The fish are doing great! I think my BN pleco, Ace is female now that the bristles have developed. They are small and located only around the rim of her nose. My Betta, Patriot has grown a lot. He kept tearing his fins up on the old hide I had gotten, so I got a new one, and so far he hasn't torn his fins up on it, since the areas he likes to go on it are all smooth. The new hide is Spongebob's pineapple home. It's cute! I'll get pictures. Patriot loves going into this one, and so does Ace. Ace seldom went in the old one, but is frequently inside this one. XD I noticed Patriot also loves swimming in and out of the windows of the pineapple. I'll also try to get pictures of them in it. biggrin

Their light fixture is not working right though... It won't turn on most of the time, and when it does, it typically just flickers on and then turns back off. After fighting with it for quite a while, I can manage to get it to come on and stay on... I have a feeling I'll have to get a new one after my next payday... I think I have pinched its cord in the doors of the filing cabinet I have the tank sitting on and damaged the cord... gonk

Edit: I'll post pictures when ever I can find my camera's battery charger and charge the battery so I can take pictures... I had it plugged in where I would know where it was and it's not there now, so I have no idea where it is... gonk

I bought a new light fixture, and that one didn't work right at first... I adjusted the way the bulb was in it and it worked... It seems that they might not have been put together right or something... If this one stops working, I'm gonna try a different brand. The thing that bugs me is the other one was only 3 months old... I looked at its cord and it didn't look like I had damaged it, so, now I'm thinking it wasn't put together right or something... gonk

I still haven't been able to locate my camera's battery charger... >.< I've been looking... >.< My mom says she thought she saw it somewhere, but can't remember where it was... >.<

ZI meant to post on this about the light fixture, but it seems I forgot. If it's the type that has a white thing on it (no idea what it's called) sometimes if you twist that white thing they work better. My old old one for my 20g standard was like that.

fuse type thing? I think I know what you're talking about, and if it is what I'm thinking, they don't have one. For the old one, I tried removing the bulb and then putting it back in, that appeared to work at first, but it wouldn't turn back on after it was turned off... and if it did turn on, it simply flashed on and then went right back off...

Yeah, it's a fuse thing.Very odd. Do you still have a warranty on the old one?

I dunno... I should... considering it is only 3 months old... unless the warranty would be shorter length of time than that... or unless I had to register it in order to get it...which in that case, I wouldn't... I'll have to look at the inserts that came with it and see if I do... and if they require a receipt for proof of purchase date, I may or may not be able to locate it... >.<

I finally found my camera's battery charger! The battery is on the charger, so picture updates are coming soon! biggrin

I'm having issues with this light fixture too... gonk I'm gonna look and see if it has a warranty... If it does, I'm probably gonna send it in (in fact, both of them, and then I'll have a back up one), if not, I'm gonna look for some other brand light fixture now that I know what size I need... gonk

If the new one doesn't have a warranty, you should still be able to bring it back and get a new one. I don't know where you got them, and I'm sure every store has different policies, but I do know that PetSmart has a lax return policy, you usually don't even need your receipt.

I got it from Petco... I might simply not worry about the warranty since this is the second time with this brand I've had this happen with... I'll probably look around for a new one first since this one kind of works (it works when it wants to...)

The light fixture does work, but doesn't like turning on. I have to either tap it, or pick it up to get it to turn on... Dunno why... Still trying to figure out what I did with the papers that came with it (I'm pretty sure something did, but I might be mistaken...) to determine if it has a warranty or not.

I took some pictures over the weekend. Patriot decided he didn't want to stay still. Here are the best pics:

This one I thought was funny. Charcoal decided she would go into this one while I was trying to get pictures of Patriot. It looks like she's saying "Mmmmmm, Fish!" lol:

Here's some of Patriot:

Patriot and Ace on/in front of their new hide (I dunno what that spot is on Ace's tail... I wonder if maybe some dirt that may have been on the tank at the time appeared that way or something...):

Here's some of Ace (what she would stay still for, she swam off and hid shortly after these were taken lol):

Any ideas on what I can use to put over the filter intake tube? I noticed Patriot's fins keep getting sucked into it when he gets really close to it, and I want to protect them, but dunno what I could use that would allow the filter to still work, but also protect his fins from going into it...
