sorry this seems like a good place to post this, just need to vent and you guys will be on my side, well i hope anyway, LOL!
Ok so yesterday at work a customer felt the need to call me and i quoit "a f*cking b*tch" she then told me that she was going to "get my a** fired" and you may ask what on earth could I have done to get such a response, was i rude, snobbish, oh no....
I wouldn't sell her a fish, thats right ladies and gents, i was name called and yelled at because I wouldnt let her kill my fantail goldfish.
When inquiring about what size tank she has and who is already in it. (like we are SUPPOSE to do) It was discovered that she had a 5gal tank with 6 goldfish ALREADY in it! This is far far to many fish for that size tank already so as policy I told her that I was sorry but would be unable to sell her any more fish as they would die. she said well of course they die i dont care, they die that's why i want MORE! (to which i almost fell over!)
After repeating myself a few times she then got the hint that i really wouldn't sell them said the above and stormed to my manager, who after finding out the same basic tank info ALSO denied the sale, last i heard the horrid people went back to walmart, good ridden's.
Plus side I'm very glad my manager stuck to the rules and also wouldn't let them have the fish. Fish have the right to a full happy life too dang-nab-it!
On another random note that is making me crazy my friend whom I've been friends with since hs (so 10 yrs or so) has lost her mind. She's always been one to rush into things and not think them threw when it comes to boys but now she has really out done herself. She met a guy a month ago got really drunk slept with him and now they are "so in love" that they are engaged. now mind you she met said guy because she was gonna go out with her abusive ex boyfriends friend and since she got so drunk he pawned her of on his little brother, ie the guy shes with now. the whole thing makes me want to hit her over the head for being stupid BEYOND stupid.
so yes sorry for the rant's really felt the need to get that off my chest. *breaths*

Cowgirl-with-heart gonk she should be dropped into a sewer for a few days to see how she likes living in her own and other people filth! I love the store you work for,I cant say I have ever heard that rule at a store before o.o I actually work for one of the 3 major chains, worked for a second one in the past. (neither ever sold dogs or cats) Its not that they don't have those rules its that most of the stores don't care to enforce them because they are all about the bottom dollar.

Congrats on saving the fantail! People are told and come up with so much garbage, particularly when it comes to goldfish. Even my mother got believing once that a small one wouldn't need a 10+ gallon tank, and she knew how picky I was about giving my Bettas 2+ gallons each. D=
I'm glad your supervisor knows and sticks to common fishkeeping sense.
As for your friend... some people just seem determined to push themselves into mistakes. You can try to talk sense to her, but it sounds like in an obsessed mode in their relationship and won't take common sense.

Cudos for keeping your cool when clearly the other woman was the f***ing b***h. evil And lucky that your store has such rules many many stores would just sell it seeing as they'll do it anyway so might as well take her money.
And yes, do slap your friend. I know how you feel though. Of my 3 best friends from high school. One got engaged at only 19yrs old. I think that same year, the other got engaged, but then she found out she got knocked up again so decided to keep it and just have the wedding asap. Then the third got engaged then the first got married. All within the last 3yrs. The last one wants to get married in the next 2yrs. Only the first mentioned has actually been with her guy for a significant period of time. I feel like getting married is just the IN thing to do and everyone is jumping in. Meanwhile...lil ol me, still single. Don't care if I ever get married but, would enjoy having a man around again.

I am so glad that you and your managers refused to sell her the fish! I am so tired of all these shops/stores mistreating animals! I can't find a single shop/store down here that doesn't mistreat animals in some way. crying
As for your friend, some people just do stupid things and it can't be helped. confused

cєℓєsтιαℓ ғιʀєғℓιєs:
I'm so glad your manager had your back in this. smile I've heard way too many stories where an employee only does what they're supposed to, but the manager gets caught on "the customer is always right" and punishes the employee while validating the customer's abusiveness. Standing up to the customer is especially important in cases like this, where animals are involved.
"The customer is always right" is what's wrong with a lot of people. It's like giving in to a little kid's tantrum; you may have stopped his screaming NOW, but what about when he wants something again? More people need to refuse service to people who are jerks (and for pet stores, people who have no business owning an animal). Yes, they may lose that person's business, but if a jerk couldn't get business anywhere, they would probably learn not to be a jerk anymore. The way it is now, some people just don't care, and treat employees like slaves because they've got it stuck in their head that they're always right because they're spending money.

LOL love that analogy fireflies!! Jurk customers do to tend to resemble a 3 year old throwing a fit. This is the first time i've work somewhere where the managers stand by the associates, not gonna lie its a very nice change.
