I was proud of myself for finishing it.
Even if it isn't all that great.
But tell me what you think!

The Mysterious Priest

The Stray Wolf

There walks in this world a stray wolf I have found, and what a peculiar creature it is. A sight to behold indeed. I've accompanied this wolf, having seen it many times before, and coming along it's intended trail in the forest on many a stroll. A habit having even been formed.

Perhaps it is fate that has lead me to this creature. A beautifully unique beast to bring yet more flavor to this pitifully bland world I must walk. Yes! Perhaps I've made an acquaintance, or better yet even a friend on the long walks of the forest. One to follow me trail by trail, content with the attention and food given readily and happily sate it's needs. May yet I keep this beautiful creature at my side!

But truly, how could I possibly keep this wild and majestic beast with me?! It lives and breathes the very realm I merely tread as a taste of a different life. So many more things it does need to strive, and yet not a one can I genuinely provide! How could I be such a fool to believe taming this wolf to be mine, it's dark yet lively vibrant glow of life a complete contrast to the bleak and droll hum of my mind and soul, would ever be possible when so many of it's kind thrive in this forest. This wolf's very home!

Worse yet, how or why even risk myself on such shady paths with such vicious creatures?! Hunters and demons by nature, I am but an even bigger fool to trust anything but that last moment ending in my very life fading in the grasp of fanged jaws and raking claws! I would be best yet to leave it to this vicious little hellhole of a woodland escape and venture forth to clearer, safer trails.

Ultimately though, we are all but of the very earth we walk within and even beyond these wooden boundaries. Tis truly pointless marks we make upon this land at every turn, eventually giving way to the infinitely grander schemes of the universe and leaving nothing left but dust in the wind. What more are any of us than stray wolves? Than the many brittle leaves scattered across the ground floor?

Even so. Here I shall sit and wait for it. After all, it is but just a stray wolf.

A stray wolf.

A stray wolf indeed.

I can only smile thinking what surprises it will bring me today.

Some of the structures and word choices sound unnecessarily pompous. That's just my candid opinion, and I'm sure I've been guilty of the same thing on more than one occasion in my own writing.
