A sound not unlike a giggling twelve year old girl could be heard from the headmistress's office. Yes, that's right, the game of Risk Factor had once again taken the gnomes by storm. Applications were scattered all over the office, accompanied by several empty bottles of cider. Jim Bob the Gnome stepped on several student photos as he staggered over to look at the chosen application.

"Dunno -hic- why yous guys so excite over thissssss-hic-!"

The giggling continued.

"Here-ya....-hic- here-ya go, Bin. Nice kappa here for you -hic-!"

The giggling quieted, and Jim Bob the Gnome turned around to see...nothing. The other two had abandoned him! Glaring he sneered, "Dunno whatcha thinks so dang-rous 'bouta kappa. Little turtle...bird..things. Nice 'lil wat-hic!-er spirits. Jess gotta watcho out fer yer a**s 'n intestines is all."

Jim Bob the Gnome suddenly turned very pale.

The Bin made a menacing sound behind him.

"Hic!"

Personality: Hasuko is a bit of a nerd. She's not a hopeless case exactly, but she's more than a little shy, exceedingly polite, and easily flustered. She grew up under the loving but extremely sheltered care of her parents who wanted only what was best for their daughter and ruthlessly stomped out anything they saw as a 'bad influence'. They pushed her towards academics and studying and little else.

She grew up in a small fishing village where everyone knew everyone else's business and the most exciting thing were the annual the late-spring floods.

Hasuko's one other main interest is Faceball (a sport very similar to human baseball, only with less rules and more player brutality). It's a passion that she shares with her mother. Both Mizuki ladies are extremely loyal fans of the Hanshin Manticores, and one of the fastest ways to rile up Hasuko is to trash talk her favorite team.

Hasuko also doesn't care much for cucumbers, which is odd for a kappa. She'll eat them to please her parents and their rule 'you eat what is served on the table' but they're definitely not a favorite food. Now that she's living in the Amityville Academy dorms, Hasuko regularly picks the cucumbers out of her food with impunity and leaves them on her plate. It's a small rebellion but it still obscurely pleases her to do so. (For the record, Hasuko's favorite food is actually amanattou (candied red beans and other legumes)).

Hasuko wears reading glasses. She doesn't really like wearing them but her parents won't let her get her vision corrected. So she's stuck wearing them for now.

She also carries around a backpack that looks a lot like a small turtle shell when she's wearing it on her back. Hasuko carries it everywhere with her and in it are a lot school books and other sundries [list here?] that she would feel lost without. The backpack is also waterproof.

FEAR and Abilities

Natural Ability: Hasuko is a kappa and like all members of her species, she is a naturally good swimmer and can breathe under water.

Also, so long as the dish of water on her head is full, Hasuko is deceptively strong for her appearance. Of course, that is if her dish is full. If Hasuko somehow spills her water she can get dizzy, weak, or even blackout, unable to revive until she's placed back into water or her dish is refilled. Because of this, Hasuko gets edgy if people touch her head or if she's in a hot environment where her water could evaporate.

FEAR Ability: Water Balloon Fight -- Hasuko can summon small spheres of water and physically lob them about much like one would a water balloon or a faceball. These water balls don't do any actual damage (unless her opponent is extraordinarily water-soluble) but it is distracting and has the possibility of being momentarily blinding.

Hasuko physically throws these water balls, which also limits their range and accuracy. She has a decent throwing arm but obviously she can't hit far away or fast moving targets very well.
