Vitamin Crack
Though I think a console always has to rely on the strength of its games.
To a point, but on the same token, if you take the PS2 for example, look at how long its run is, its popularity, and games are still being developed on it, due to its powerful hardware architecture that was not as short-sighted as the Wii's.
Example would be the Call of Duty series...while still good on the Wii, a major issue is the performance degradations that the Wii simply can't produce a consistent 30fps.
I'll admit...Nintendo's motion mechanics broke ground in ways that the competition could have never imagined, but on the flip side of that..imagine what Wii really could be/could have been over time if it was not a small evolution of the Gamecube.
Countless developers have shown what they can do when programming/API libraries are matured, and they learn little tricks/modifications to extract even more out of what the system was orginally speced for. This is why I feel that hardware is just as important as the software.

Wait...A six inch screen on the controller?
Somehow, I am reminded of the Sega Dreamcast.
