. The key to Self-Transfiguration, I have found, is knowing and remembering who you are, who you truly are, and what you want. It is too easy to lose oneself along the way.” As Hannah looked at her cousin properly by the light of her wand, she now noticed a pair of cat’s ears pricked up through her reddish-brown hair, the dark circles of exhaustion around her eyes, and her washed out complexion. “Ye look like hell, Linny.”

Well, thank you for that rather blunt assessment,” replied Selina, as she drew a deep breath. “Took an extra shift in the Hospital Wing after dinner; between the internship, helping you get ready for OWLs, studying for NEWTs and my prefect duties, I must confess I feel as though I’m too little butter spread across too much bread.” Hannah shook her head, and asked, “Why are you taking extra shifts in Hospital Wing? It’s not like you’re not planning to be a Healer.” Selina answered tartly, “No, I’m not, but I’m graduating soon, and in very short order afterward I’ll be competing with other graduates from this school, all of whom will be looking for the same jobs. Anything I can do to pad my resume is well worth the price paid now. Sacrifices have to be made if I wish to get where I intend to go. Speaking of such things, don’t forget, tomorrow we’ll meet up after your Quidditch practice to work on your Vanishing Charm.

I’d like to Vanish you some days, Linny,” Hannah muttered under her breath, in an ill-tempered fashion, and immediately regretted it. She hadn’t meant for her aside to be heard, she just wanted to vent a little, but when Selina’s ears twitched, and her cousin visibly stiffened, she knew it was out there, and couldn’t be taken back. “Suppose, I’ve earned that,” said Selina soberly. Hannah fixed her cousin with a glare, her grip under her wand tightened, and she added, “Linny, I love you, but there’s days I’d like to take my Beater bat and put yer head through the goal hoops.” Selina said musingly, “Hmmm, ten points for Hufflepuff, though I’m not sure Beaters are allowed to score goals. I can think of a Slytherin or three whom would happily pay you Galleons enough to see it happen, Devonte and Hamilton come first to mind, I think… Ivy and Eira too, I shouldn’t wager. Don’t for a moment think I’m fool enough not to know the scant regard with which I am held, even by those in my own House.

Now it was out there, Hannah decided not to stop, “I spent my whole bloody summer up in your room reading through your study guides. I would have liked to do other things besides working on school the whole time. You graded me harder than Professor Drage did.” Selina glowered back at Hannah with her feline eyes, and countered, “Well, Professor Drage won’t be grading your OWL, will he, Siobhan? No, he won’t; and I’m not the one you should concern yourself with either. There’s going to be a Ministry examiner in a room, watching to see how you perform, and he’s not going to care about bucking you up or the effort you put in. Results are all that matter.

Right then, Hannah wanted to scream, but knew the sound would echo down these tunnels, and the last thing she wanted was the embarrassment of having a family squabble on display for all to hear and comment on at breakfast. “I’m not like you, Linny. I’m not a bloody workaholic, I can’t spend days pouring through tomes, and copying notes.” Selina sighed, and said wearily, “Ye don’ get it. I know all that, but I’m trying to save you from what I’ve gone through. I push you because I know you can do it, because you have the potential, and because I don’t want for you to fail, like I have.” Hannah shook her head, and asked, “What are you going on about now, Linny? What failure? You’re a prefect, you scored eighteen Outstandings on your OWLs, and you’ll be a crackin’ good Cursebreaker someday.

Aye,” agreed Selina. “Eighteen Outstandings, two Exceeds Expectations, and Father would have demanded to know why it hadn’t been twenty for twenty.” She knew in her heart he would have seen the two lower grades as blemishes which invalidated all the others. Hannah drew a deep breath, and replied, “Yer father was a bleedin’ arsehat, and dinnae go on aboot it be wrong te speak ill of the dead. He’s dead an’ buried, and guid thing too. He treated ye horribly, Linny. I remember the nights ye’d come te the house after those rows with him, and ye’d be cryin’ yer eyes oot. Ye tried puttin’ a good face on it, but I knew the truth even then, an’ I was the one who found you bangin’ yer head on Robert’s tombstone, wishin’ ye were dead with ‘im, an’ brought ye back to the cottage.

The Seventh Year Ravenclaw shook her head, and leaned against the cold stonework, as the gray weight of fatigue and guilt pressed down upon her thin shoulders. “After Robert died, Father never forgave me living when he didn’t, never forgave me for not being like him more, and never forgave me for becoming lapsed because I stopped seeing the point in praying anymore. I’ve tried all my life, living up to his standard, trying to be even half as respected as he, and I’ve failed in all regards. I don’t want that fer you, Siobhan. I don’t want for you to disappoint your parents too.” Hannah pointed out, “They’re also your parents, you know. You’re part of the family now.

Selina nodded, and said, “I know, though, thankfully they’ve not asked me to call them such. Ye’ve got every reason to be angry and resentful of me. After all, ye didn’t ask to have me come into your house an’ become the older sister, taking that from you.” Hannah added, “I also didn’t appreciate you having Fianna remind me to show up for the Prefect meeting on the train on time and not without my uniform. I’m not stupid ye know.” Selina nodded, and replied, “No, you’re not that at all, but you have the habit of not changing until we’re practically on the platform, and I didn’t want Eira to think you were disrespecting her. She didn’t know you, and first impressions are important. Don’t worry, Fianna already got me back for that one.” Hannah chuckled softly, and commented, “Hmmm, sounds like her. Best watch for that one; even small lions have sharp claws.

Chuckling softly, Selina then added soberly, “They told me you and Fianna were my responsibility, your parents did, before you lot boarded the train the first time. I also promised I’d take an Avada Kedavra for either or both of you if it came to it. Thankfully, the school hasn’t been attacked by Death-Eaters recently. You’re both my second shot at being an older sister. If you fail in your OWLs, then I’ve failed as your tutor and your sister. I’ll have failed them and you. I’m doing what I am because it is my responsibility and because I owe them that much.

Hannah closed her eyes sighed. ‘Gee, thanks, Linny, not much pressure here is there. No, not really, not so much,’ she thought sarcastically. ‘Then again, what did she say? Results are what matter. Wait a minute, what was that last bit?’ The Fifth Year Hufflepuff said, “What do you mean ‘you owe them that much’? What do you owe Momma and Da?” Selina drew another deep breath, as she collected her thoughts. “They didna have te take me in, ye know, yer folks; might have been a kindness fer you if they hadn’t. Could have left me te find my own way in the world, but they didn’t. As such, I owe them respect, as is their due, and do what they ask of me, because it is expected of me.

Did it ever occur to you they may have adopted you because they love you, Linny, an’ that’s what family does, an’ not for what skill set ye bring to the table?” asked Hannah, a bit incredulously; although as she thought about things, it explained much about her cousin. Selina shook her head, and answered softly, “No. Why would it?” Hannah closed her eyes, and thought,’Yeah, there’s a lot of your problem right there, Linny. Your father had all the warmth of an adding machine.’ The Fifth Year replied, “Your father was a right git, Linny; you sound like him sometimes. Good thing he’s dead, else next time I saw him I’d be of a mind te kick ‘im right in the fives for ye. Momma and Da aren’t like him; if I fail, they won’t be mad at you, and as long as they know I did my best, they won’t stay mad at me.”

Selina drew another deep breath, as she tried to stand fully again, and found the wall to be far more stable option than her legs right then. “I owe you an apology, Siobhan. Seems like all I do is apologize for things I say. Professor Thorne wouldn’t have made you a prefect if she didn’t think you were up to the job; I should have given you more credit for maturity than I did. You’re also a gifted witch; I don’t think I can teach you much more about Charms than you already know. You would give my friend, Grace, a run for her money, and that’s saying something. We’d best get on with our patrol; it wouldn’t do to become lax in our duties.

Hmmm, thank you, Linny,” said Hannah, giving her cousin a soft smile. Mad as she’d been at her cousin, it wasn’t in her nature not to forgive her. They were sisters in more ways than legalities. “Nice of you to give credit when it’s due. That little speech you told me about, you know, the one you were telling me to give the First Years, you didn’t actually tell them all that did you?” Selina chuckled softly, as she tried waving off a dizzy spell. “Course I did, especially after one of them told me a cabbage could have figured out the answer to the door guardian’s riddle. You’ll forgive me, but I have issue with anyone, ‘specially a First Year, whom compares Housemates to vegetable matter. Besides, all I told them was that none of them were any better than anyone else in this school, the Forbidden Forest was forbidden for good reason, to respect their teachers, study hard, don’t fall behind, avoid all the drama, make friends and treat each other well. If they gleaned anything else from all that, then they failed in their first test of gaining wisdom, and they don’t really deserve to be a part of Rowena Ravenclaw’s house.

Realizing her cousin was having issues; Hannah gestured with her wand and cast a spell from her Healing class. ‘Hmmm, temperature of one hundred and three, and a nasty case of the flu. No wonder. You’re not usually so open with your feelings, or free with praise.’ With a soft sigh, Hannah reached out and helped her cousin to stand, and they started walking in the direction of the warm tunnels near the kitchens and the Hufflepuff Common Room. “Okay, Linny, you won’t make it back to your dorm like this. You can crash out in my bed tonight, and I’ll be sure to give Eira your apologies.

                                              Location : Dungeon Corridor

Raymond was wandering down in the dungeon practically lost in thought. The year was swiftly coming closer to an end. What was going on with him and Jasmine weighed heavy on his mind. As well as what he planned on doing after graduating. He needed to start figuring that out. However, his mind was more so on Jasmine then himself. He could figure his own problems out later. He had a whole another year ahead of him before he needed to make any sort of decision.

Hardly figuring he’d run into anyone, Raymond wasn’t expecting to hear familiar voices. The voices he heard however weren’t the voices he wanted to hear together. As the two figures came into view the sixth year noticed Jasmine and Noah coming down the corridor. ‘What did I tell him…?’ Raymond thought to himself. ‘What did I tell him…?’ He repeated in his mind as he made a beeline for Noah.

“Ray,” Jasmine greeted him although she could clearly tell something was wrong. He was visibly upset or rather angry. “I thought I told you to stay away from her?” Raymond said to Noah, hardly paid attention to his girlfriend as he came over. “And I told you we were just friends.” Noah answered back. With those words he snapped. That was it. If he wasn’t going to listen to reason Raymond was going to make it perfectly clear. Any logic or reason he had seemingly disappeared as he grabbed Noah by the collar of his robes and sent him into the stone wall.

                                              “Raymond!”

He didn’t hear Jasmine as he began hitting Noah. The fifth year tried to fight back but it was all in vain as they both ended up on the ground. Once on the cold floor of the dungeon, Raymond didn’t stop there as he got on top of the younger boy. “Raymond, stop!” Jasmine shouted as she tried to pull him off of her friend and break them apart. However not even she was having any luck as she was pushed away. Jasmine watched in horror as her best friend was being beaten seemingly to death. There was only one thing she could think to do, and that was scream.

                                              “Somebody help!”
