I didn't know where to put this but this is something that everyone needs to read. This happened today. I got a message saying that I had been reported and I needed to give them my username password and email address or else my account would be banned. I almost filled it out because i was scared but then I remembered something I read on this site before NO STAFF OR MODERATOR WILL EVER ASK YOU FOR YOUR PASSWORD! so I reported the message for password phishing and I hope the user who sent me the message (will not use name) gets his/her account deleted. So be safe Gaia and NEVER give out your password!!

This has happened to me. Complete noob. No items or anything. I sat there and argued with her. If she was an admin., I woulda been screwed. Cause I was like "Look lady. You don't tell me that Iw as reported when I 've don't nothing to get reported. Tell me the reason and user that reported me." And she never responded xD

This is nothing new; it's actually the oldest trick in the book. The only reason it's still around is that people actually fall for it. rolleyes
Even though Gaia writes EVERYWHERE that staff does not ask for passwords. And actual staff have colored names and titles under their names.

By the way, accounts don't get deleted. They can be permabanned, but they still technically exist. And that account the user sent with is a mule.
What they do is use an alternate account, scam you into giving your password (not hack; that's different) and send your stuff to their main. :/

Just report it. Gaia Mods and Admins are big enough that they do not need your password to ban you.

I've gotten quite a few of those before actually. Always just reported them and moved on.

I did however almost fall for the fake logout link before Gaia put up warnings about it and made that "You are now leaving Gaia!" page. It was a fake link to an arena entry I clicked and got fake logged out. Lucky for me, I was too tired and lazy to put in my password to log back in, so I just hit the back button and kept browsing around the site. XD

I wasn't until like, a month or so later that they put up an announcement telling people to watch out for the links. That's when I realized I was almost scammed. It made me a lot more careful about clicking links.

This happened to me 2 accounts ago xD;
I was a noob with one or two nice items so the second i sent over my pass
i thought something was fishy so I gifted all my favorite things to
my mule to save my stuff. I've now regained access to that account
and changed the password though~
