The year is 1703, and piracy in the Caribbean is at its height. Tired of the relentless raiding of their colonies, the European Kings have finally decided to put an end to their troubles. They have declared that there is to be a race in which Navy ships, merchant ships, and even pirate ships can enter, the prize being a substantial sum of gold and free reign in all European waters. Many eager crews await the start of this adventure; any sane pirate would be willing to join if there's a large amount of gold at stake, and being able to sail at their leisure would be an added bonus. The rules for the race are simple: There are no rules, other than the obligatory check-ins at several cities distributed throughout the islands; you don’t check-in to each of the cities in a specific order within a specific timeline, you are eliminated, very literally. Unbeknownst to the participating sailors, the finish line holds a trap as an attempt to restore peace to the Caribbean once more.

Yes, I said no rules, but that’s for during the roleplay! For the roleplayers, I expect you to follow the guild rules, as well as a couple that apply to this one. First of all, try and make this roleplay semi-historically accurate. And not too many different ships (I’m thinking like 5? 8 at the most); I want there to be crew members with their own struggles and roles on the different ships. Also, you can’t just seemingly teleport to the next location; you have to actively be sailing there.

Also, don’t post your profiles in the forums, PM them to me with the subject as the roleplay’s name. Don’t start posting until you get the okay from me!

So, its actually within the time limit, so it can be like a few days before or whatever. If you arrive after the limit, you'll be eliminated, and as said before, quite literally. And it isn't really within a week of your arrival/departure, it'll be like Arrive in Port Royal after week one, George Town at the end of week two, Cancun at the end of week 3 etc etc. So basically, if you don't get to Tortuga at the end of 20 weeks, you'll have an extra special surprise for you.

Short bio of captain and ship: Ceri stole a ship from the Spanish Navy when they destroyed the town in which she had sought refuge. She and the few survivors tried to find refuge within the other colonies, even those not governed by Spain, and were denied entry to all. So, with no other choice, the ship and crew turned to a life of piracy. They constantly take in new crew members, whether they're runaways, castaways, or stowaways.

Short bio of captain and ship: Bought by the Demyan's money for his half-sister when he was a dockhand. He assumed the captain role for her and became a merchant. He and his crew, friend, and half-sister were branded as pirates and went on the run upon "violating the crowns' rules of seafaring", or so. Really it just was for sailing wherever they wanted to, not for any acts of piracy.

Character Bio: Ceri was raised by a wealthy Spanish family in a colony in Venezuela. When her parents were killed by a pirate raid when she was fifteen, she swore her revenge on all pirates and disguised herself as a man so she could join the Spanish Navy. She rose in the ranks until the day she was discovered. Expelled from the Navy, she was condemned to death and so Ceri fled. Ceri took refuge in a small commune not far from where she grew up. But the Spanish followed her, destroying the people she had come to love. Along with several other survivors, Ceri stole a ship and began a life she never dreamed she would have.

Character Bio: Raised by his mother in a port town in England while his father often went away on business, Demyan worked as a dockhand to fund his half-sister's dreams of owning and piloting a ship. However a woman as a captain wouldn't be very popular, so Demyan took the lead and they began a merchant's life. When they offered their assistance to a gruff bounty hunter, things went down the drain when they became friends. A merchant didn't commonly sail where he wanted to with no reason and made port anywhere it pleased him. Branded pirates, they were forced to live a more free life as well as more dangerous on the open sea. One night in a tavern, Demyan, his half-sister, and his friend were assaulted by soldiers of some navy they couldn't recognize. A fight ensued. Demyan earned a scar and his friend (who lost his right eye in the brawl) and half-sister were arrested. Now the only way he can free them is to pay their bail, an immense amount that he could only acquire through the race he learned about.

He wears a comfortable loose white shirt, black pants, black boots, and a leather belt. From it hangs a rarely used pistol, a shortsword, and a sharp dagger. The other is hidden. There's a scar under his left eye on the cheekbone.

They came home one time to visit, and before they left she sneaked onto their ship. She didn't make herself known until it was too late to turn back. John was mad at first, but she talked him into letting her stay.

Ray was looking forward to winning the gold, John dieing for the adventure of a lifetime.

Character Bio: Found as a stowaway on the Vientos de Coraje, Ara claims that his life before is nothing of significance. Besides sailing often on the sea of many ships, he's supposedly recovering from being a noble's slave not too long ago and that any mentioned bounty on his head is an exaggeration.

Character Bio: David can not remember a time in his life when he didn't want to be a soldier in the King's Navy. Once he was old enough, David joined up and became a sailor in the name of the Crown. After narrowly surviving a few skirmishes due to pure instinct and natural leadership skills, David was promoted to captain. Though content with his current rank, David always felt like he could be more. He now awaits orders from his commanding officer in Port Royal, hoping that it will give him a chance to show what he's truly worth.

Ceri looked over the balcony at the shimmering blue water. It reminded her of her childhood and all she had lost since the day her parents were killed. A single tear slid down her cheek.
"Captain?" came a voice from behind her. Ceri wiped the tear from her eye and turned to face him.
"What can I do for you?"
"A letter from the King of Spain." She took the letter and opened it, hoping it was some sort of reconciliation; considering the fact that the messenger knew her location and she was currently still alive, she had hope. Ceri's hands trembled as she read and reread the letter. If he's telling the truth..., Ceri thought, We... we could finally go home, finally have a home again.

John was sitting in his and Ray's quarters, closely examining a map. His sister had just showed up on his ship, and he was so angry about it, but there was nothing he could do now. John was wondering where Ray was. He needed to see how they were on money. He hoped that his sister didn't spend them out at the last town they were at. John noticed a crew member walking by and he called out. He stopped and peeked through the door. "Yes, Captain?"
"Where is my sister?"
"I think she is down helping with preparations for lunch, sir."
John nodded. That was the only good thing about her being on bored. Her food was always good. "Go and fetch Ray for me."
"Yes, sir." The man scurried off to do as he was commanded.
John went back to studying his map and compass.

Ellie was juggling different pots, plates and bowls, making sure nothing burned. She let out a heavy sigh. "Cook, can you get the bread for me?" "Yes 'mam" He quickly grabbed it out of the oven while she stirred the vegetable soup on the stove. "Thank you." She smiled and he smiled back. This was her favorite hobby. At least she wouldn't be in her brother's way much.

Ray had been sitting near the front of the ship, going over the log books and finaces when a crew member came informing him that John needed him. "Of course." Ray stood up and followed the crew member to John's quarters. "You needed me John?"

Ray looked up at his friend, leaning back in his chair. "How are we looking financially right now? Did she spend us out at the town?" He assumed Ray knew he was talking about his sister.  

[Strider Wolfheart]

"No, I gave her a strict budget to follow this time and escorted her personally. Our food may suffer for it but the voyage will be able to go further before asking for another benefactor from the next town. Though it would be smart to do so regardless, get a head start on our finances." Ray readjusted his glasses as he looked at the papers. "I'd say we have about another three months before we'll need to head back to port." Ray placed the documents on John's desk for him to look over.

He chuckled. "I'm sure she enjoyed that." He was referring to his sister's crush on him. John glanced at the pages, flipping through them. "Alright, that sounds good to me. Maybe in a week or two well do that benefactor-thing you were talking about." He thought for a moment. "Then again another raid might be fun too. From the richest person in town." John loved taking from the rich. Especially the snobby rich.

"Perhaps but we always end up losing more money then we gain from doing so. Not to mention the occasional loss of lives. So this time I think we should just stick to your charming skills of persuassion." Ray smiled, taking abck his papers and leaving the room to go over the information some more.

John laughed and yelled after him. "Don't hurt your brain, we need it!" He stood and walked to the cabinet, taking out a bottle of wine and a glass. He walked back to his desk and sat down, pouring himself a little. He sat the bottle down on a place in the map. That'll be our next stop. He took a sip, savoring the taste.

Ray waved back through the open door. He went down into the ships hull and went to the mess area, deciding he was hungry. "Hey, cook. What's on the menu?" Ray was looking down and reading papers as he spoke, not really paying too much attention.
