I took my dog to be weighed the other day and she is fat, fat, FAT! She's only supposed to weigh 10lbs but she weighs a good 15 and none of it is muscle since she sleeps most of the day. Her weight is also affecting her posture (her belly hangs and her back curves in instead of being straight), she lays down instead of sitting, and it harder for her to jump on things she used to do easily.
I, myself have gained a few so we're both Fatty McFatersons.
My News Year's resolution is for both of us to lose weight. I'm aiming for 50 and she needs to drop 5.
My first step will be to take her for a walk in the afternoons and when she can't walk anymore (she has tiny legs and she's in her senior years), I will carry her on my back in her carrier until I'm good and tired, rest, walk back half-way carrying her and then let her walk on her own for the finish.
My next step will be to eat no more than 1k-1.5k calories a day and keep an eagle eye on my mom to make sure she's not slipping my puppy anymore pig skins.
My final step will be supplements. To make sure I'm getting all my vitamins and minerals I will be taking supplements for those and hip/joint supplements to puppy.

This topic seems to be a good month or so old.. BUT how's the progress going? :] Also, you need to eat at least 1200 calories daily. Even 1000 cals is enough to send your body into 'starvation mode' and it will basically make you store all your fat and you'll gain more weight... I learned that the hard way -,-
