Okay, so, I wanna build a hamster cage since I H-A-T-E Reif's current cage (a 10g with a wire topper). I've been looking into something Grotto-style, and I have a few ideas but I'm not totally sure where I wanna go with it. Help me out guys with ideas?

yay grotto! So your familiar with the dapper website? Cause they have lots of tips. I'd like to make another one and then either sell mine, or that one. I suggest looking on kijiji, garage sales, or ppl who throw furniture when they move. Get a free or cheap bookcase or cupboard. That way the most of the building is done. And it'll blend in with your other furniture and not look like a cage. Try to get one with shelves that slide out. What I did was buy that platic sticky stuff you use to cover text books. I carefully covered the shelves with it. So any pee that gets on them won't soak in the wood. Try to do the back and sides of the cage too. Then you need to cut wholes in the shelves so they can get to the various levels. You can buy bird ladders or pvc tubes for ramps. The door, what I was planning to so, was borrow my dad's saw and cut out the middle of it. Leaving about 1inch of the edge. Then stapple on chicken wire.
I'll let you know how my project goes if I ever get around to doing it. If you lived nearby I'd totally ship it to you lol. My neighbor tossed their big bookcase when they moved but I was too slow and someone else nabbed it.

lol I wish we were neighbors CCR, I'd totally, so totally, claim your pets as mine and do look 400 projects with you smile We'd be BUDDDIESSSSS.
Anyways.
I've been searching the 'frees' on craigslist dailly to try and find a deal, I know what I want so it shouldn't be hard to find what I want. A stereo casse is what I want the most, it'll be the easiest to manipulate and it won't be too large for my lazy-a** Syrian.
